Let's start with the reservation, we made a reservation for 5 people around 5:15 thinking we could do a reservation for 6-6:30. The earliest we could was 7, not a big deal. We got to the restaurant around 6:30 and we were greeted by a rude hostess. I was still parking the car when the hostess told my wife we needed to wait till our reservation time. Immediately after telling us that she seated 2 separate parties of 4 and 5 people who did not make a reservation. I get into the restaurant and address the issue we have with waiting an additional 30 minutes with the hostess. She immediately gave me attitude as well. We were seated about 10 minutes later after a server with what seemed to be a lot of experience came up and made suggestions to the hostess. After being seated we waited quite awhile for our server who was great however, was obviously overwhelmed with tables due to short staff. Drinks from the bar were awful, extremely sour. My daughter ordered a mocktail and had to ask 3 separate times for it after all adults recieved their alcoholic beverages. She did not receive it until her food came out. To add insult to injury, the atmosphere was far off from any Uncle Julio's I've ever been to. The restaurant had several parties with small children who were screaming and slamming silverware and dishes. This is expected to a degree when going out in public but this was at an obnoxious level. Most people in the restaurant were visibly uncomfortable with the noise level. Food, though the fajitas lived up to the level you'd expect from Uncle Julio's the steak quesadilla which I've gotten once or twice before had the presentation someone would expect from a Taco Bell. The plate looked nothing at all like what I've ordered in the past, it was bland looking an not at all something you'd expect from this class of restaurant. The amount of cheese and steak was minimal, it was mostly made up of tortilla. Having had enough, we finished our food, denied all additional drinks and desserts, paid our ridiculous bill for the food/service we received and quickly left the restaurant. After arriving home, 4 of the 5 of us did not feel very well after eating there. Won't be back, been to plenty of Great Uncle Julio's restaurants however, this one should have to change it's name. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

The gentleman working, who was able to bring his son was a well-rounded bartender who had a presence that spoke with itself, professional, and prompts, and was taking tables on the floor around the bar top that was pretty full during happy hour and very hospitable. read more

For our appetizer, we started out with Delicious guacamole, made in house with mashed Hass Avacados, chopped; onions, jalapeño, cilantro and tomatoes. We ordered the large, however, it looked like one small scoop served with fried corn tortilla chips. I also started out with Modelo beers with lime and salt. My friend and I both ordered the Cheese & Onion Enchiladas. I requested cilantro rice and refried beans for my sides. The food was good. The service was horrible. My bear was 2/3 full. We had a group of 6. I ordered barbacoa tacos. There wasn't much meat, and what was there was bland and mostly fat. The crispy shell was not fresh made. The queso was a basic cheese sauce, nothing extra. Drinks were not free refills. The grandkids were excited to surprise me with telling the waiter that it was my birthday. The waiter completely forgot. We were going to order the chocolate piñata, but decided against it after our meal being just so-so. $35 for the piñata is crazy, as they no longer have and choc or caramel sauce to dip fruit in. Had a great experience at Uncle Julio's last night for dinner! My husband and I shared the Supreme Nachos with fajita chicken and also ordered the combo fajitas with chicken, steak, and shrimp for 2. We loved the roasted salsa that came with the setup, which was chips and salsa. The service was great, too. Our food was served quickly and our server was very friendly. No complaints here. The ambiance was interesting inside. I've only been to Uncle Julio's outdoor patio, but this was my first time sitting inside. We were very impressed by the fajita chicken. We had a LOT of leftovers, so we took the meat home. Looking forward to coming back! I want to try the tableside guacamole next time and introduce my husband to the chocolate sphere that we can break and out comes churros, chocolate, and fruit! read more

Visited this evening on a work trip. The salsa is top notch and the rest of the food was wonderful. I had the chicken and skirt steak fajitas. The atmosphere is awesome with several games on the TV!!! The service was a little slower than anticipated but they leave water at the tables for you to personally fill so it's reasonable. We went in maybe 2.5hrs before close and they weren't too busy. We had a decent sized party of 7. Our waitress was very nice and attentive the entire time. This was my first time here came on a Saturday around 4:30 we were seated quickly I got the chicken tortilla soup which was really yummy and the crab and lost her flour tortilla enchiladas they also have the option for corn with a sides of pinto beans and fruit (strawberries,pineapples and grapes). This review is hard because the first Uncle Julio's I went to was in Chicago. I've been to the ones in Dallas and Naperville as well. This was our third time at this location in OKC. As a chain, the tortillas and chips are chef's kiss. I'd come here just for that. I enjoy the salsas, traditional and the mesquite one. But the meat quality is just ok. The chicken in ALL locations now are off - not juicy and buttery like it used to be years ago. The steak is better here, but still dry. We got churros to go. The sugar topping was nonexistent. It looked like someone's first attempt at making churros - like we got the reject ones! They used to be little bite sized pieces - they should probably go back to that. Service was friendly, though our meal did take awhile to get to us. It was pretty packed on a Friday night. Ambience is always nice. It's a fun spot for a drink or to watch a game. My family and I had a great experience at Uncle Julio's! They had been before but this was my first time. I would definitely recommend it for a good lunch spot, we will be back soon! I ordered the steak fajita bowl, and it was absolutely fantastic!!! There was a great ratio of meat to rice and veggies. It's a good option if you want something that will provide leftovers. First time here. In general it's okay the service is pretty good. But the prices are definitely questionable. I got the single steak and chicken fajitas it was $24 dollars. When I got it, it was SO PUNY. The big surrounding plate makes it *look* bigger but its not. The wine was ok but no happy hour or taco Tuesday special prices. My friend got the fish tacos . $18.50. Never asked how our food was. Never asked if we needed water or a refill on our drinks. My enchiladas barely had any sauce at all. Never cleared our plates. Forgot to bring my moms drink but brought mine and didn't apologize for totally forgetting hers. Took another 15 minutes to bring it. Ddint take our order for about 45 minutes. Chocolate piñata you say? We're in. Our due date was rapidly approaching so we wanted to celebrate our little baby coming in a very special. A chocolate piñata felt just special enough! It was a fun production. They brought it out on a platter that had made look festive for our baby. Handed my husband a stick and instructed him to hit down and not sideways. In two swings he got it cracked open and the joyous mood continued. Out popped pineapples, strawberries, and churros. The patio is very dirty the tables, chairs and floor has bird poop everywhere. The ducks and birds continue to hangout and poop. Please consider cleaning the area before offering the patio for setting or close the patio if you are unable to maintain it. When we said something to the waiter about the dirty chairs, they just brought another chair and left the one that had poop on it. We decided to have the taco bar Tuesday special. The chicken looked like canned chicken with a little sauce and the ground beef was not good quality. The service was OK, they did not refill our drinks. This place has a great atmosphere that feels slightly more upscale than other places I've been to. That being said, it does mean that their prices are slightly higher, especially if you're having fajitas. They offer a great table side guacamole made to order and that's always a fun experience when with a group. We got tacos and a shredded chicken bowl and both were excellent and flavorful. But the kicker that will really bring us back is the delicious salsa that they serve with the chips. They have a chipotle one and a spicier more traditional one and both are amazing, we couldn't stop eating them. read more

This has become our goto Tex Mex restaurant in Edmond/OKC. Abuelo's had been for the past 10 years but sadly they shutdown. Our primary criteria is good cocktails, just ahead of good food, followed by service and atmosphere. Uncle Julio's meets that criteria and we have enjoy several meals there. Great cocktails, too. But, yesterday we dined and asked for a go box. What they brought was a square cardboard box with folding sides. I love the fact that it is not plastic/styrofoam and commend them on this. But, the box is almost impossible to get food from plate to box. And, no container for beans. You virtually have to dump the food into the box or at least that seemed the only alternative to us. Design is terrible although the idea is great. A redesign is warranted in my opinion. But food, service and ambiance is still great. read more

I feel like I'm stating the obvious when I review a chain restaurant like this - no, the food isn't great. But to be fair, you're not at Uncle Julio's because you've just came back from a trip to Mexico and you want something authentic. You're here for inoffensive food that appeals to that one picky eater in the group who acts like "cumin" is a synonym for "chili pepper". Was I expecting On the Border-style food with even worse pricing? Yes. Did they deliver on that front? Unfortunately, yeah. I went in expecting to be disappointed and I came out extra disappointed with how bland everything was. The one highlight during lunch was the salsas, because they had more than one kind. Our server was also a pleasant surprise - he was super hospitable to our large group and did a great job wrangling orders quickly and getting our food out. Uncle Julio's is kinda like Chick-fil-A where you're like, "this food shouldn't cost this much...but darn it if they aren't friendly" But also, the food at CFA is good so this comparison is irrelevant. Moving onto other, more awful things... No amount of service goodwill will negate the gimmick that is the Chocolate Pinata. For $30ish you get to play whack-a-ball with a chocolate mold and $5 worth of Sysco fruit. Frankly, I'm impressed by UJ's marketing team and their ability to get people to trip over themselves to order this hodgepodge of a dessert. Overall...no thanks, not for me. We came here for my moms birthday and I'll lead with this. Make a reservation it was a Saturday so we expected to wait and we did. But the staff handled it well. Once we got sat we were promptly served and the food was great! My only issue is the meat in my tacos was a bit dry but everything else was spectacular.
