I also made some changes in the original request, knowing that my additions would also add to my cost. The extra cost was line itemized for me and the owner of the company (Jimmy) did not get upset with my changes and he was the one going to pick up the extra materials at his suggestion. I know that this type of request is more often than note met with disapproval from a contractor but he was very kind and told me that he just wants his customers to have the dream they have in mind. So I ask, "Who says that now a days?" This is a remarkable company--both Jimmy and Angie. Pricing? He is right in the ball park of the other guys but what sets this company apart is the quality of finished workmanship and the customer service. Shannon responded to my call immediately, was out to my house that same day to provide a free estimate, and within a couple of weeks I had everything done. Shannon and his crew (of 4-5 guys) showed up on time, ready to work. They not only painted hard-to-reach areas (including a 20 foot stairwell wall and other areas), but also took care of some long overdue items around the house (drywall work, mud & tape). They were in and out within 4 hours. All of this came at a cost that was extremely reasonable (especially compared to a contractor we used during our last paint job 9 years ago). We had a wonderful experience with Jake and his crew. They recently finished a large remodel of two…read morebathrooms, and they both turned out great. One was a small guest bathroom, and it is still small, but sharp! The other bathroom involved knocking down a wall to make a huge master bathroom, as well as a moderately large closet. Family and friends come into that bathroom and don't want to leave! My 6-year old granddaughter insisted on taking a shower in the large shower, with its beautiful tile and two full glass sides. Speaking of tile, the tile work was meticulously done, which is easy to tell. These jobs involved plumbing, electrical work, adding crawl space beams, drywall and paint -- everything. Jake and his crew also insulated and draywalled the already framed in rooms and ceiling in our garage, and added a wall Heating/cooling unit. It looks great and now my husband can work in there year-round. Finally, Jake oversaw landscapers, who completely recreated the pool area. They were amazing to watch as they laid pavers all around the pool. It will make swimming a pleasure. As part of this project, Jake and his crew built a structure -- I would call it a small pavilion -- where my husband can grill and use his Big Green Egg and be out of bad weather and be a part of the pool action. This was a professional crew. Of course, things went wrong. Nobody gets everything right the first time and unexpected things happen in every remodel. Sometimes there was confusion about supplies that weren't picked up -- a bit more organization would help that -- and a bigger crew. However, I appreciate that Jake hires qualified people and tries to pay them well. Jake was careful to keep me informed about the budget as we went along and we ended up about $4000 over -- not bad for a bid of $85,000 for the entire job. With a week left until they are supposed to return, we couldn't just leave their dog alone in the house with no way to give him food or a bathroom trip. We were concerned that no locksmith was going to let us into a house that wasn't ours, and thought we might have to break their window to get in. I called Agape, just in case and as luck would have it Mike was able to help us out. All we needed to do was prove our relationship to our friend and their house, which was no problem since our stuff and our mail was inside their house. Mike quoted us a price, and headed our way. He arrived very quickly, and was super friendly. Even though the dog was extremely panicked and made picking the lock difficult (he kept jumping against the door while it was being worked on) Mike worked quickly and had us in the house within 20 minutes. The price we were quoted was accurate, and very reasonable given the circumstances (under 100 dollars.) Since I'm a dope, I will likely lock myself out of something again in the future.
