Great food, great value! We have been looking for a good Chinese restaurant, as the one we used to go to closed. We found our go to now!

It taste like the I was pouring salt in my mouth. I ordered shrimp and broccoli and shrimp in lobster sauce. I'm 99% sure it's because they left them in a brine ( salt and water) for two long. When I called back. I was told I had the wrong place. I am not pleased. read more

Our first experience here few months ago was amazing. So we been meaning to go back there (it's a long drive for us but we said it's worth it for good Chinese) Sadly today we were disappointed. The girl taking the order had a really bad attitude. The mangolian beef was mostly white onions and few pieces of beef that was there were rubbery and not spicy and flavorful as we remember it was first time we tried it. Lo Mein and General Tso's Chicken tasted fantastic, and I don't even normally like Gerneral Tso's. Guess I do now. All other food was good as well. (Chow mei fun, egg drop soup, and shrimp egg rolls). 4 stars b/c they still have everyone standing outside to order, pay, and pickup. Hope they open the doors to the lobby so we can complete our orders inside... super inconvenient, especially when it is raining, cold, not to mention when it gets superhot this summer. read more

When do you have to say goodbye? Sometimes it has to be done. Tonight the decision was clear for me. I will never see that uncle again. I could forgive the annoying trangressions that built up over time, things that seemed to heal with a little distance. But it just never got better. I heard it put something like this: Anyone can get survive a crisis; it's the tiny, everyday ankle biting that will get you in the end. So while there was nothing fatal with this uncle, tonight was enough, because he tampered with my food. In the past, it was irritations like when I went hungry because he locked me out of the kitchen after ten p.m. It was "too late" to eat. I forgave him when he ran up my credit card over what we agreed on, chalking it up to an innocent mistake. It made me nervous, but I let it pass when his gang barked at me in whatever code they had, mocking me, I'm sure. They would pretend they couldn't understand me, and stole my money when I tried to pay for food. All under Uncle Jiang's direction. On to tonight: Dinner. Chicken Chow Mein. Exhibit A: (see photos) Chicken Chow Mein does not consist of a few spindly shreds from an anemic chicken (? somewhat suspect) smothered in onions. See the two bright orange threads there? Those are purely for medical reasons. They exist only so that the diner can rest assured that she has not suddenly gone color blind from the lack of real green chow mein vegetables. On the other hand, Uncle Jiang may have been looking out for my best interests, knowing the wicked ways of men, perhaps he filled the chicken chow mein exclusively with onions to keep single men at a kilometer's distance. Oh Uncle Jiang! Have I completely misread you? Exhibit B: (see photo) Egg Foo Young Yes, that dark brown ca-ca on the upper left is the egg. Yes, I was so hungry that I hurried and ate some, lest Uncle Jiang chase me out of the kitchen at ten o'clock. Yes, my stomach is doing some Chinese martial art on itself. See the brown "gravy" stuff? Egg Foo Young traditionally comes with a light brown gravy, thickened with a bit of cornstarch, and the barest hint of black pepper. Good gravy gives American style gravy a run for its money. This? Is sloppy, lazy bottled hoisin sauce poured into a styrofoam cup. You think I don't know, Uncle Jiang? You think you can pull the wool over my eyes and finely tuned palate? I have the taste buds of a thousand generations of picky eaters. I think we're done here. read more

Typical Chinese restaurant, prices about average. Stay away from their Mongolian beef which is supposed to be a Chef's speciality. Mongolian beef is a great dish it prepared correctly. The beef is marinated and cooked for the proper amount of time and has green onions in it, not just regular onions. This restaurant puts very little green onions in the dish; all regular white onions. Did have orange chicken, another chef speciality, but it was really good. I notice that many of the popular Chinese dishes that customers can recite from memory just happened to be chef's specialities and cost about 15-20% more then a regular dish. read more

Egg drop soup not very good tasting.like old tasting the flavor was not inviting, like something that would make you sick if continue eating. 1.35 wasted, but what not to order. Broccoli has good texture crispiness, poor temp for most., some warm and some on cold side. Perhaps 1-3hot ones. Carrots were just warm but good and crispy. Rice consistency good, not dry. Sauce good mild flavor for the broccoli. Shrimp was good med size and not dried up. For quick eat ok. It kills the yearning for oriental food. Hope I don't get sick, don't think I'll return. My only complaint is you can't order general tso only, you have to order the meal with broccoli and rice.. since we like lomein better its ends up costing us an additional $3. I tried their green beans last time and they were good :) this also can't be ordered in a small portion only as "an order of," which can probably feed 4-5 people as a side. read more

I will NEVER not give Uncle J's anything lower than 5 stars but I ordered the walnut shrimp as I have many times, however tonight it was EXTREMELY salty. Its always sooo good and I normally wouldn't bring food back but myself and 2 other adults in my house tasted it and all said the same. When I brought it back for something else I was told it's impossible for it to be salty there's no way, I was told it wasn't salty but yes it was. I agree the customer isn't always right but when a regular customer complains, there might be a problem. I will continue eating there because the food is amazing all the time but there was literally like two shrimp gone. I didn't eat most of it and then say it was too salty. I decided to get something else and I'm really hoping they didn't pour salt all over it don't think they would. I have been going to this restaurant for 15 years. The food is excellent. But all of a sudden after 15 years of getting the chef special that I want but substituting the house fried rice for an up charge that I am perfectly willing to pay now I can no longer get that. They refused to do the substitution even for an up charged and even lied and said they had never done that. Guess I'll be finding a different Chinese restaurant to go to in Pensacola. read more

I love the price of the food for the portions you get here! Tried everything from boneless spare ribs to honey chicken to shrimp in lobster sauce. I find the staff actually friendly, and have yet to have a complaint about an order. Love finishing off a meal with Chinese donuts, I can make them last a day or more! This is literally the only restaurant worth eating at in Pensacola. Trust me I know my Chinese eats after 5 years in Hawaii, as well as adventure eating the nether regions of numerous Asian countries. What you will find is a nice hole in the wall that is clean enough to be sanitary, but not so clean the food won't be good. You can see right into the kitchen and I like that. They also did not speak English to each other, I like that as well. Side note, finally a Chinese place that isn't trying to dish up an american take on Chinese Japanese Vietnamese and Thai. The food it was about $6.50 per dinner combo. I was wary of the combo style, but that's how it is on the mainland. A large bento plate came with main course and pork fried rice and a freaking delicious egg roll. (egg roll was crisp and not filled with oil like you get when they don't know how to make them) Which is some of the best pork fried rice my girlfriend and I have had. Period. The Sweet and Sour pork was awesome. Not the soggy warmer crap you get at other places. The sweet and sour sauce was awesome. Its not supposed to pucker you, its supposed to be sweet. The hot and spicy beef was still pretty decent, and you got a half a plate of heavenly pork fried rice... We came in AFTER close on a Wednesday, still cooked us up some delicious eats. We were in ordered and out in about 15 mins. Its hard to beat. I will be back to eat from this place! It will happen again, and again. This was our go to Chinese food restaurant until 4:30pm today. While my wife dropped me of at Walmart on Hwy. 29 to run in for some bread, she ran over to the "pond" beside Walmart to look at the ducks that have lived there for years. When she rolled up she caught an old Chinese lady coming out of the bushes with handfuls of the ducks eggs. She started going off on her and followed her to her car and inside the car was the guy who owns Uncle Jiang!!!! She hollered at them and he said "well there are a lot of ducks and eggs"!!! This is my go-to Chinese takeout. The staff is not overly friendly, but they know they are there to fix good Chinese food, quickly, and get it out the door. I often have them add extra spice to my meal, which they do happily. The combo meals have a big portion and are plenty to fill you up a very reasonable price. Plus, the combos all come with an eggroll, so how can you go wrong? Don't be fooled, this is good food cooked over large metal woks, over a natural gas flame. It's just good stuff. read more
