I accept that my experience was the result of a sales person who is either in the wrong job or was having a bad day. When I have a need to return to this store, I will choose to be helped by a more considerate sales person. Original post. I've never purchased furniture at Samuel's myself but have accompanied friends who have and have, myself, been impressed with the selection of quality items and the staff who helped in my friends purchases. On October 15, I entered the store in search of an end table for a particular spot in my house. I was greeted by Mr. Van Den Berg. I explained what I was looking for and we moved around the store but found nothing that seemed right. He suggested I look around and he proceeded to sit at his desk. As I walked by, I saw an interesting piece that was near where he was sitting and was obscured by a fake plant that sat on top. It was marked "Hue Round Stool" # 12532 or 928419. It was made from laminated wood that made up a conga drum-like "stool". The glue had obviously failed from severely shrinking wood and there were cracked seams around the entire item. The SALE tag showed it to be marked down to $119 from a regular price of "$259". It was in very bad shape for the quality of what the store sells, but it was perfect for what I was looking for. I asked if it could be marked down more and I received a cold and emphatic "NO". I was tired of searching for the right item and agreed on the "as-is" price. While Mr. Van Den Berg was writing up the sale, I noticed on the attached tags that the original price tag indicated that the regular price was $199, not the $259 which was the MSRP. The sales tag was blatantly misleading. I pointed it out to Mr. Van Den Berg and noted that this "table", which was really a stool and would have sold at a garage sale for $20, wasn't even half off. All he had to say was that he would point this out to management. I proceeded to pay for the "table" since it was what I was looking for even though it was, in my opinion, over-priced. I asked if it could be carried to my car and he said he couldn't do it and nobody else was around. I carried it myself. I have to say, I am happy with the "rustic" table, but not happy with the experience. Most people would have seen this item as something to use in a garage or IN the fireplace. So much for my taste in furniture. I feel that I took it off their hands and would have praised Samuel's for selling it at a reasonable price.

They used to be amazing and hold up so well with repeated washings etc. I just ordered some new sheets in a different color than I had previously and they stained after the first wash. I am using the same water dispersible product that I always have. I contacted the company and they made up some excuse about the product I was using making the warranty void. They changed their website since I had made the complaint. It used to say not to use jojoba or grapeseed oil... now it says to contact them. So shady!!!! Regardless I feel like they should back up their product... esp to a client that has been buying from them for over 15 years. I used to recommend them to all of my clients for their own bedding. Here are reasons why: *They have great selections, including food items. *Very well stocked and organized. *Employees are friendly and nice. HomeGoods is owned by the same company that owns TJ Maxx and Marchalls. Here are a couple of main differences between HomeGoods and other discount stores ('+' for a pro; '-' for a con): +Prices are great at HomeGoods but they don't (seem to) sell things just because they were able to buy random closeout items. Each item you find on the shelf, you can find multiple of them. If you go to other stores, including its sister stores and definitely Ross, you often find random assortments of things. +HomeGoods, at least at this location, is very well stocked with food items. I was able to find Italian cookies I could not find anywhere else in town. -HomeGoods does not sell apparel. I'm sure I will come back here often. When you are a manager you should know when your busy times are and you should staff accordingly so that your checkout lines move quickly and smoothly. You should have at least 2 managers or shift leaders up front to help with any issues at the registers when you have at least 6 open. You also need to have enough cashiers to move the lines along. when you have only 2 registers open and you have 3-4 people in each line you need to call for another cashier. Your cashiers should be polite and say hello or how's your day going but they should not start an actual conversation that slows down the lines. I have seen many frustrated customers waiting in long lines, I am not the only one. It is important to keep those lines moving quickly so you keep your customers happy. I understand that without scan bars on the products that it is not as quick as a store with them but I believe that the cashiers should be taught to input a bit faster and cutting the conversations down while doing this would help so they can concentrate on the items being imputed. They can be polite (which they all are) but if they would just cut those conversations down it would really help. So to sum it all up I believe either the manager needs retraining or he/she needs to have regular meetings to instruct the cashiers how to help the lines move faster. Staffing during busy times is also very essential, enough at the registers and enough on the floor.
