So here's the tale: My Texas daughter and Australian boyfriend (who both live in Brooklyn) just got engaged. Etiquette gives the BtoBe's family the opportunity to host the GtoBe's parents for dinner. Alas, with 16 hours and oceans separating us, I had to get creative. I set up a Zoom call for each of us, created fun games to break the ice and get to know each other, and sent each family champagne for a virtual toast. I sent dinner to my Brooklyners but had to find a way to send brunch to the Aussies so we could all have "dinner" together.
