Great spot with good staff and great coffee. Ambience is excellent. Highly recommended, be prepared for wait on Saturdays and Sundays.....it's worth it!

To be honest, nothing in Barwon Heads is quite like Annie's. The quick service, friendly staff, great food and cosy atmosphere all contribute to an iconic local cafe with smooth, hot coffee & delicious deli-style food. I seriously recommend you treat yourself to a tasting plate for breakfast or lunch, because trying a variety of what Annie's has in stock will only ever leave you happy! Find your favourites, take home a platter's worth of cheeses and meats and treat yourself, and then come back in the evening for gourmet pizzas and salads! The owners are so friendly - plus, the first Thursday of every month, come in for free cheese & wine tastings!! SO WORTH IT. Chat with the owners about their produce - you'd be surprised how much research and love goes into what this little cafe decides to stock! Only the best for you! I know sometimes having a smaller lunch menu can do people's heads in, but believe me, all of the options are quality. My personal favourite is the lasagna paired with my choice of side salad (and those salad selections change daily based on what's been freshly made that morning!), a hot soy latte, and - on colder days - a warm, fuzzy blanket supplied by Annie's to bundle myself up in while I read the paper! It's the perfect, most snuggly way to spend a relaxed afternoon in Barwon Heads. Treat yourself. Go to Annie's. read more
Absolutely delicious breakfast. Pulled pork was a little on the small side. Mushrooms - good size & They happily substituted whole-grain bread for the white. (What is with this country? Why do all these nice cafés serve white bread? Who wants the less delicious/nutritious version??!!!). Everything on the breakfast menu sounded fantastic, but I wasn't as excited about the lunch and dinner menus. Nice specialty shop to go along with the café. Lots of dried canned, and jarred specialty foods. lots from local providers. Lots of Takeaway options. read more
Sitting in Annie's feels like you are on the set of the latest Australian / Kiwi co-production drama series. Surfers, day trippers, sea changers waft in and out of these breezy relaxed spot. I grabbed a paper and nabbed a table outside with a gentle sea breeze. Coffee was a bit bitter .. but the food made up for it. The breakfast special "Scandy eggs" - were moreish, the eggs cooked perfectly with fresh home made bread and sweet caramelised red onions. Service is friendly and the vibe is good. It'd be a solid 4 stars if it wasn't for the coffee. read more

Barwon heads has a cute little village that is really trendy. It's almost like being in melbourne. The great thing is you only have to drive 5 minutes to get into some great surf. This deli is amazing. They make their own jams, marmalade, and heaps of other little things. It looks like a small shop from the street but as soon as you walk in the door it opens to high ceilings and walls covered with everything a deli should have and more. From the floor and up the walls treats, chutneys, it's a deli heaven. The vibe of this place is a bit "posh" and it is a bit pricey but would be a great place to have the occasional splurge. They also make great coffee! I had a nice coffee and it was delicious! Can't wait to go there again and have a coffee outside in the warm sun. Maybe have some wine, cheese and bread! read more

We are visited here twice. Both times, the coffee was great and service was quite ok. Had a light lunch today: the arancini balls were small ( but tasty); the baguette was ordinary in taste and over heated. Overall quite expensive for what we ordered. The cafe has considerable attractions in terms of the variety of goods on offer and eclectic in the showcasing of products. read more
Well any venue that opens at 630am gets my vote, great coffee great service amazing sausage roll for later and overall fantastic rustic ambience with amazing cheeses! Love this place a must see read more

A very popular place on the weekends making it hard to find a seat. They have recently added some big communal tables so the situation is getting better. If you can't find a seat and you're really keen to eat here, there are two seats at the back door near the kitchen that are normally vacant for obvious reasons. In the past I've found the vegetarian food to be a little bland, but overall this is made up for by some delicious breakfast dishes. read more

After hearing so much about this place we couldnt wait to try it for coffee and cake. It was at best OK. only reasonable food and coffee. Pretty average for coastal food. Run of the mill rather than something special, sorry. read more

Pretty good food but lacklustre service ruined the experience. Don't go if you're in a hurry, takes an age to get anything (coffee included) even when they're not that busy read more

weak and watery coffee, average cakes and treats, but the food was really quite appalling. zucchini fritters were undercooked, mascarpone on fruit toast tasted repulsive, and artificial maple syrup on the pancakes really topped off a completely disgusting breakfast. the pretty decor and decent sausage roll were eclipsed by the pretentious atmosphere and snooty staff. read more
