Always a favorite stop for me and my family. Different Mixons that you can choose from, milkshakes, Banana split and much more. They do have a seating area and their seating inside as well. Absolutely delicious custard! And very reasonably priced. It's been a while since I've been so pleasantly surprised by any dessert, but Uncle Eddy's Almond Custard was just so unbelievably good! My mouth waters just thinking about it. It was perfectly creamy and rich, and from time to time you will be pleasantly surprised by crunchy whole almonds mixed into the custard. Try it in the waffle cone, or cup, or take a pint of it home, which is what I ended up doing after having two whole scoops (one each of almond and chocolatey 'mud') in the cone. Aside from the custard--which has a dense, decadent consistency--there are other, lighter ice-cream options, as well as sundaes. Very cute little custard/ice cream shop! The service was fast and the ice cream was delicious! I was able to taste a few different flavors of their daily homemade flavors but my favorite item that I tasted was just the classic vanilla-chocolate custard swirl. The vibe of the shop was very fun as well. There's many outdoor tables to sit at where you can watch people play mini golf but there are also indoor tables and even a little gift shop! I saw another customer order the banana split and just seeing how good it looked definitely makes me wango back before the end of my trip! read more

Delicious! Day tripped to Hatteras from Nags Head and this was the perfect stop on the way back. I ordered the lemon raspberry and my husband had something with peanut butter and fudge (a sundae) that he added banana to -both were to die for depending on what kind of taste you're into. Great stop at the end of a hot day wandering around the lighthouse and walking along the beach. They didn't take Apple Pay (inconvenient but not a deal breaker) but the frozen custards were priced right. We tried the chocolate-coconut and the pina colada. Both good. Visiting Frisco for the week, and we decided to visit Uncle Eddys for ice cream and putt-putt. No where to park and I asked if I could park in back of the restaurant, I was told by a worker that I could. Walked in to order some ice cream and the lady behind the counter started yelling at me for parking in back. She was standing right next to the lady that told me it was ok. I tried to apologize and explain, but she just yelled over me, telling me I'd have to buy her a new septic system, and that would be expensive. Never tried the ice cream. Never will. Rude and mean. We originally came just for mini golf but we saw a lot of people coming and going for ice cream we decided to try out the custard as well. We were all pleasantly surprised to find that this is probably the best local ice cream we have found on the Outer Banks. We will be back and would recommend to anyone! read more

We stopped in at Uncle Eddys after dinner across the street at Diamond Shoals. Not much to say about it. It's a pretty standard ice cream place that also has mini golf. Loved this place! I had the Kona Kick sundae, if you love chocolate and coffee then get this sundae! It won't disappoint, trust me. My wife had on of the special homemade custard with their homemade chocolate chip cookies mixed throughout...OMG awesome!! Used to come to this place as a kid all the time with my family (circa 12+ years ago) and it's exactly as I remember it! Same mini golf and delicious ice cream. The death by chocolate (when they have it) is my favorite, it's absolutely amazing. My only complaint is about their fruit toppings. I ordered strawberries, my dad ordered berries, and they were served in this type of syrup which completely overshadowed the ice cream itself and I had to throw it out. Would advise against ordering fruit toppings if you're thinking it'll be fresh fruit because it is not. read more

The homemade ice cream is alright and usually change up the homemade flavors. That said, like it's been mentions there are bugs everywhere, cockroaches, even tonight one was crawling in the inside wall. The decor is tacky and needs to be cleaned, which cause the low score. But more then likely we will be back just for some ice cream. read more

Super cute and quaint little ice cream parlor. They have a great selection of flavors but none of it that we tasted was "frozen custard". The consistency isn't very creamy ... has more of an ice milk or ice cream consistency. Staff was friendly. Definitely recommend this place if you're just looking for ice cream ... but not if you're looking for custard. read more

My family has been here before during the day for put putting. Tonight we decided to go for late night ice cream & the outdoor seating (we wanted to bring our dogs). Walking up I noticed a few black bugs scurrying around. We tried to sit outside and saw dozens of roaches. My mom went inside to tell the rest of my family to hurry up, the cashier overheard her and refused to even make eye contact. There were at least 6 dead roaches around the outdoor tables that we saw. And live ones were everywhere. The Outer Banks is hot & humid, prime for bugs, and ice cream dropping must attract them. But management needs to make some adjustments to try and at least keep it under control. If there are that many roaches outside, you can bet they are making their way inside. read more

We are from PA which means we know about Hershey's ice cream. It's good, but when you want something special on the lower Outer Banks NC, Hershey's is just about all you can find at the ice cream shops. NOT AT EDDIES!
