On my drive to visit Tampa, I ran into a LOT of bugs. I regrettably used the self-service wash at Uncle Chick's Car Wash to wash my car. The water pressure was so weak that it took nearly 5 minutes just to do the pre-wash. I thought the pressure would get better with the pressure wash, but it did not. I couldn't even effectively spray off bugs from an inch away. I put my hand in front of the sprayer (not advised with a "real" pressure washer), and it felt like a shower head. You can get better pressure from an ordinary garden water hose. I would never recommend this car wash because it took approximately three times as long to complete the job due to the low pressure. Of course, the longer you use it, the more it costs. I moved to a different stall to complete the rinse, but it was not much better. That's how I learned it costs $5 just to get started. In all, I spent nearly $21 to get the worst car wash ever. I was hoping for rain when I left so I could get a proper rinse. I tried to contact the company to no avail; the phone rang on my first call with no answer. Each call after that was met with the old-school busy tone. Customer service was just as disappointing as the equipment. Another major issue is the lack of pricing signs. There was no clear indication of what your total charges would be until you finish. Between the weak water pressure, high cost, poor communication, and lack of price transparency, I would not recommend this car wash to anyone. read more

Kind of disappointing. Foaming brush was worn and it had no foam even with repeated moves of switch to that position. Pre-soak didn't do much to soften up bugs even after about 5 minutes (yes I put it on first when car was dry). Soapy spray wasn't all that soapy. Rinse took quite a while to spray clear water. The spot-free rinse did work quite well though, and the blow dryer was a nice feature. read more

Okay it is a drive in car wash, nothing new. I was initially turned off when the signs said to deposit $2.00 & then would not work till it got $.50 more. The jet worked great, as did the soap & rinse. I have a 2 seater car, so quick enough to clean in the time allotted. It had places for mats and such, but I just wanted to get the pollen crap off my car. All was great, including the pressure. I did not like that their were no signs indicating the price increase. This was the most horrific experience I have ever had with a car wash. First, the drive-through car wash took my money but never turned on, so I went to wash my car manually but it was such a horrifically set up ordeal! Not only did it not get off the simple bug splatter, but it also managed actually to stain my paint!! It took me three rounds ( at a min of $3 each) to get some of the bugs off, and at times when it was on rinse, I would spray soap. After fighting with that, I went to vacuum my car, where you have to go to the other side of the lot to buy "tokens" that the machine won't even take, so now I'm stuck with chucks cheese looking tokens and I lost $5. After fighting for it to take real money for several minutes, I came to find out that the hose doesn't even reach to the back of my compact little Elantra! It hardly reached my back seats! Most of the time, I was fighting for the hoses to not pop out of the machine just to vacuum the front, if anything. So I'm $45 down, and my car is dirtier than it was when I arrived. It looks like I went missing now, even like I said, running it through the wash three times. Before, I just had highway bugs on my hood, nothing much! I don't know what soap they use or what they define "water" as, but it's an abomination. Furthermore, they don't have a drying option, so you're stuck with a soaked spotted car! I also saw a couple have their money eaten by the carpet shampoo machine. This place is a rip off! I can't get in touch with anyone in the company. But that did not work at all. Got the top side washed and it did a fair job since it was not that dirty. So then went to thier website to let them know what happened. This place is a rip off. Youre better off paying for a regular automatic carwash somewhere else. $5 here only gets you 6 minutes, which is not enough time to do wheels and brush the body. Whatever you do, don't ever put your credit card in the stall machines. It will likely overcharge you!! But the machines work better with cash. On a more positive note, it is a nice and clean place overall and it offers vacuums and hand drying/waxing area. But seriously, save time and money. I wash my car at Uncle Chick. It is easy access from Tampa road. It has civilian camera on site. Saturday and Sunday are always busy. There are about 5 self-service, one machine wash and 2 interior vacuum. Coin, token machine on site (AMEX no accepted). Each option cost 2 tokens or 8 quarters on average. It offers no-spot wash, but I usually just use regular soap. I did notice that if I don't dry my car using my towell, it leaves water spot that won't come off unless I wash it again. My brother-in-law tried the auto wash and he didn't complain. I took one star off because I got few bad tokens from the machine. I hope they fix it. BTW, there are couple good restaurants and bar just next door in walking distance. read more

Please stay away from this place. It is very expensive and after $10 at the self-service car wash, my car was still dirty. The vacuums are extremely short time also. I think they deliberately turn down the pressure on the wand so your car can't get clean. Also they have a bunch of smelly chemicals that act like they're doing something but they really don't. This place has horrible reviews on Google as well and I should have read them before I went in but all I was trying to do a spray my car down and get it cleaned. Definitely needed the Sedan cleaned, so I stopped in the drive thru Water Wiz 2.0...it definitely got the job done for the most part...the deluxe jets water underneath the vehicle....the water jets out in a back and forth sequence....the blower needs improvement...I had to get out and shammy it down but it was all a set up because the aroma from the restaurants next door was trying to entice me to go in for a quick dine! I wish I would have read the reviews before I just got ripped off. I just had my car professionally detailed less than a month ago..needless to say I got the ultimate wash, hoping to keep its nice shine....nope came out looking awful! Worse than before. This car wash is very close to my work. I went on my lunch break to wash my car and was pleased with the self wash. I think most of the complaints on here are regarding the automatic wash. It sounds much cheaper to do it yourself. I think it cost me around $4.50 to clean the outside of my truck, no drying. It's good for a quick clean off. read more

I paid for the deluxe $10 car wash. I was very disappointed in the car wash results. Maybe 60% of the car surfaces were cleaned. The areas cleaned looked good. I attached some photos of the car after the $10 deluxe wash!! At least 3/4 of the hood still had pollen on it. Of the two bird dirt spots only one was even partially removed the other was the original size. I then paid an additional $3.00 in the self service car spot to wash the missed areas plus an additional $2.50 for vacuuming. Total cost $15.50 and I had to do half the work. I guess this is how Uncle Chick's makes his money. This was a total waste of time and money... a rip off. Next time I will go down the street to the full service car wash and only pay $12. read more

I normally use Uncle Chick's to vacuum my car. I usually bring my own quarters. However, today, I brought 10 $1 Bills thinking I will change them in for quarters. So I put my dollars in and out come "Tokens" which is fine, but I didn't realize until putting in $7 that the coins are for the car wash only. So now my tokens were practically useless in regards to vacuuming. I did put a quarter in the vacuum machine because the machine does say Quarters and Tokens only. So, yeah, it'll take my tokens but the token will only be worth $.25 instead of the $1 I bought it for. What a scam. $7 out the window. And I would say that at least I can wash my car there, but I am able to wash my car at home, so its really a waste of my $7. This is probably how this tricky business makes half of their money. read more

Also tried the self serve which cost even more as the water pressure was so low it wouldn't remove the dirt or the soap in a timely fashion. Had to rewash both times. I opted for the $7.00 basic wash, after reading all the awful reviews. Well, my car looks 1000 times worse than it did before going thru the wash, AND they debited my account $10.00 rather than 7. Overpriced compared to other self-service car washes... $3 for 4 min, not enough time to do a good wash. As far as the automatic car wash, I can't attest to the quality, but those are lazy machines and pressure washers allow you to clean where you want. One word, Greedy! Oh, wait, one more word-SUCKS! If there is one thing I hate is CHEAP and PETTY. It is the ultimate pet peeve of mine. We had never been here before, so we tried the basic $7 wash. Omg! The car looked worse after the wash than before. This lousy wash didn't even get basic dirt off and it left residue on the car. On top of that, IT DIDN'T EVEN BLOW DRY THE CAR. WOW. My friend raves about this place and I was pretty loyal to another wash but wanted to give it a try. Initially I had a bad experience with the equipment after another patron left a substance on the vaccum hose but I found the owner there on-site and he was absolutely wonderful about resolving it with me. I wash my car there about once every ten days. It is an o.k. place,it's close to me. They have an automatic car wash there,which does not clean your car in anyway. when I use the self clean wash i'ts good until a car goes through the automatic,when that happens I loose all pressure on the spot free rinse.
