That place is not good. Do not take your stuff there. I took my bike there to get turbo internals, put in it. And I got back a different used motor and he kept my new motor... And charge to me 8000. And it took him almost a year, the whole time my bike was there, he kept it outside right?Everything on it is ruined, rusted and sunbeat.... And I still ended up having to pay somebody else to go through the motor.. Totally disorganized and lacks the skills to effectively manage a business. No appointment times set up. No invoicing and avoids discussing price. He did repairs on my vehicle I never received a price before the work and totally fabricated the hours. Charging me three hours to replace a wheel hub is insane and even worse that there was an additional 90 mins to install break pads and rotors when that takes me 30 mins per wheel at home. After years of tying to support a local business its not worth hearing this guy say he didn't have time to get to something despite having my car there for a week on a time he told me to come in for service. I live 1 mile from this shop, and I stopped in the other day because I heard good things about it. This is my limited experience. When I walked in there was a young man at the counter who told me that the owner was on a phone call. I told him about the vehicle I need repaired. It's probably a $500-$1000 job. He took down all the details and told me that "Al" would contact me by phone to set up an appointment in about 10-15 minutes. That was 2 days ago. Will I go back there? Unprofessional and awkward/rude. I stopped by asking about transmission work, said were busy but stop by next week and they can do the work. I asked when. "Anytime". I was already a bit dubious at this point. Fast forward, I take time off work to come in the next week. They said were busy but can at least take a quick look, and said to leave the car and come back in a couple hours. I'm already slightly annoyed at this point- clearly scheduling and being considerate of my time doesn't appear to be a priority at this point. I return a couple hours later, only to find that this guy cant even stop what he's doing to bother chatting - he simply said " yeah it needs work". I asked for more info/ his opinion etc and he said rather rudely "I'll call you later". Flabbergasted, I said can't you just tell me now while I'm here? " No I'll call you". I was already sensing that this isn't the mechanic for me and that this was a brush off. He never did call, and I ended up paying a lot more elsewhere, but based on what the other shop had to do, I'm guessing the amount of labor was too much for the rough quote he gave me originally. However, rather than state that I can't/ don't want to work on this transmission because it's not my specialty, or say that there a lot more work involved and I'd have to charge more (not unreasonable), or some other polite but honest response, it seems like he prefers just giving potential customers the cold shoulder. While I was not overly impressed with Al's customer service or how he he clearly steered away from wanting to discuss the costs on the bill, the most irritating part of my interaction was his lack of concern for his customer's vehicle. One of his guys parked my car a block away from the shop and did not lock the vehicle. They parked it at about 3:53 pm and I did not arrive until a few minutes before 5:00 pm (about an hour). When I let him know that it had been left unlocked, he told me that it had "literally" just been parked. I told him that it hadn't literally just been parked because I had walked from that direction and not seen anyone drop it off. He replied to say that it had been parked right after our last phone call (which ended at 3:52 pm). I then repeated to him that it had not been parked literally just now. Instead of simply admitting the mistake, he brushed it off and wouldn't respond to my complaint. That will be the last time they see any of my vehicles. read more

I don't even know where to begin with this review but if you take away one thing: don't waste your time with Al. He was a complete jerk over the phone when I first called to the point that I almost hung up on him right then and there (I sure wish I had). All I asked was a quote for a brake job and he went into a rant accusing me of hiding something and that he didn't want to "open a can of worms" and get harassed once things started breaking on my car. My car is simply old and it was time to get the brakes and rotors replaced as they were causing issues when braking, and he was suspicious the entire time that I wasn't telling the truth. Eventually he gave me a price estimate and I decided to go through with the work because of how cheap it was. During the repair he called to tell me that he forgot to include the time it takes to swap parts between my old and new calipers and told me that he had to charge me more than I was quoted for. After getting the repair done I had similar braking issue so I decided to bring it back in for him to check that everything was done correctly and if there might potentially be something else I could have him work on to fix the problem. I called him about a week after the work had been completed and he told me that he was busy due to the holidays and to call him back after thanksgiving (totally fine, I told him I'd call him then to schedule something). I called the Monday after the holiday and he told me that he was completely booked and had no time to look at the job he did. I offered to schedule out 2-3 weeks, a month even, whatever his schedule allowed I just wanted to get it on the books. He refused and argued that it couldn't be done. I asked him what he wanted me to do as I needed the job looked at to make sure everything was working correctly. He suggested that I simply leave my car parked near his shop and he would get to it eventually. I expressed that I only have the one car and needed it to get to work. I could leave it for a few days but not potentially weeks. His next suggestion was for me to drop the car off every single morning and pick it up at the end of the day until he finally had some time to look at it. I was blown away and told him that there was no way I could do that. He continued to argue and got more and more upset before hanging up on me without warning and ignoring all of my calls. Finally, after 3 hours he called me back as if nothing happened and told me to bring it in for him to look at "his work and only his work". He took a few hours and then returned the car back with the only note being he didn't find anything. All in all I should have listened to the bad reviews and even now know some people who have had horrible service from before once I started telling people about my experience. He has his customers park all over the neighborhood and I had one of his neighbors ask me to move my car because apparently he will just leave cars for weeks in front of people's homes. This guy is a Grade A dick. Go anywhere else to service your car. I'd only recommend this business if you like getting in arguments with the owner. read more

I am genuinely puzzled at the negative reviews on here as it sounds nothing like the Uncle Al's that I have been coming to for years now. This shop has really fair prices and every issue I have had with my vehicles gets fixed period! I have had horrible experiences with other automotive shops in the past but Uncle Al's shop has always been upfront with me about my cars problems and their ability to fix those problems. Sometimes my car is done in a day and other times its a week which sucks but I know that they're actually FIXING my vehicles for me and I understand that their a small shop and may need a bit more time cause there's maybe like 2 guys working total. Regardless I can't stand it when mechanics BS me just to get my business only to screw me over in the end and Al definitely doesn't do that. He seems to be pretty honest and caring and I appreciate that. read more

My husband and I are moving from WA to FL and shorty into our journey one of our cars needed to be repaired. It was about an hour before they were due to close when we brought it in. When they found out we were in the middle of a move with 2 young boys 3 cats and a dog, they fixed it right away. They could have charged us anything and we would have paid it given our situation, but they didnt. They were honest and reasonably priced. We couldn't have had a more stress free and easy experience. Uncle Al's is hands down the best place to take your vehicle for any auto needs. I have been taking my vehicles to Al for several years now and there is no one I trust more than Al. He only hires the most knowledgable, professional and courteous workers with high integrity and character. I am a single mom and have had other places take advantage of my naïveté regarding vehicles. Al only does the necessary work. His work is efficient, expedient and proficient. I am always treated as a priority and with the upmost respect. I recommend him to any of my friends and all my family. I have called him in a panic when my vehicle acts up he says to bring it in. He reassures me that he will get to it right away, and he does. It is a small shop and they seem much more geared toward doing what is necessary to help fix a problem, not make unnecessary work just to make more money. I just had our 2003 Ford Escape repaired by these guys. Great service and the bid they gave me was spot on with no surprises. I had been told by another repair shop that it needed a new timing belt. I checked the price and learned from AL that my vehicle doesn't even have a timing belt. I had them do other work based on their honesty and it was a smooth and fair process. I called the other day in the morning for an estimate on a significant repair. I got their voicemail, so I left a detailed message of what was wrong with my vehicle. (It took another shop about 5 minutes to come up with their estimate.) I hadn't heard back from Uncle Al's near the end of the day, so I thought I'd see if I could actually talk with someone. A person picked up their phone and could see who I was from the caller ID and knew what my repair was from my message. He immediately told me, without my being able to get a word in, that he is returning calls in the order received and then immediately hung up on me. I thought, "Wow, what's going on here?" I'm now into the evening of the second day, and no call from them. Maybe he's got quite a list of people to call and still hasn't made it to me? About a month ago I brought my 2004 Chevy Tahoe in for a new water pump. I just happened to find Uncle Al's on the Internet. I called them on a Friday, got a quote, brought it in at 4:30pm that evening and they finished it at 9:30 that night! Very pleased with the quick and friendly service AND they were right on the money with their quote! Brought it back in 30 days later for an oil change and asked for a complete car inspection. They told me exactly what additional repairs were needed, how long until I needed to get them done and quoted me a price. On top of that they gave me the oil change and inspection for free! So glad I found them! My family and I will will be using these great mechanics for all our car repairs! read more

Honestly, this place was terrible. Charged way more than I was quoted. Never called with updates when they found something wrong with my car. They were also very rude to not only me, but my family as well. I went to uncle als because of convenience, and I really regret it. Took them 3 weeks to get my car up and running. I really don't recommend this place. After having the work done, another shop told me that I got charged way too much for the work that was done. I took my car in explaining what was wrong with written information. (Their request) Then 3 weeks later says they are too busy to work on it. I didn't get a call back until the last minute either. Another thing is they gave me alot of double talk. Bottom line I communicated what was wrong and they agreed to work on it. Now its oh it could be this but we are too busy. Car repaired ok but took longer and the service I experienced was less custom oriented than I've received at other comparable shops.

My car was leaking fluid and the radiator kept needing to be filled. My brilliant deduction was that I had a leaking radiator. I started getting quotes for said radiator, all were between $200 and $300. The dealership wanted more than $400 and my left leg. Anyway, Al was the only guy that said..."If you would like to leave your car with us, we will diagnose it FREE of charge, so that you know exactly what the problem is." So Al had one of his guys check out my car. Turns out the radiator was fine and the water pump was bad. Thanks Al, you probably saved me from buying a radiator I did not need. read more

This place is so shady. They park my daughters car on the street for over six weeks before they even put it in their shop to look at it. We call every week and they either never answer or call back or say we are just too busy to get to it or oh we left a message -no they didn't -they lied then finally they say it'll be 200 to look at it , which we say ok. Every day my husband drives by and can tell they never move it so it still took another several weeks then they call my husband with some estimate between 2800-3800 but said can't guarantee it would fix it! So now we decide to take it to another place -so we go to pick it up and they increase the price of what they want us to pay and tell us they took it all apart and all the parts are in the trunk and here's the kicker, when I ask him for the invoice of the work they did he says oh I just deleted it Doesn't that sound pretty shady and illegal. Considering taking them to small claims court considering new mechanic said they took parts off like the motor that they never should have done and I can't believe he wanted to charge us more to put parts back in the car! We try and support local businesses but they are horrible do not ever go here! read more

I have a really old car, I mean a 88' that was making plenty of strange sounds. These guys were great. They helped me figure out what was wrong and let me know and even fixed some of the weird noises (some are more or less unfixable). They were upfront and super honest about the life of my car and they suggested what I should do, even though it wasn't going to benefit them. I have been in the automotive business for over 25 years and have never seen a shop run as poorly as this one. My nephew had a clutch and timing chain replaced and it took them over 3 months to do the job and when the clutch went out with 11,000 miles on it they would not stand behind any of their work and wanted him the repay them to take the car apart to see if they made a mistake. They talk a very convincing story about how they will treat you but just keep walking because the will rob you blind........... read more
