It's not that huge that I think anyone would get lost and it's very wide open. All dogs on the trail while we went were leashed which was great. Pretty nice place for a picnic with large open grounds. No bathrooms or water that I saw but did have it's own parking lot (although small)

I will say there's enough natural elements to distract from the huge concrete sidewalk extending the entire length of the path, which ends up emptying into a community and another fitness path (has outdoor equipment stops) on one end and a pasture of wild flowers (mostly common milkweed for monarch butterflies) roughly midpoint. At the pasture the trail is definitely NOT paved and rather rough to navigate. If you have problems walking, be cautious, yet try experiencing it in the spring and late summer to catch glimpse of the butterflies and their caterpillars eating away before their chrysalis stage. There's a small parking lot at the beginning of the trail big enough for 20 cars. This includes a couple handicap spots. I've been there twice now on the weekend and I've lucked out to find a few spots open. Once you park DON'T head for the tempting metal bridge. Go in the opposite direction where you'll see the regulations sign. Then you'll know you're in the right spot!

The best disc golf course in Durham by far, let me know if you know of another! Wind your way…read morethrough the park in our car and park in the back, the course begins to the right of the standing building. The course is 22 holes and it's a beautiful setting right in the middle of the woods--this might be a down side because there are a lot of trees to block throws... The course is well kept, they clear the leaves and move the goals according to the months listed. There are three "levels" of experience you can play to. It's never been too crowded when I've gone and makes for a great activity for a nice day. They have bathrooms and a water fountain at the park, however you'll have to provide all your own discs, record keeping, etc. Also, since you're playing in the forest, discs have been known to become misplaced because of leaves off the path, so be careful and label your discs. They have soccer/athletic fields, baseball/softball fields and a play ground at the park as well. Enjoy!

There's no real place to lose your disc, but all my discs seem to land in the muddiest place available. Park in the lot by the baseball fields and then walk up between the field and the bathroom area. It's exactly where that picture is for the listing. You'll start there and then loop around to come out real close by. I like that the holes are pretty easy to find. Sometimes I get lost in the woods looking for the next hole but the ones here are pretty well marked. It's overall a good park. Sometimes you'll run into random people walking the trail and sometimes you'll have people right behind you. But most times you can play a relaxed round with your friends.

They've got trails for running, a public pool, playground (with a gazebo and picnic benches close by), four square court, tennis courts, splash pad and plenty of field room for kickball games, dodgeball or ultimate frisbee. They even have some traveling events that use the park: the annual frisbee golf tournament--they bring all their own baskets, pickup soccer games and the random social sports teams that uses the grassy areas. You also have the opportunity to rent out the covered picnic space and fields (although it's not required). Parking is a problem for a lot of people, the main lot is very small. However you can park across the street and walk over or if you turn left on East Forest Hills Blvd. there is additional parking. The down sides are the playground isn't shaded, kids should wear shoes even when venturing into the slap pad so as not to burn their feet. Also please watch out for the slides on hot days! The street the park is off of is also a busy road, while it's away from the play ground it's parallel to the parking lot--so keep an eye on your kids. And while the surrounding neighborhoods seem good, this park can definitely bring in an interesting crowd. Unfortunately I visited the park on the wrong evening last year, a high school gathering of two of the local rival Durham schools were meeting. We went to play in the field so it didn't seem like a big deal even though the young crowd looked a little worse for wear. However about an hour after arrival a fight broke out and multiple gun shots were fired. By some miracle no one was hurt but a few friends I was with as well as other park patrons had car windows broken and I wouldn't be surprised if people needed therapy after the scary incident! Overall I'd say the park is safe during the day, just be on the lookout and leave if something/someone seems suspicious.
