I was looking for a new trail to explore since the weather is warmed up and it's not freezing outside. This park wasn't too far from where I live so I decided to check it out. It definitely needs some TLC but overall, it offers playground dog park, baseball basketball and restrooms. I wasn't crazy over the trails so I decided to skip it and I'm gonna continue my search looking for other parks that I feel like I feel more fit what I'm looking for. The signage and overall vibe of the park could use some updating. read more

Decently large and well-maintained park near Carrboro. There are a few small hiking trails but they are a bit overgrown. Nice, new tennis courts are available, and a couple small playgrounds, but not much else. You can fish in the lake, but it's small and murky. Beautiful nature but if you're looking for trails, try elsewhere! read more

I wish I have a local park like this closer to where I live! This community park has so much to offer. There are courts for basketball, tennis, sand volleyball and fields for baseball and softballs. My favorite thing about this park is the 18-hole disc golf course. The course is a little difficult for beginners since it is located in the woods. Walking trails are available around the pond for those who wants to get a few steps in. This park is great for dog owners as well since there is a fenced dog park. Since the park is so big, it never felt super crowded to me. Everything in the park looked well-maintained. Overall, it was a great place to relax or break a sweat. read more

This is a great place for walking. There are picnic tables to enjoy a lunch or dinner. It is very wooded with a nice pond. There are walking trails around the pond. Great place for an outing or to teach kids to fish. read more

Great for fishing. There are lots of places to stand and cast around the lake, and many are in the shade. The lake itself is stocked with catfish and others so you're sure to catch something. I also saw many people jogging or walking around the trail that circles the lake, which seems quite nice because it is a wide and clear trail with lots of shade. read more

Ample parking at this park which features a dog run, lake with trails, and some sports fields. I mostly come for the dog park. The fenced-in field is huge and well-kept, but doesn't offer much shade or any seating. Also, there are no water fountains, so be sure to bring some water along for your pup. Small dog owners might prefer the dog park in Durham, because this one does not offer separate runs for small dogs and large dogs. Families: they host an annual Easter Egg hunt here that is like nothing I've ever seen. Kids are broken down into age groups and then sent to various sections of the park to compete within their peer sect. It's a :huge: event, and me being one of those kids who never found the eggs because the older, faster kids would all but mow you down to get to them, so I got stuck with nothing but those cellophane-wrapped marshmallow egg candies (that are uber-disgusting), well, I fully appreciated that the kids playing-ground was leveled giving everyone a fair shot at the Easter egg legacy. read more

On a sunny Sunday afternoon, where can you go to find an open baseball field to maybe bring a cooler of beverages and start a kickball game? Anderson Park is where. This park has all kinds of facilities and space for whatever you want to get into, and is very rarely completely taken up. Basketball? Kickball? Tennis? No problem. The spots where you find the kids are far enough removed that most of your adult antics will go unnoticed and therefore you'll scar no young lives. The only downside is that, unless you're a Carrboro resident, you're looking at a spot that isn't necessarily close to anyone. That is pretty much the only drawback to a magnificent park, though. read more

Great park! Huge dog run with separate run for small dogs. Sand volleyball, tennis, and ball fields. There is a cute fishing pond with a trail around it. Kids playground and disk golf course! Seriously, hours of entertainment here for entire family. read more

I visit Anderson Park mostly for the dog run, which is larger than the area at Homestead Park and usually less crowded. Weekdays are best, of course, and as Christina mentioned there aren't separate spaces for large and small dogs. Aside from the dog park, there's also a fishing pond with a few trails nearby. It's not nearly as long as the Bolin Creek trail, but a nice jog nonetheless. As far as sports go, Anderson Park has baseball fields, basketball and tennis courts, and several multi-use fields that are primarily used for soccer (as far as I can tell). read more

My dog and I love to walk around the pond/lake at the park and see the geese and ducks happily swimming by. Probably one of the least prettiest parks in the area but it serves its purpose well. Plenty of fields and places for team sports. Some paths for running, play ground equipment and a nice size dog park are all here. Getting in and out is kind of a hassle. Only one way in and out and can be slow moving after a sporting event. read more

I normally make use of this place for jogging, which it's great for on most afternoons (weekdays are best since it can get crowded on weekends). I'm often surprised at how big the whole park complex is, especially with its network of sports fields. Occasionally there can be some unpleasantness over those fields (since space is finite), but you'll usually be ok. read more

Small park in Carrboro. Mostly ball fields. Nice playground next to sheltered picnic areas. There's a pond with a few walking trails. People leave their dogs off leash, which can be annoying, but there are signs that require all dogs to be on leash. There's a good size dog park, it's usually very busy. read more

Lots of fields and parking, a pretty duck pond and a large leash free area for doggies, where I take my dog for play time with other dogs. Beware, some owners don't always clean up after their poochies. Please don't be one of those careless slobs. There's a sign that says "no kids under 12 inside the leash-free area" but nobody pays attention to it. read more

This park has a great dog play area. Huge fenced in space with grass, shady areas and tons of room to run. I'm here on a Monday 1pm and no one else is here. It's right off the highway and super close to Carrboro. There are tons of tennis balls for the dogs to play with and chairs and sitting space for the humans. Also plenty of trash cans and bags for picking up after your dog which it looks like is done very well here. Definitely will be frequenting the dog park at Anderson. read more

My review is based solely on my recent experiences at the dog park. I'm sure the other facilities are great. I live in Carrboro, pay property taxes, and I'm certainly glad to have this park. In terms of the dog park expect over protective owners who may insult you if your dog happens to "bully" theirs. When I say "bully" what I really mean is puppy play. No biting, growling, nipping, etc. I'm not whining that my feelings were hurt I'll just not be visiting this dog park again. read more
