Our experience here was good when we came here to celebrate my friend's birthday. We ordered a bunch of different food on an assortment of platters, and received great service in the dining room, which is located to the side of the store area. Everything looked great and was artfully arranged on several large platters. The rice, bread, Cornish hen, flatbread, fish and veggies were tasty. The chicken was dry, unfortunately. Our server was prompt and thoughtful, continuously checking on us and always had a smile for us. There are booths, tables and a beautiful area where you can sit on cushions on the floor and eat on low tables. To order, you order at a counter when you first walk into the store and you can browse the super cool store while you wait or, come back when your food is ready (we went to get coffee after we browsed the store!). read more

This was the birthday boy's choice to celebrate lunch with Afghani food. What a fantastic choice it turned out to be! To access the restaurant, you enter the market and place your order at the cash register, then get seated. We actually arrived a bit too early for their lunch service. The polite and friendly lady informed us that the rice wouldn't be ready until 12:30pm, and we got there at 11am! We ordered the platter for 4 that included most of their meats, bread, salad, rice, and fries. We also ordered the dumplings, "filled with leeks and seasoning" and the bolani, a huge "calzone, stuffed with leeks and other Afghan spices then seared on a grill." Since we had time, we browsed the shelves of spices, groceries (traditional and non-traditional), beautiful tea sets and other serving ware. They also sell freshly baked desserts that all looked delectable. At 12:30pm we were shown to our big round table. We were the only patrons dining in at the time. The platter of food was brought out right away, along with a basket of bread (imagine the crust of an xl sized pizza!), the dumplings, a tray of fresh veggies (lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, onion, jalapenos, and limes), and the bolani. Y'all! The portions are big, definitely made for sharing family-style. The platter for 4 could have easily fed more. Our party of 6 had a lot of leftovers. The platter included a whole fried fish (my fave), beef/lamb kebob, beef and chicken skewers, lamb shanks, and cornish hen, all on top of a pile of fluffy rice. It came with a slightly spicy chutney and a yogurt based sauce for the bolani. The lamb was so tender and did not have a gamey taste. The chicken kebob was dry but not the cornish hen. The beef was flavorful and tender. The fish was seasoned and fried to perfection. Service was great. He took care of all of our requests right away, and even turned the a/c higher when he heard someone saying how hot they were feeling. There is also a section in the dining room for traditional floor seating. The restrooms are located in the back of the market and desperately needed restocking and attention. They had originally told us they were out of biloni but when my husband and I were sad and said we came from so far the guy made sure he would make sure we would biloni. If you are looking for a place to do a family style dinner or lunch and want to try a little bit of everything it's best to go with a little group of people and they do have a round table so it's easy for sharing. They also have tables of four and they even have an area where you can sit down on the floor and eat as well which is really authentic and a really cool experience. . So what do we order we order a family style platter which feeds up to four people but let me tell you we had six people and we still couldn't finish it so in reality it could be like to eight people easily. So what does the family platter comes with? . It comes with some beef kebab and chicken kabob some Cornish hen some fish and lamb shanks and some beef meat as well. It also comes with giant bread that is like the size of a large pizza and you get two to three of them easily and there is salad and condiments like cucumber tomato slices jalapeno and shredded lettuce. The family platter starts from $105 and up depending on how much bigger you want to add. We were really happy with the platter because it had a little bit of everything and you did not have to choose and they will just give you all the best protein in it. . Inside is a market where they do sell lots of table decorations like cups to plates and three tiers. They also have lots of spices to grocery shopping inside as well. Basically it's a little market that has all your spices and everything that you need to cook a really good meal. . For the food we did order some dumplings and those are really good filled with beef and cabbage inside and has a really nice turmeric flavor to it. . We also got some bolani which is a flat bread that has potato and leek inside and some crushed peppers which has a little spiciness to it. . The protein that we like the least was the chicken kabob because it was a little bit too over well done. It was on the dryer side and it was white chicken meat. We really like the beef Kebab it was juicy and flavorful. We also love the fish it had a really nice turmeric and spices to it like paprika and a lot more flavors that we couldn't figure out. The Cornish hen was actually really tender and it was better than the chicken kebab. We also like the bread it was Fluffy and it was great pairing it with the rice and sauces. . Overall we had a really great experience and we love doing a family style. If you like ethnic food and Afghanistan food it is a place a must try. The service was really attentive and Ambience was casual but also very welcoming and do love the party room. I love how it is a One-Stop shop with great food and a market where you can buy stuff. There is a lot of ground for improvement. Poor customer service, the waiter forget to bring our meal and one of us had to wait for our meal while everyone finished their meal. It was a very long wait. The samosas didn't look anything like the picture on the menu. They were extremely deep fried. We ordered kababs, they were dry. We ordered fish and it was extremely deep fried that there was no meat on the fish, it was eating just fish skin and fins. It was like eating chalk. We also ordered chicken and it was very dry. If I could give this place zero stars I would...They are super racist and rude . We walked in to order some food the lady behind the register did not even acknowledge us there was no other customers in the store at the time. We did order I went in the aisles to look at other grocery items. My husband went out of store I was inside. When food was ready lady at register told me your food is ready I went up and paid . When I came out of store told my husband let's go I paid for food . He's like what you mean you paid I already paid the lady at the register when I placed the order ..so she charged my husband when he placed the order and she charged me when I try picking the food she saw us together and we were the only people who had order food . So when we went back in the store to ask for refund she started arguing with us instead of apologizing for her behavior and mistake..she even went grab a guy who was wearing way too tight clothes..He started saying it's not our fault that we changed you twice ...can you believe people like this are running a business..but not for long ..on top of that their food sucks..all that headache and food is not even good..They are only nice and friendly to their Afghan people because I seen the lady and guys working in the store greeting with smile when their own people walk in ..but if you are any other race/ethnicity they are super rude ..won't even acknowledge you as a human. Finally came back to this new market located near the Florin Farmers Market in the complex with Wal Mart. Nice Afghani Market with a butcher shop, bakery, and textiles (clothing and by-the-yard fabric for sewing). There's also an in-house kitchen that makes food to go or eat there at one of about 6 booths located to the side. A friend and I had the chicken and the lamb kebabs for lunch today. The come wrapped in the house-made fresh flat bread with slices of fresh red onion, tomato, and cucumbers. Very delicious and filling. For drinks, you can order hot water and choose one of three different dry teas at a self-serve table. Or, you can purchase a soda in the cold box to enjoy with your food. If you like standing at the register and being completely ignored, then this is the place to be. My food was ordered to go. While I was standing there trying to get someone's attention, my food already paid for and ready to go, stood behind the counter for more than 10 mins. This when all that needed to be done was hand me the bag with the food in it. Very unorganized, products are all over the place. Nasty disgusting place, came in to store ordered sat down and saw a cockroach we didn't think anything of it but we saw a bunch of more gross insects and cockroaches on tables seats and everywhere else. This is my favorite place for Afghan food. Rizo the chef is the absolute best! I usually get the chicken kabob and quabli pulao but really everything here is good. They have groceries, clothes, and carpets as well. They stay busy so you have a bit of a wait time but the food is always fresh off the grill. read more

Umrah Market is an Middle Eastern (particularly Afghan) Supermarket and Eatery. It's like a one-stop bazaar. I came in here on a Wednesday afternoon to try out their food. I ordered a variety of lamb and chicken dishes for myself and my family to-go. (And a few samosas to eat while I waited, shhh don't tell my wife) as I waited for my meal I strolled around the store and they sell just about everything your kitchen would need. Anyways back to the food, I drove home and started grubbing.The meat was of high quality. Very clean and fresh.I really was impressed with the taste and the different mixes of spices the cook used. Don't come here for the Sheer yakh (ice cream). We ordered three bowls and it was topped with pistachio. The ice cream tasted like onions. I assume the pistachio was cut up with an unclean knife because all three of us tasted the same onion flavor. The ice cream was also melted and had no kaymak or milk and lacked sugar.
