Update: since the last review, I've decided to start migrating my business and personal banking to Umpqua. I have also taken out a business line of credit and a HELOC on my property with them. Greg and Tim have gone above and beyond for me in a way that Chase never would. I appreciate Umpqua's commitment to client service and am happy to be working with them. read more

They have good coffee and they don't piss me off. Apparently I'm supposed to write more, but these are the only two criteria by which I judge a bank, soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.................... read more

I have been banking at the West Seattle branch of Umpqua since it opened in Nov. 2011. The manager, Kirk, remembered my name after meeting me once. The women who work there (Kelsey, Gaby, and the rest) are the friendliest, most helpful people of any bank I have ever done business with. Last fall, while I was recovering from heart surgery, Kelsey came to visit in rehab, brought me beautiful flowers. And now, after getting a kidney transplant a week ago, she has offered to come get my deposit and make it for me, since I can't get to the bank. Now, that's a good bank, that's exemplary service.. And you get chocolate coins every time you go in (dark or milk). And, Friday is cookie day..huge cookies in a variety of flavors. Before Umpqua, I had banked at Brand X, B of A for years. They had no idea what my name was. I was just another face. If there's a branch near you, I would not hesitate to recommend joining them. If you're in West Seattle, this is the place to go. You will never regret it :) read more

I found out at four forty-five on new years eve that my debit card had been compromised. I'd made dinner plans for that night and told my friend I'd foot the bill, but my debit card was the only way I could pay for it. I called my bank right away and Barbara there told me to come on by. When I got there, at five o'clock, she had my info ready to go; she cancelled the unauthorized payments, ordered me a replacement card, and got me out the money I needed to pay for the dinner and get through the week. I am so very grateful for the courtesy and service I was shown here: an excellent branch of "the world's greatest bank." read more

I posted a negative review about Umpqua's website (specifically the business banking) and almost immediately received a call and help for my issues. That is amazing! They are amazing in person but their IT leaves a lot to be desired. I used them for our condo association and was repeatedly not allowed to sign in. One day I could, the next I could not. When I changed credit unions for my business they were NOT on my list as we do all of our banking online and that frustration convinced me not to use them. It is a shame. If you like going into a branch for your banking this is the bank for you! read more

learned of your bank and airbnb. no response from loftium on my questions. I would like to be in touch with a mortgage officer re buying a house in another state. otherwise I will just try to call. thx you. read more

I love this bank more than I expected. By a matter of happenstance, we switched our mortgage and some other banking here. I didn't want to add another bank because I've been happy with my credit union, which has a family feel to it. It only took 1 visit and they knew my name and have been wonderful and helpful ever since. Not sure why there were negative reviews in the past because this bank really is great and I highly recommend it. read more

Every time, without fail, this team greets me by name, helps me quickly and is warm and welcoming. I highly recommend banking at this branch. The manager and tellers go above and beyond there duties. The neighborhood loves them for all they do to support local business, volunteer in schools and are present at local festivals. Banking here is a breeze, they are fab. read more

I have been a small business customer of Umpqua Bank for at least six years. I am in the process of re-financing my home. I will be 60 in a few days and we have a good deal of equity in the home. It is around a 50/50 loan to value at this point. I asked to be contacted by an Umpqua Mortgage Broker. First, it took several days for him to call me. Next, when I told him I wanted a 15 year loan he right away started on the "flexiblity" just going out another 30 would give me. I said...gee thanks but "no." Then without missing a beat the guy starts to ask me about an adjustable rate loan. Are you kidding me? So you are wanting to take people close to retirement and put them in "exploding loans" why again? No one in the financial service industry who was looking out for the customer would recommend a ARM loan when they know the risks of an up move in interest rate is much higher than it going down more. Really Mr. Davis what about all that stuff about doing what is right and doing what is right for the community. To me this was an effort to sell me a loan that made no sense in order to fatten up the commissions paid or the bottom line of the bank. I told the broker to take me off the list. read more

Good Morning. I just went to the bank to deposit a check at 11.35AM. I walked in, 1 person was in line with a bank employee. A woman was seated at a computer speaking with a man in a suit. Both employees. I walked in, made eye contact with the two bank employees and then got in line. At this point the woman seated said she would be with me in a minute. I noticed some hot sauce and read about it, interesting hot sauce. I loved the crampons and ice axe! The small business section of the bank is one of my favorite features. I turned around when someone else came in because I did not want to lose my spot in line. At this point the woman seated said she could help me. I had my check and card ready. My check was deposited in someone else's account once before so now I always hand over my card as well. I asked, "How's it going?" The woman replied, "It is." At this point I knew I should have waited in line. My card fell to the counter as she did not take it. It awkwardly stayed there and I wondered if my money was headed in the right direction. I got handed a deposit receipt. The teller I was waiting for asks me if I'd like a balance on my account of any cash back. I was asked neither. I got up and walked out to the ATM to get the information myself. The man behind me got a warm greeting, "Hey, How have you been?" "I've been well." I heard him reply. I walked outside and used the ATM to get my balance and cash. The transaction number is 0328 on terminal 597830 at 11:35:04 AM. I moved here three years ago and wanted to use a local bank. I walk past Chase and Wells Fargo to get to your bank. When I walk in a coffee shop, or almost anywhere, the employees say Hello. When I walk in your bank, the manager and whomever was in a suit, maybe the regional manager?, they don't say Hello. Can you please explain why? Thanks. read more

I love them! They are all so nice and remember their customers! I really love it when businesses actually remember who their customers are and what they are typically there for! I will be going back! read more

Outstanding customer service. These ladies are the best. Always glad to visit with them for a few. America would be a much better place if everyone would swith their banks to local/regional credit unions. Surprised how bad this bank is. Opened account few months ago, requested checks printed. weeks go by, no checks, go back in and see manager again about checks, weeks go by, no checks. call the 800 # and they get me checks but wrong info is on checks !!! I just black out that info and write checks as needed. Credit card has redemption points but you have to call in to get them. The robo answer is that you can redeem online but that is not true. So called, wait, wait, operators busy, robo comes on, transfers you to agent who does not redeem points but transfers your call to another robo caller, you have to input your numbers again, etc. etc. so bad, hoping it will get better but world's best bank?? I've dealt with a few banks in my long life and this one started out the worst ever. read more

I went into Umpqua Bank to get some change and I was completely surprised. It had such a nice welcoming atmosphere. It wasn't a cold feeling like you get when you bank at other banks. The women tellers (Kelsey and Lai) were so attentive and nice. Even though I wasn't a member I felt like family. The coffee was great and I was told by Kelsey that I could take a couple of the teas home with me to try (which BTW were awesome). I am seriously considering switching over to Umpqua read more

I have my mortgage with Umpqua and have it for 7 months. In that ti e they have made three errors. the most recent error was they calle to tell me that I hadn't paid my mortgage for the month. The next day they called to tell me that they would waive the late fee. I ask where the payment was...they had received but not credited it to my account UNBELIEVABLE. Don't use this bank for mortgages they are awful. read more

So I switched to Umpqua last year because I wanted to use a local bank. I live in West Seattle and I like to do business in my neighborhood. I recently came back from a trip to Ohio to see family , and when turned my cell phone back on , I was alerted I had a VM. It was a message from Umpua telling me there had been fraudulent activity on my debit card and I was to call them immediately ! Not only was I told that the transactions were not processed by Umpqua ( it seemed like an usual purchase for me ) , but when I called Kelsey to look into it further for me she closed the account, sent me a new one, and made sure it was all handled . Do I like this personal service??? Oh my, yes!! I am almost certain my last bank would not have even noticed. Thank you Kelsey and Umpqua for being EXACTLY what I was hoping for in a local bank. The chocolate candies , fresh coffee, cookies on Fridays, and spot lights of local business ( displays ), are just the icing on the cake. Umpqua West Seattle. Where every one knows your name. read more

I love this bank! I receive exceptional customer service at this location. When I walk in they know who I am (even the manager), they ask about my son, and they quickly take care of me even though I never know my account numbers or fill out the deposit slips etc....they have cookies every Friday (Yum!) and most importantly, I love that they showcase a local business every month and are so community oriented. I love that my fav banker (Kelsey!) gets to take time off to give back to her community in whatever meaningful way she likes. We came in the day before New Years Day one year desperately needing to have a very large check clear the bank before the 1st and our teller, who knew us from only seeing us a handful of times, made a point to call the other bank that the check was written and got the check approved and deposited within a few minutes of us being there when usually a large check like this would take several days to clear. We were very grateful and she and all the team at Umpqua West Seattle earned our undying loyalty from then on! read more
