I never normally take the time to write a review but this time it deserves the effort. I had St…read more Louis Radon out to install a mitigation system because of high levels of the deadly gas in my house. Thinking about that deadly gas in MY HOUSE is crazy! So I want to share some things about this company. They did a great job first testing my home and then really explaining to me what radon gas was and what they could do to fix it. My strong advise is for everyone to get your home tested now! Anyway, we all believe our home is safe for us and our family but it may not be, so figure it out. On install day, these two guys show up, on time (actually a few minutes early) and they are uber professional. They take the time to walk through the entire house with me and explain why the system needs to be in a certain spot. They then ask, after I pepper them with multiple questions, do I have any more questions for them. I just really appreciated that level of professionalism. So over a few hours they install this system and are as polite as anyone you're hiring could be, they clean up after themselves and when they are finished, they explain my new system to me. Just really a great all around job from this company! Make sure you go with St. Louis Radon because many other installers/companies do not put the venting system above the roof line (something I learned in my research) and it is that extra effort that prevents mold and mildew on your house a year down the road. Just look around your area and you will see a difference in radon companies' work product. Thanks again St. Louis Radon!

The work itself was adequate, but there are several things prospective customers should know before…read morebooking. Most importantly: be very specific about where you want the system installed and do not defer to their suggestions. These systems are large and not particularly attractive, so if concealment matters to you, be firm upfront. A few specific issues I encountered: Pricing: STL Radon is booking several months out. When the tech arrived on installation day, my quote increased by $200. I was told I could cancel, but rebooking with another company would mean waiting several more months -- not much of a choice. Installation day: I gave permission to use my garage but asked twice that the door be kept closed when not in use (I live in the city and prefer not to advertise an open garage). The request was flatly refused. Placement: I specified where I wanted the system installed. It was placed next to my breaker box and sump pump instead, with the exhaust pipe now exiting directly by my deck. When I asked why, the tech said they assumed my basement was finished -- it is not; it's a rubble foundation with no finished space whatsoever. Resolution attempt: When I contacted the company, they offered to relocate the system only if I paid the outstanding balance in full plus an additional $1,000+. I wasn't asking for a discount -- just for what I originally requested. To make matters worse, they attempted to add late fees before the installation was even complete (it had been paused due to wind). When they returned to finish, they gave a window of 11:30-1:30 and only showed up after I texted to ask if they were still coming after 4:45pm. I'm not saying avoid them entirely, but go in with your eyes open and get everything in writing.
