    Poke Bowl

I stumbled upon this place because the place next-door for Poké bowls was closed. What a treat. I would definitely make this a destination stop in the future. The Poké was fresh. The rice was seasoned perfectly, there was delicious seaweed 10 out of 10. Best Poké bowl I have ever had.

Everything is done by phone, and a robot brings your food, which made the whole experience feel both old-world and futuristic at the same time. Well-presented, affordable, not a whole tray, in fact, more than I anticipated. Everything came at or above room temperature. Better than from a fridge, but kind of higher temp than I'd like sushi. The krab salad: delicious except spicy. It had no description online. The eel/cucumber roll: I tried one piece and decided it needed the fridge. Well constructed and exactly as described. The Walla Walla roll: ALMOST amazing. But the tempura shrimp was fried at too low a temp so the entire roll tasted of fry oil. To their credit clean fry oil, but my lips were coated in grease. If it had been fried right and drained, that roll would be delicious. Cut into 4ths was huge slices. Lastly, I didn't expect mustard instead of wasabi. The krab salad was so spicy I didn't need wasabi, just surprised.

My mom is originally from Japan so she is very picky when it comes to Japanese food. She was so happy with everything we ordered, she wants to come back next time she visits. We ordered the geso (fried squid legs), grilled squid, ahi tataki (seared ahi special), katsu don, shishito peppers, yakitori combo, variety meat combo, udon, and Kalbi. Everything was cooked perfectly and was so tasty! My mom is still raving about the katsu don! I can honestly say this is the best and most authentic Japanese restaurant in Kitsap County. Thank you Oishi Kitchen for being soooo oishi!! We will be back soon!

Definitely worth a try! I ordered the karaage chicken bowl. There was a lot of chicken pieces and a heavy serving of "egg fried rice" underneath. Very filling, and very delicious. The chicken is fried, and it comes with green onion which breaks up the creamy richness from the egg and fried chicken flavors. It was so much food, I had leftovers to take home for lunch the next day. The entrees come with miso soup before the meal arrives at your table, so we were happy with the fried chicken skin appetizer and miso soup starter, then to finish it off with our entrees. Everything tasted good, hot and fresh. The staff were friendly, fast, and attentive. It's located in a shopping strip next to a gas station. It's a great spot for a hearty, quick bite to eat.

But now they've moved to some new secret location and they're never open. I'm a businessman and I'd like to make money, and I want to be successful. So I'm confused as to why Cafe Kai is never open anymore? Don't they want to be successful in making a profit? You would think that if you move to a new location, you'd want people to find where you are located, and you'd want to be open long enough to sell some product. Cafe Kai's food is very good but their location is terrible and their hours are horrendous. I certainly hope the owners at Café Kai will read this review and maybe they'll pull the heads out of their rear end and stay open longer and perhaps make a couple of signs showing the secret hideout where they have moved. We hope they will change course stay open longer so that we can find them. OK guys ball balls in your court.

I expected more since there were plenty of good reviews, but I think we should've spent some more time searching. For context, we wanted a good sushi dinner - willing to spend a little more on special rolls, etc. I would maybe consider this spot again if you were to just come for some appetizers or regular rolls, but don't come here expecting phenomenal sushi. We got the pork belly lettuce wraps and the sweet coconut shrimp. The lettuce wraps were a highlight/our favorite and honestly I would come back for just these. The coconut shrimp was OK, but not anything to write home about. For sushi, we got the Black Widow and X-File special rolls, the chu-toro sashimi, and one yamagobo maki. The most expensive part, the chu-toro, was not as good as I'd expect it to be for the price point. I've had much better (cheaper) toro so this was the biggest let-down. The special rolls were good, but again, not great. I definitely favored the Black Widow roll, as the soft-shell crab was very yummy. Service was also lacking a bit. It was not busy but our waiter wasn't super attentive. Waters sat empty for a while at one point, and in general it just took a while in between visits.
