    Poke Bowl

I stumbled upon this place because the place next-door for Poké bowls was closed. What a treat. I would definitely make this a destination stop in the future. The Poké was fresh. The rice was seasoned perfectly, there was delicious seaweed 10 out of 10. Best Poké bowl I have ever had.

My initial visit was over nine years ago back in 2/4/17 when the restaurant was smaller. It's a great sign to see its longevity, posted local awards, and space expansion for additional seating. Interior seating choices available include booths or tables. Wait staff was pleasant and efficient handing us ice waters, menus, napkins, chopsticks, and flatware upon seating. Same pleasant interior with healthy plants and an aquarium. Menu items have expanded and also offers bubble tea. We shared a fresh roll with grilled pork and their tasty dipping sauce. Love the crunch and overall fresh composition. Mom had the seafood pho which arrived in a ginormous bowl and I opted for the steak and meatball pho in a smaller bowl. We shared the provided fresh bean sprouts, basil, and lime wedges, but passed on the sliced jalepenos. The broth was so on point, there was no need to adjust the seasoning. But if needed, there is a variety of additional condiments available at each table to customize one's bowls further. Entree servings and content are so generous, that we ended up packing up our leftover phos. I also bought an additional iced Vietnamese phin style coffee with condensed milk to go. That was nice, smooth, and hit the spot while waiting to board the ferry. Back again in under a week with my mom, but also in tow with The Homie (5/5/26, visit 2of2). This time our visit was much earlier in the day at 1030am, but during our visit the booths filled up with others dining onsite or getting orders to go. Very personable waitperson who also gave us ample time to consider menu options. We shared again the exact fresh roll with grilled pork - tasty, consistent, and generously filled. Mom had her ginormous bowl of seafood pho again and was happy to have all the fresh bean sprouts, basil, and lime wedge to herself. She had been fasting for an earlier doctor's appointment and labs, so she went to town and was focused on her pho. Again, chockful of shrimp, squid, imitation crab/surimi, and fish balls with onions, cilantro, plus that flavorful pho broth and noodles. The Homie was very happy to be able to order pork fried rice without the peas and carrots. Great presentation with the generous pork, scrambled egg throughout, and green onion. Despite earlier items consumed prior, he managed to eat half of the generous entree and had a considerable portion to take home. I tried their version of shaking beef with a scoop of steamed white rice, tender chunks of beef sauteed with sliced romaine, cilantro, green peppers, and onions in a garlic sauce. I did end up picking out the onions to add to the other entree of pork fried rice and separated the green peppers due to personal preference. I ate a few bites, and ended up taking the majority of it home. Again, just the sheer size of the generous serving provided. Worthy detour off of Hwy 303 in East Bremerton for consistent, flavorful menu items and on point customer service! Great dining experiences twice in under a week! 4 stars bumped up to five stars for these two recent visits.

Sweetness and ice adjustments are not displayed on the menu, but the bobarista is happy to take any requests into account. OG Milk Tea, 50% Sweet, 50% Ice w/ Boba ($7.70) - The milk tea is not too sweet and is mixed well with no grittiness. Flavor-wise, it's a kind of a generic black tea. Nothing special or outstanding but also no off flavors. The boba is pretty similar in quality - a bit on the firm side, very smooth pearls, but very inconsistent in size. They aren't soaked very long in whatever sugar solution they use since there isn't much sweetness on the exterior and the main taste comes from the molasses mixed in with the tapioca starch. Milk Tea Rating: 3.5/5 Boba Rating: 3.5/5 While I wouldn't make any special trips to get the drinks at Boba Buddies, it's good enough to get again anytime I happen to visit and eat at Pop Up Kitchen. The walls and bench are dingy and extremely scuffed. It's also very warm inside and uncomfortable to hangout in due to temperature and the hard seating. It's a shame because this could be a super cute place to spend time and host small events if they would update it! The young gals could work on their customer service. They're not rude per say, but they could try harder to greet customers and connect at the register. I've worked at Starbucks for 8 years, having genuine conversations with customers and turning them into regulars is the best part of the job! Work is as fun as you make it. I try to chat with the girls and they respond kindly but you can feel they'd rather not participate in conversation lol. I did sit one time and watched them work through a rush and they crushed it! They laughed and high-fived, and that energy was so cute and is exactly what is needed every day. You girls are awesome when you let your personalities shine! I get the A.13 (?) I think. The brown sugar milk tea with oatmilk. They've made it perfect both times, and I'm so appreciative of them! I hope the gals see the constructive feedback and work on customer service, but my biggest reason for 3 stars is management neglecting the appearance of the business. Please fix this! I want to visit more with my girl friends and gab comfortably.

The food was pretty good and generous for what you pay for. The fried rice had a very pale color, which I wasn't used to. Waiters were both rude and had a real bad attitude. It was almost like we were bothering them by being there. Ordered our food despite having the feeling of they didn't want us there. Ordered the bbq pork plate, chicken pad Thai, and sweet and sour chicken and egg rolls. Pork was under cooked (pink on inside), pad Thai noodle was so watery that the sauce diluted with the water from I guess boiling the noodles, sweet and sour chicken.... I have no good words. Egg rolls were the only thing that was great, oh and the Thai tea was good too. This place really missed the mark, I will blame it on going close to 8pm.
