The food here is very good. I have eaten here three times and found the food to be very good and the staff friendly and attentive. It's got a good Japanese vibe with the decor something you see in Japan. I have tried the tempura udon on the lunch menu and it is excellent. I had the Hakata Special on the dinner menu and it was good but it is a bit pricey and it took a bit of time to get it out. I will stay with their standard dinner meals next time.

This was a nice little place to stop in and dine in Silverdale, WA. The service was quick and great and the food hit the spot. I'd definitely come back!

Absolutely delicious food. I had the tempura and yakiniku combo, and my wife had the chicken teriyaki. Everything was so flavorful. The portions are big, the prices reasonable, and the service was top notch. First time here. A new favorite for sure. Worth noting that rolls are 20% off during happy hour

Hakata is the best Japanese style food and sushi in Kitsap! The service is fast and friendly, in a comfortable family friendly atmosphere. We ordered Yakisoba noodles, Pork Katsu, and this amazing sushi/sashimi platter. Everything was sooo good, and the portions were enough to share.

It was busier than usual. I don't think I've seen it so packed. We had to wait for about 10 minutes. Again, not long, but not the usual. They don't have very many beverage choices. They probably have good alcoholic ones, but I don't drink alcohol. I got water. I got pickled beans sprouts, (they're so good), potato croquettes (another fave, but I had to ask for the sauce. They gave me a big thing of it), and cucumber rolls. After waiting a while, I asked about the rolls. They came out about 2 minutes after asking about them. I wonder if it had been sitting or something. They apparently put wasabi in each roll, which they don't usually do. I like when it's plain. Everything ended up good, but it seemed like an off night. The atmosphere is nice. You can sit up close to the kitchen and watch them make sushi. There's a big TV now. I like the decorations, too.

Need some sushi for lunch or dinner? This place has got some fresh fish ready to serve up! We started off with some vegetable tempura and gyoza. Hot and very well battered tempura and the gyoza was ok; a little crispy around the edges. Then we got the a few sushi rolls and then the Ahi Tower. This was presented beautifully and very well flavored. Nice atmosphere and good prices. Green tea was good but could be served a little hotter. Only one server during lunch time to take phone orders and tables so patience is needed. All in all, very good and tasteful!

We have been going to this place for over 30 years and it is always fabulous. I had never tried this tower before and it was completely totally amazing. Highly recommend this place.

    Nabeyaki udon

My friend took me here having hyped it up quite a bit. We were disappointed to find it was a different restaurant a couple storefronts down from the original which is sitting empty. The food was nothing special. I ordered nabeyaki and they said it came with tempura but instead it came with a few soggy strips of chewy fried dough? No fried shrimp, no fried veggies. Friend got stir fried noodles with beef and it tasted like cheap Chinese restaurant food. So sad that the integrity of the original restaurant is completely lost. Don't be fooled like we were!!

    Discolored spicy tuna roll

Got take out sushi tonight, which is usually amazing as Hakata is our go to spot. However, tonight something was just off. We ordered three of the fancier rolls and a smaller spicy tuna roll. Not sure if something was wrong with the rice tonight, but all of the bigger rolls instantly fell apart when trying to pick pieces up with chopsticks. The spicy tuna roll had a weird color to it and first bite instantly left a weird fishy taste in my mouth, way out of the range of the normal fresh spicy taste we're used to. Don't know if they have a new chef in training or something but for the $90 we paid for sushi tonight it was very disappointing and a far drop down from what we are used to getting.

So good! Especially for date night. You also get a nice little sashimi piece to try before you order! 10/10 recommend!

I wouldn't have guessed it would be in the Shell gas station, and when I first arrived I thought it had closed. To my delight, it was still open, and I just had to walk into the store. I felt like I was transported back to my hometown with all their decorations and stickers. The food was absolutely amazing with great prices and portions! The meat jun was something I can never find on the mainland, until now! Too bad I like 3 hours away (that won't stop me from visiting). The service is quick and if you want to make sure they have what you want, I suggest you get there towards the opening hours. The first day we went was during the last two hours of open and they sold out of meat Jun and their spam + egg musubis, but the next day we got there at open and they had it all! Amazing food, service, and ambience! You definitely need to try this place!

I expected more since there were plenty of good reviews, but I think we should've spent some more time searching. For context, we wanted a good sushi dinner - willing to spend a little more on special rolls, etc. I would maybe consider this spot again if you were to just come for some appetizers or regular rolls, but don't come here expecting phenomenal sushi. We got the pork belly lettuce wraps and the sweet coconut shrimp. The lettuce wraps were a highlight/our favorite and honestly I would come back for just these. The coconut shrimp was OK, but not anything to write home about. For sushi, we got the Black Widow and X-File special rolls, the chu-toro sashimi, and one yamagobo maki. The most expensive part, the chu-toro, was not as good as I'd expect it to be for the price point. I've had much better (cheaper) toro so this was the biggest let-down. The special rolls were good, but again, not great. I definitely favored the Black Widow roll, as the soft-shell crab was very yummy. Service was also lacking a bit. It was not busy but our waiter wasn't super attentive. Waters sat empty for a while at one point, and in general it just took a while in between visits.

My family ordered the salmon poke salad, salmon chirashi bowl, salmon roll, soft shell crab roll and the crazy roll. The fish was fresh and overall the experience was very good. However one of our big complaints about the way some sushi rolls are made is how large they are. You cannot possibly put a whole piece of 1 of these rolls in your mouth. It's more like 4 deconstructed bites, which is annoying to eat. The chirashi bowl was good but the rice had too much ponzu sweet sauce. We ordered the fresh wasabi and the potency wasn't as strong as in the tube but fresh is more flavorful, at least IMHO. The ambience and atmosphere was nice. Restrooms are located in the common area of the mall. Menu was extensive with non-fish items as well. Overall a solid place to go for dinner.
