I went to this location on 10/13/24 at noon. Jasmine asked me to put my phone number in for my rewards which I did, she did not confirm my name after that or ask if i wanted to use my rewards points towards my purchase which they usually always do. At the end of the transaction when I chose how i'd like to receive my receipt it showed an email that is not mine. I called customer service and confirmed that this employee Jasmine put her own rewards in for my purchase that was over $250. This is completely disappointing and ridiculous, I hope to be able to get my points towards the purchase and I hope no one else get their points stolen by this employee. read more

Never coming back here. Scheduled partial highlights and the woman who did it told me after wasting my money and time that I should have booked a longer session in order for her to get it as light as I wanted. Cut my hair without telling me anything about pricing. Was incredibly rude and cold during the hair color session. 175 bucks went down the drain. I complained to the manager and she was even more rude and more obnoxious. Never had a sloppier job on my hair for that much money. read more

The manager there has a nasty attitude. She walk around with an ego that's 10* her size. I will never return to this place. I purchased fragrance here once and will return it after considering her nasty attitude. I had a cut and blow out with Claudia today. She expertly handled a botched diy cut I had given myself. She was patient and kind and really worked with me to figure out the best way forward. I couldn't be happier with the result. This is the 3rd haircut I've had at this location and I have to say that all of the stylists have been really skilled and super friendly. read more

This review is for the store, and not the beauty salon. I will do my best to review this place as accurate as I can. Reason? There have been a few times that I have come and nobody is there to help you and ending walking away annoyed but sometimes they do such a great job, that I ended up walking away with a bag loaded with stuff. So here is what I think: The place is big and they have lots of beauty product to choose from. The left side is all high-end brands of makeup and skin care. If you know your stuff, you can go and grab what you want. You can try as many products as you want (only high end makeup) and take all the time you want. That's nice if you are knowledgeable about makeup. But, if you don't know much about makeup, or maybe you would like to try something new, but don't know where to start, there is where Ulta staff can and should help you, if you can find one that is free. Well, today, I decided my new tactic: Need help? Go up to the front and ask for help. You may have to wait a bit, but help will come. That is where I met Kevin G. I wanted to switch my foundation from a powder to a liquid, and I asked him for a suggestion. He did great. Because he took his time with me and didn't feel rush, I ended up buying a foundation, concealer and blush he recommend me. Have you heard of their return policy? It's amazing!! You can return any product within 60 days, even if you use it a few times. Did you buy a very expensive eye cream but after a few time using it, its making you skin irritated, or just didn't like? Bring it back. Make sure you done use more that 70%. You can return anything that meet their criteria (I read their return policy in their website). You can ask for money back if you have your receipt or payed with credit card or used your loyalty card. They can looked it up. If not, you can get credit store. This is one of the biggest reason I come back. I will update my review with me future experience, and share more tips. read more

I need to really write on here cause I'm very upset. I understand by me and making a post about this. Some of you were going to realize that I have a fake name on here but here we go. I'll let this girl named Allie do my hair on December 26 and girl I don't think she knows anything about my hair type. Everything's fine and normal and she asked me if I wanted to blow out and of course I asked for it because I know it's included in the $50 regular haircut thing because I've gotten a haircut from y'all before but just in the Poughkeepsie one, so she takes out this machine And she starts blow drying my hair but I realize she's not moving her hand or brushing it like a blowout would be and then when she's done I realize she like blowed out my hair, but like curled it to which aggravated me because I have naturally curly hair so if I wanted to keep it curly I would've said keep it curly. I didn't bug about it. I just let it slide but one thing I do hate is when people go in with like these thick huge Shirley Temple curls in my hair it never looks good on me. Anyway, I figured she did it because I have super thick hair and to blow dry It probably would've been more work. She did go in with a lot of product. I can definitely feel it in my hair like hairspray, and this other spray so that my hair will dry faster, but I didn't know it was that she was going to add an extra charge for like blow drying and curling my hair. I feel cheated because she did less work and I had to pay more. I would've deafly felt more comfortable for paying $90 if she had done like beach wave curls. Those are cute but like chunky Shirley Temple curls definitely not worth it and definitely some thing I didn't ask for. So I get home and I'm aggravated I'm feeling my hair and I feel the product in it and there's too much I start straightening my hair and I realize the curtain bangs she did on me are thicker on one side than the other, I called the salon, crying explaining to them what happened and they offered for me to get another Haircut complementary just to fix it but I'm gonna be honest I'm up here at 4 AM not being able to fall asleep because one my hair feels horrible because of the product and it's nodding up at the end and just knowing that my hair is messed up and I have to go a week without looking like this I'm so mad. If I wanted to spend $90 dollars on a haircut, I would've gone to the Dominican place where they could've actually done something with my hair instead of cheat me out of my money. I know for a fact that my hair is gonna be greasy within the next two days but I'm gonna be honest I'm just gonna go to my friend then go back to yall to get it fixed because I don't think I can. Trust y'all anymore with it. After a haircut, and a blowout, my hair should feel smooth and the ends should feel really soft, but I'm not getting that here and to be honest I would love to have my money back but y'all can keep it. read more

I am so disgusted with the results of my "formal makeup application." For a blow out and formal makeup application, I was charged $130. No eyeliner, no bronzer or highlight like I asked. She didn't know how to glue on the eyelashes that she charged me $10 + the cost of the lashes extra for. She glued my eyes shut multiple times and then had the audacity to still charge me for that. I mainly went there for the eye makeup application but she didn't even do that right. I will say, she did a nice blow out and curl. But if you're looking for a formal makeup application, do not let Amanda do your makeup. My eyebrows are overdrawn. I didn't even ask for the eyebrows. I went out like this...she did me all the way dirty. Then at the end she was rushing to get done. I'll NEVER go there again and If I do, I won't allow her to do my makeup. SALON - If you are looking for a great hair stylist, Layla is AWESOME. I went there for the first time a couple months ago after having some rough experiences at various salons in Middletown and Newburgh. Layla took the time to consult with about my hair - not just the kind of cut I wanted but the texture of my hair, how the cut would work with the texture, how the changes would affect styling my hair, etc. As she cut she would constantly verify that everything was even and I was happy with the progress - first time for that and I like that approach! She answered all my questions as she styled my hair (it was a pretty radical cut from what I had) and showed me some tricks on how to style my hair at home. My hubby and child have also had their hair cut since then by Layla and they were also very happy with their cuts. I will absolutely keep going back to Layla. STORE - On the other hand, the reason for taking off two stars is the store itself. I love Ulta and their point system because it beats Sephora hands down, but this particular store is one of they messiest, customer unfriendly Ulta's I have ever been in - bar none. 1. Half the product testers are missing/stolen, the remaining ones are disgusting. I get that this is due to other customers who don't give a rat's behind about how they act in public and don't treat things with respect, and that to keep replacing product testers when idiots decide to steal them is expensive, but they need a better method. Maybe gluing the testers into the display spots, or attaching a security tag to them... something. It's sad customers at this particular location are so disrespectful to the staff and other customers. 2. The store employees tend to congregate in one area and gossip even when the store is super busy and the staff at the checkout counter are dying for help. They do each other's makeup, talk, and pretty much ignore customers and the condition of their area (except Clinique - I can't remember her name, but she is always pleasant, helpful, and the Clinique area is the cleanest in the store). If your area has no product out, has smeared makeup all over the display, or has several customers needing help, get off your butt and do the job you are paid for because how you act reflects poorly on your employer and ends up all over social media. I have worked in retail and know how hard it is to keep up with customers that put product back wherever they want, open up products to try them then put them back on the shelf (instead of ASKING an employee to try a product so it can be properly accounted for - plus no one wants to buy a lipstick you slathered all over your lips then put back on the shelf. GROSS) 3. Their clearance section is another huge mess. It's difficult to impossible to determine how much something marked as clearance costs. Half the items have been opened/used, are broken beyond use, or are very expired. Please stop putting items like lipstick, gloss, eyeshadow, etc. that have been opened and touched by dirty hands by inconsiderate customers back on the shelf even in the clearance section. Do RTV or lost product, but don't try to sell a returned or opened half used product to another customer. 4. STOCK THE SHELVES - seriously. I always see boxes of product sitting back by the salon on carts, which makes the store look even messier, but employees bopping around doing makeup for each other or on their phones or standing around talking. I have to say that the only local Sephora in the Galleria Mall is just as bad about all this - empty shelves, missing testers, customers opening products and putting back on shelves - but their employees tend to be a lot more rude to customers. Save yourself the annoyance and frustration and shop online. Great selection, fast shipping, and you get new, unopened, unused products. read more

This is my favorite salon in the area. The staff is lead by an award winning stylist who is on top on all the newest trends. She and the rest of her staff have gone out of their way to keep me updated on the specials being held at the salon. When my daughter and I go in, they make her feel so special just like one of the big girls, not a 7 year old. They always do a great job at a reasonable price from a color, blow out or up do. Being a dedicated Ulta customer for years now an experience today has changed my view on the Ulta Beauty in Middletown, NY. After using Ulta's online booking system for a haircut and full head of highlights I arrive to check in for my appointment to be told they didn't have time for me. The stylist Jess that I booked my appointment with told me she tried to call me to tell me about the situation, I did receive the calls and attempted to call back but was put on hold for 10 minutes before I hung up. Jess told me that a customer was giving her a hard time so she bumped her appointment back, bumping mine back an hour and a half and downgrading to only a haircut. I felt like my time and money didn't matter to the Ulta Beauty in Middletown, NY and won't be looking to making an appointment or shopping there anytime soon. I would honestly rate Ulta a 0 if I could. read more

I had my hair done here twice (both for special events). Both times my hair came out better than expected! The stylists are personable and kind! They listen to what you want and always deliver. I used them this past November for hair and makeup for a Military Ball and they were so helpful and reassuring (as I was so nervous!) They were so excited for me and helpful in helping me to decide what I should do with my hair and makeup. The salon prices are good! The staff throughout the store are friendly and helpful! I just wish it wasn't so expensive to shop there! read more

I went to Ulta last week to shop with my youngest daughter; I was amazed at the "watchful" eyes... I had their shopping bag with some items in it - wanted to buy a bigger bottle of Chloe - love it!!! But was very disappointed at the constant Watch employees were doing- my Chloe had a sensor that started to go off- as I walked the store- the girl came up and took it fr me and said she needed to leave it on the counter- ok why have it on the shelf then best u keep them behind the counter like cigarettes... I just hated the experience as if I was going to steal- mind u I spent over $300 there- I understand shoplifting and this season but find a less invasive way to watch for these things than make paying customers uncomfortable read more

In the past I had always had a great experience here. The stylists were professional and did good work but the prices were high and it took a long time for your service. I loved the convenience of being able to book an appointment online too. That all changed today. I made an appointment for 5 days later for highlights and a cut/formal style because I had a wedding to go to that day. My appointment was for 9:15am. The next day I got a call from someone at the salon saying that there may have been an issue with the computer and they couldn't accommodate my entire appointment request. When I called them back, the first girl I spoke to said she didn't know why it had happened but they couldn't do my highlights. When I tried to ask questions her only response was "I'm not sure". So I asked for someone else to call me back. I got a call from the assistant manager who said the same thing that they couldn't do my entire appointment. I asked how that could happen if her system allowed me to book it in the first place. The highlights were the main reason for my visit. She proceeded to tell me that it's an issue with the computer system they use and that the salon has told Ulta corporate about it and nothing gets done. I understand things happen, but as the leader of that business take ownership for your department and try to make it right! I was blown away by how quickly she just wrote me off. If you want to make options like online booking available for your clients, either stand behind them or do something about it. read more

I love Ulta! Having said that, I have never had a pleasant experience shopping at this location. Sales associates are completely unprofessional, lack knowledge about store products, and blatantly ignore customers. The overall look of the store is very messy and products are not well stocked. My last visit took the cake for me. It took me quite some time to find a sales associate. I finally found two sales associates who were standing in a corner doing makeup consultations for.. each other! I said, "Excuse me, can you please help me?" They ignored me until I asked two more times. Having finally gotten their attention, I asked when they were getting in more of Urban Decay's primer. They each answered, "Um, I don't know." and then turned to consult with one another again. When I was ready to check out, there was no one at the checkout counter. I turned to spot a sales associate looking at me from one of the aisles. When she saw me look at her, I kid you not, she ducked behind the shelving! I walked over and said, "Can you please help me check out my items." She responded, "Oh um. A clerk should be over there shortly." Then she promptly walked away. I spent over $170 in the store that day. The sales clerk who checked out my items was acted unfriendly and uninterested. She did not tell me how many Ulta points I had to use (I was so frustrated at that point that I forgot to ask), and gave me no samples. I have NEVER gone to an Ulta store and not gotten at least one sample. I gave the sales associate a coupon for my Ulta birthday gift and she said, "Oh, will you be doing that as well?" WTH?!! She didn't even wish me a "Happy Birthday". This Ulta location makes me so angry and frustrated that I am going to write a letter to Ulta corporate. They need to know what is going on at this location so that hopefully, they can make significant changes. Until that happens, I am done with this location. I would rather order online! read more

I have never been an Ulta girl ; always Sephora or Mac. I passed by today because I needed some hair products and the girls at the register didn't greet just chatting away. Also I needed help around the nail polish area and because everything is so confusing nothing is really labeled that well; not to mention nothing was in the right spot. I decided to go to Ulta after always going to sephora thinking it would be cheaper which it is not! Which I don't mind bc I prefer good quality makeup. I like that your able to test out the makeup before purchasing but I guess they don't bc when I was trying out an eyeshadow from the sample I overheard one of the workers saying "it's so gross when people try on the makeup and put it directly on their face" .... now 1. How else would I try it? & 2. If I'm going to purchase 30$ eyeshadow I'm going to be testing it out, that's why there are applicators and mirrors all over the store so right from there I felt very judged through out the whole time I was shopping. I also had my 6 month old son with me and they are NOT kid friendly they accused me of stealing and said it very loud where I was able to hear over there little headset all because I had to get in my sons diaper bag that was attached to the stroller to make him a bottle. I was so angry mind you I spent a good amount of money there. I will not go back there if you are thinking about going to this Ulta just beware they are very judge mental and two faced they will smile in your face an help you and than talk about you to their other co workers over there headset. Very unprofessional and loud amongst themselves when they are converting, It kind of felt like I was in high school again , and these woman looked to all be in there late 20s early 30s, so sad. Walked in looking to refresh my make up stash and start from scratch, knowing this was going to be a quite pricey haul. Some of the products I have been using, I was not happy with and wanted to some advice from a professional. I walked up and down the make up aisles looking at products for a good 20 minutes hoping to pick the brain of some employees on products I was interested in. In that time maybe 2 or 3 employees were in the same area, talking among themselves about another employee, what their plans were this weekend, and were all applying makeup on themselves, re-doing their lip gloss, gossiping, greeting another employee who walked over and gawking over her hair. But not one of them asked me or the other three customers (one in a wheelchair) in that area if we needed help. I seriously thought to myself .. "what if I was secret shopper" . I was waiting for someone the whole time to just ask if I needed help so I could ramble off the list of products that I was interested in and they could have lied and said they were great and I would have bought them. So just as I was giving up and just going to purchase the two products I had in my hand already, another employee in a white jack (assuming a make up artist) came over from out of the blue and asked if I needed help. Explained to her what I was looking for and in 5 minutes she helped me find an amazing foundation I am in love with along with multiple other things I had questions about. IN 5 MINUTES of probably the whole 30 minutes I spent in there having to listen to the other employees personal Drama. So THANK YOU lady in the white coat. You never know who is in your store, and how much money you are losing for your store just by simply not saying " Hi, How are you". read more

i don't understand the horrible reviews, maybe i went there on a good day. i hate sephora i think they are always dirty and the sales people push certain product that they get gratis for selling, their make up looks ridiculous, anyway i was afraid ulta would be the same but it was clean easy to shop fun, i saw 3 happy people getting their hair done. It made me want to come in i've been looking for a new place. but then i look at all these horrible reviews and i am concerned i guess ill visit again to make sure, but the ladies i spoke to in the store were nice and knowledgeable. I am actually very picky with customer service and brand education because I've been a cosmetics retail manager for many years now and i can honestly say these ladies knew what they were talking about and had tasteful fun make on. Went in to buy perfume, which is expensive to begin with. I picked out a bottle of Prada priced at $68.00. I happened to see a big sign that said receive a free beach tote with any fragrance purchase of $40.00 or more. I didn't feel too bad about spending so much on the perfume since I'd be getting a free bag. I go to the register, she rings up the perfume with no mention of the bag, so I ask about it. She says, "Umm, I don't think we have anymore. She calls the Manager up to ask and the Manager says, "We ran out of those on Father's Day, that promotion has been over." I pointed out that the sign was still up (mind you, Father's Day was about 2 weeks ago). She walks away and takes the sign down. I see that there are a bunch of beach bags behind the counter, so I say to the sales girl, "Can't I have one of those?" She tells me no, they are for other promotions. I said to her, the manager was just up here, can't she make that decision? Needless to say, I did not get a bag. After paying $71 and change after taxes, I got half way through the parking lot, turned back around, went back in the store and returned the perfume. If they can't accommodate their customers with something advertised that they probably don't even pay for, I don't need to give them my money or my business. read more

this store needs to get it together. It seems mismanaged. About 6-8 girls standing in thr middle of the store talking, and not about work. Many customers in the store. I cant say I expected much this time, my last visit I couldnt get help finding something, everyone would point and tell me it is on the other side of the store. read more

I made an appointment at 12noon and came in a little earlier but my hairdresser wasn't available . I was patiently waiting and she took me at 12 35pm. I needed to do roots and haircut. She did my roots, ( don't want to mention any names) she started a new customer. I had my paint on for 55 minutes. I felt like my head is burning and felt uncomfortable . Finally , she washed my hair and left me for another 5 minutes with paint in my hair. The she washed my hair and left me hanging for another 20 minutes. I have brushed my hair myself only to find out that lots of my hair were burned from over exposure for over 55 minutes. At 205 pm, still busy with another customer I have decided to quit and told her that I am leaving. She offered with a smile 1/2 a price for next hair cutting. I was charged for something that is costing me now lots of extra conditioning and left with lots of frizzy hair that were over processed. I will never come back to Ulta even if they pay me for the services. I was a steady customer for over 2 years . Seems like my good hairdresser either left or got fired , but whoever they keep right now doesn't do a justice to customers. Bottom line, stay away from this place. Renata Z. read more

My wife and i visited this store yesterday afternoon to buy a flat iron. The store was fairly empty and there were a number of employees, but none of them approached us to ask if we needed assistance. Which we did. The flat/curling iron area has a number of posters stating that the experienced staff will help you find the iron for your hair. These posters were not accurate. None of them helped us. They were passively moving/stocking merchandise. I used my phone to find a flat iron with good reviews and we bought that one. Very different experience from a Sephora, where the sales people are all very friendly and offer to help you. read more

The girls in the salon do a wonderful job and are extremely nice. I take my 2 1/2 year old with me and Cheryl is so good good with her. My little one looks forward to getting her hair trimmed and we have always been happy with our experience there. I'm not sure why there are comments on here saying the store is dirty or that the staff are rude - I've been greeted on the way in and have always been able to get help finding things when I need it. read more
