I went in for a very last minute blowout this week and Dondy was awesome! I wish she could be my regular stylist! I came in for a blowout and wasn't able to add in the notes that I have extensions. That was zero issue for her once I arrived and we got going right on time. She did an awesome wash on my hair which needed it so badly and I think she put in an extra treatment or clarifier type of thing. My hair was in bad shape, and she really got it looking good with the wash, and then the styling! We chatted for most of the appointment, and I really liked her vibe! She's the kind of person that everybody wants to be friends with. Really awesome blowout experience and It was super cheap! I had bought a few items for my daughter who needs some makeup for her dance team because they have multiple different looks and themes and had gotten many judgy remarks from a worker named kim or kimberly about how my daughter shouldn't be wearing makeup at her age. First of all, my daughter loves doing dance and makeup and wants to do it, nobody is forcing her. Secondly, for a person especially an employee to give me parenting advice is wild and this lady needs to be retrained in social cues and how to be a good employee immediately she is dragging down the business. Worst customer service!!!! Walked in and no one greeted my daughter and I. No associates bother to ask if we needed assistance, plenty of associates just walking around not doing nothing. Mind you they had the time and energy to monitor us. She was so incredibly pushy about getting a certain type of store credit card and I told her I was paying with cash and then she asked me why i didn't insert my card. I was here last week and had an uncomfortable interaction with a woman named Kimberly who was checking me out at the cashier desk. She told me my card was declining and that I needed to call the bank and looked me up and down and laughed under her breath. How is it my fault that the Apple Pay sensor wasn't working? i usually don't go this this specific ulta location but the other day i went i was absolutely shocked by the employees behavior. i had come in with some friends and decided to redeem my birthday gift offered in store. the ulta app claims i will get a mini lancôme crème but instead this store took out a box of samples and offered it instead. they pointed out a package in the pile and told me it was a "pore extractor". i immediately thought this was a type of device that would extract your pores, as i had seen in the past and was excited to redeem this good gift. i left the store and immediately opened it outside. inside the box was only 2 pieces of plastic heads. i was so confused because i was given MACHINE REFILLS. the box did not say that at all and the employees told me it was the device itself. i looked up the original product in it costs $199.99!! i was so shocked they would gift a refill for a $200 product. i went back into the store and asked if i could exchange the refills for a shampoo sample instead. either way, i was not getting the lancôme product they claimed would be my gift on the website. this time, a different cashier had been helping me and she was just as shocked as i was. then, the woman who had given me the refills earlier comes out and asks what's wrong. when the cashier tells her i want to return the product, she snaps and says "nope, you can't return it. all is final." i claimed i had just been in this store 3 minutes ago and the item was still wrapped and clean. she sighs and rolls her eyes. i'm assuming she wasn't happy that i didn't like the gift i picked out?! i kept pushing and telling them the gift was completely useless. eventually they took the product from me and gave me half a sample. the employee who had first been my cashier and was snapping back was Kim on her name tag but her full name was printed as Kimberly on the receipt. please tell your employees to be more patient and kind. i left feeling extremely let down and disappointed in their customer service. not coming back here again. read more

I have only been to this Ulta a few times and my experience is always the same. They stand around and talk in little huddles and totally ignore the customers. When they do finally see you, they are snooty and treat you like shit. I am the customer and you are selling me beauty items. These women act as though they are above anyone who walks in, we are the ones with the money, not you. I will never go back there. I was looking for jelly highlighter and i kept telling the middle aged woman who was leading all around the store that the brand was Farsali, she pretended not to hear because she didn't know Farsali from Baskin Robbins and told me that if I knew the brand name, she would be able to help me. I always forget this location is here but really enjoy making it the official after-party stop when I'm in the area to visit the World Market just a few storefronts over. I get excited going in and then it largely goes downhill with not being able to find the product I'm looking for or the line wraps around the store to the point where I just end up putting my items back because it's not worth spending 20 minutes in line to pay $18 for moisturizer I could get at Target $5 cheaper because this Ulta accepts coupons on basically nothing besides Ulta brand products. And about the Ulta brand products here, specifically the front make-up display... It's always SO disheveled and disorderly that it takes the glamour out of shopping for make-up. More often than not, I'm looking at their branded products and a quarter of the stuff out for display has broken seals and/or was already used as a tester by someone before me. No thank you. My suggestion would be to move the make-up display further back from the line ( which is currently set up to wrap around the Ulta brand products). That way, when people are waiting on line for 20 minutes they don't use that time to test and wreck all the merch. read more

Ulta is not the ULTIMATE place. I've been going to Ulta stores when they used to be called Ulta 3. Lately, I either shop at this Kildeer/Deer Park store or the Vernon Hills store. Good Points : -It's a one stop shop for make up, toiletries, shampoo, hair accessories, perfume/cologne, etc. -Most of their staff are knowledgeable -They offer a reward program. So based on the money you've spent every quarter, you receive points which will allow you to purchase basic items. I usually get the Cotton Squares (which saves me about $4). Negative Points: -As a Rewards card member, you get coupons. The 20% Off ENTIRE coupon is what anyone would like to get ... BUT ... It does not include the major Make up companies or when an item is on Sale. "Are you K-I-D-D-I-N-G me???!???!???! Once I went in to get a large Shampoo & Conditioner by Redken. I went up to the cashier with my 20% Off ENTIRE coupon. But the cashier warned me that the 20% Off ENTIRE coupon would not apply on the shampoo/conditioner because they were a few dollars off. Also, I could not use it on a major make up product. I know that was not the case before. I did not want to vent at the cashier because she does not make the rules. But the top executives of ULTA need to change their coupon policy. Because of this FALSE advertising scheme by ULTA, I will have to start shopping at SEPHORA. read more

I do enjoy Ulta, but have avoided the store closer to my house due to some poor service I received. The service at this location was not that great either. No one except my cashier greeted me to see how I was doing. Nor did anyone ask if I needed any help. Also, only one cashier was working and a line of people formed quickly. Thankfully another cashier stepped in to help out. Overall, just meh. Would I come back? I came into the salon at Ulta, after a different establishment made a complete disaster of my hair, and I honestly didn't think it could be fixed. Ulta got me an appointment the same day. I felt super comfortable with the stylist I was working with. She looked at my hair, and was able to tell me what they had most likely done wrong, and then explained in detail how she would fix it. She also, confirmed that I understood what her plan of action was and if I had any questions, after she was done explaining. The stylist was beyond kind and accommodating. She felt so bad for me that she even added 2 additional services that she felt would help even more in having the color hold to my hair, at no charge. Let me be clear, the intial salon I went to WAS NOT an Ulta Salon! I left, very happy with the outcome and confident that I had received services by an experienced, knowledgeable stylist. This location does have a hard time keeping their shelves stocked and neat. It is rather busy, but perhaps some better ordering would help? Since I don't really know anything about makeup, I rely on the lovely ladies and gents here to teach me their way and convince me to buy more products than I ever knew existed. They are usually very warm. friendly, and knowledgeable about their products. The only other thing I've noticed about this store is many times when I try to use my Ulta card, their system is down and can't find/process it. read more

I have never gone to Ulta because whenever I hear an eyebrow waxing is $20+ I honestly avoid it. Today I decided to make a different choice and do something different. I went back to the salon because I actually didn't see the benefit brow bar. Bridget said the woman there was probably busy anyway and took me into the back and was happy to get it done for me. She was super calm, and easy to talk to. Usually when you tell people, "eh, I'll come back" you never do. But when I say that I'm coming back, I'm definitely coming back for even a facial. Not only did this woman give me an eyebrow waxing but she suggested some great products for me and helped me learn more about my skin. Ulta is my favorite beauty store - no matter the location. However, I want to send a mild warning about this particular location... Over 5 times now have the women either rang up items twice and/or forgotten to bag my items (just the other day, she rang up my eyeliner but must have left it sitting on the counter. So I paid for it but it never made it to my bag). It's a pain going back when this happens. Also, out of all of the other Ultas in the area that I stop at, this one tends to not have their shelves as stocked as I'd like. They usually are out of something I need. But otherwise, the women there are fairly friendly and helpful if you need something! read more

As a person with over 17 years in the beauty/retail industry, and working as celebrity makeup artist, I was suprised to see how poor the customer service is at this location. I came in last night having to buy a few products and wasnt acknowledged as I came in, as well as ignored by the representative working for the brand I was buying from. She stared at me a few seconds and didnt greet me until I greeted her first. When I asked her a question it seemed as if I was bothering her. Two other employees were sitting chatting and no one addressed me other than the woman who was supposed to be doing my hair. I am very disappointed in this location, I was there two weeks ago to get a haircut they ruined my hair. I called back couple of days later they made me an appointment for 1:30 and did not see me till about 3:00. The next day I noticed my hair still was not right, (one side shorter then the other) so I called back and asked to speak with a manager ( Corrine) left messages for her and never got a call back.Then I spoke to the GM of the store( Nicole) and she suggested that I should come in so that they can teach me how to style my hair. This review is for the Salon. I'm writing this review for my daughter who recently got her hair done there. She had dark hair and wanted to slowly get blonder and needed a trim. Not only did the hair dresser fry her hair completely, she "trimmed" her bangs so short they might as well all be cut off! It looked horrible! Her hair is so damaged I had to take her to a real professional who decided it was just best to cut her hair short so it wouldn't look as damaged. She's was a level 3 and the hair dresser got her to almost a level 7 in ONE SESSION. So poorly done and did NOT listen to any of our requests. Save your time and money, and most importantly HAIR, and go somewhere else. read more
