The checkout experience was the worse. Naomi insisted I absolutely had to provide my phone number; otherwise there was no way I could do an exchange if needed. Fortunately what I purchased was nothing that I would ever need to return. But it was interesting that she insisted I take my receipt. Now I know why...the receipt clearly states I can make a return with my original receipt (and without my number). Maybe her goal is to collect phone numbers? I have no idea. My review is from a eyelash application appointment, the girl who help me was nice polite the complaint is that she didn't applied my eyelashes correctly as soon as I got up from the chair my eye was hurting I walk to the nearest mirror and (cluster eyelashes) we're literally hanging , I went back and ask to get them fixed a different girl removed the few left and glued them back again , I noticed second girl washed her hands also used an eyelash curler. I was happy and left I get home and my second eye the eyelashes were flying out :/ for my event the only eyelashes I had were the ones that the second girl fixed. Very disappointed since I paid over $55 dollars including the one time eyelashes, I paid because I have no idea on how to apply them :/ and it came out worse I wasted my money and looked like a clown with one eye full of glue no eyelashes. This is the WORST Ulta I have ever been to! Today I walked in with my two daughters, 7year old and 11 month old (in a stroller) to do an exchange. Immediately when I walked in I noticed there were absolutely no employees in sight to greet. The music even sounded like it was off. It was so quiet I was questioning if they were even actually open. Even my 7 year old told me how quiet it was. I made my way through the right side of Pro skin because I was looking for a my go to face wash by Indie Lee. I was having a real hard time looking for the product but again I just took my time looking through the whole store because A. I am not very familiar with this location and B. I honestly haven't stepped into an Ulta since I last worked at one in California. So I was really just taking my time and really viewing all the new brands they have brought in. When I made my way to mass makeup an employee that was wearing a maxi gray dress and gray cardigan who I can clearly see had just finished helping two ladies did not even acknowledge me. Instead she saw me coming her way and literally turned right back around. That was very rude. I brushed it off and was like well it's fine I just want to browse anyway. I work my way back down to Prestige and then go back to Pro skin because I still could not find the face wash I needed to pick up and decided I was going to settle for an alternative. I'm looking at an end cap with the travel size minis all of a sudden an employee with black and green hair decides to ask if I'm doing ok. After being on the store for almost 30-40mins. I say im fine because I was literally contemplating between products, comparing brands, reviews, and ingredients on my phone but honestly the reception is so bad in there it may have looked like I was just stalling. I could tell this girl was keeping an eye on me, well what do you know, because I have a stroller. Yep a stroller. A stroller to carry my growing 11 month old so that I can comfortably shop and move and look around without having her in my arms. I've worked retail for 15 years and know exactly how that game works. Strollers are a main target. I would understand if I was acting suspicious or grabbing things off every shelf but I literally had my hand on my phone and a product on the other trying to make what felt like a big life decision because I am so particular on my skin care. Anyway, I eventually find the one product I had came in for hiding on a small part of the back wall and go to check out. As I'm walking back to the very quiet front of the store to leave, I noticed two employees on the left side standing real close together whispering. One had red hair and the other was the girl with the black and green hair. Both were just staring me down not even acknowledging me or attempted to give a "thank you for coming in"or "have a nice day". Until I said, " you might think I'm stealing because I have a stroller but I'm not." As I'm walking out the front doors. The lady with red hair replies, "oh I heard it squeaking so I was wondering what's that" I go on to say, "well I used to work at an Ulta so I know how that goes" and she replied "yeah well I used to work at a beauty store too so yeah!" She giggled and said "have a nice day!" That interaction in itself was the wildest thing to me. The girl in the red hair and black with green hair made me feel so degraded by their death stare as if I had done anything wrong. The only wrong thing I did was choosing to go to this location. I only did because it's literally 10 mins away from my home. But I won't be making that mistake again. I was an MSC for Ulta for 5 years. This store needs some serious work. Including cleaning up employees and their lack of customer service. If they're so worried about shoplifters why not zone beauty advisors at the front of the store to actually greet guest as they come in or go out? I just don't understand this lay out and how the cash wrap is literally at the back of the store. Just because I had a stroller doesn't make me a shoplifter. It's so easy to target and assume everyone that walks in is going to steal. If an employee had been there from the start to actually greet me then I would have asked for help and the reason for my visit maybe would have been made more clear. This Ulta I regularly go to and normally it's an okay experience not too exciting but today I went in for some concealer and looking for a new lip product. I was browsing and this girl with short short black hair I think it was colored kept staring at me the entire time and looking at me up and down. It made me feel unwelcome and cut my time short at the store. I really wanted to try some new products but she made me feel so uncomfortable. I didn't even have a bag or purse on me, what did she think? I was gonna shove stuff in my tight leggings and tight shirt I was wearing where it would be totally visible and obvious. My husband and I went in on Friday night, it was just about to be 8:30pm when we walked in. First thing we noticed was the music was off already, and no one was in sight except customers we saw walking around. I did need help when we first got there but I just looked for what I knew I needed first. Then I went to look for an employee to help me, there was one at the register and one helping another guest so we waited till one was available, one girl was walking by and asked if we needed help, I said yes I was looking to get color matched and she said ok it will be a little bit and I said ok no worries. So we went to look at other stuff in the meantime and she comes back to tell us that the manager said no to the color match because it would affect the closing duties.. this was at 845 when she told us, so we were like oh okay.. and so we got in like to check out and there was another lady coming to the front and asking for help but no one was around except the girl at the register and she said she'd be with her in a moment but she was already busy and one else was in sight to help her. If you close at 9, Your closing duties should not start before when there are still multiple customers in store. As we were walking out we finally see the manager walking out from the back just minutes before close. If you want to be out quick after close, I think making sure your customers aren't walking around waiting/looking for help so they can get their stuff and go. read more

I haven't been to ulta in a while and Since they recently reopened the location on northern I decided to visit but boy was I disappointed. I used to love the store before it closed and this time around was so shocking, the displays were empty, messy, and disgustingly dirty. No one was around to help me either. Everything I wanted to buy wasn't in stock, but mostly everything wasn't, & I just couldn't get over the gross makeup displays: I don't know why they still allow testers, they were all really empty & gross, I didn't want to touch anything in the store. I decided to leave and go to the location on bell where I had a much better experience. This location needs to get itself together, although this ulta is 5mins away from me id rather go to the location 15-20 minutes away. read more

I've visited this location multiple times in the past few months & 80% of the time there seems too always be drama among the staff. - several workers always being catty - have hears multiple employees speaking ill on others I get there will always be drama but in front of customers or loudly behind the register when there's a few people in line. You can definitely tell there are some higher ups involved as well. Now the sales/credit card portion .. I had the cc for several years but had to close it. I had forgot it literally was closed just a week prior to this visit. But my transaction took 3x as long because of how many times I was questioned if I want to open a cc. I was making a decent size purchase too stock of on my favs & I was using point. She's ringing things up & brings up the cc, I say no thank you I have one. Tells me I don't then I remember why, I say I forgot it was just closed. She asks again about opening one I tell her no thank you it was closed for a reason. She goes on about the benefits (info wasn't accurate btw) then asks again if I was sure. I said No AGAIN. I tell her I am paying with points & once again brings up the cc saying if I don't open one my points expire. This was the 30th so per her words they would be gone tomorrow. I told her no thank it's fine. My transaction was at the payment method already I was just waiting for her to pull out the notebook & do the conversion part. But she was stalling over a freaking cc. She kept saying I better go get more things it expires tonight & I'm like its fine. (My rewards tier points don't expire) Well what do you know the sup/manager was next to her & he jumped in saying the same thing my points expire I should get the card. Clearly I was uncomfortable & I wanted to cancel my purchase but I needed a few things. I said no I don't want the cc & can I just pay already. I am in a rush & I hears you the other 5x already. She finally was like oh & didn't the conversions but of course shes like I would really consider the cc. Plus the information she was telling me about points & the CC were not accurate. I understand people are new but for the manager to not even correct & just go along with it for what? Hit a quota. YIKES. Only reason they are even getting stars is because the remodel is nice & there's this one really sweet worker. I was nervous to go to this location because I've recently had a negative experience at the one on Mcdowell, but I'm very glad I did! Ulta is the only store that carries the fragrance I like, so I wanted to give it another try. To my surprise, the ladies here were very kind and helpful. I wish I got their names because honestly I rarely to never have ulta employees be kind to me the way these two were. This review is for the salon & even more specifically for Alyssa. Starting with the salon, I called for a same day appointment at 2pm!! & luckily they happened to have Alyssa available. If they hadn't I wouldn't have held that against them due to my late timing but it was a plus for sure. Now on to Alyssa. She was perfect. I went in for a color & trim. She listened to what I was looking to achieve with my hair, asked clarifying questions and offered some suggestions. She took her time. I felt at ease. She was positive and encouraging and I could really see how passionate she was about her work. I couldn't have been paired with anyone more perfect than her! She will continue to have my business and I will tell everyone about her! I hope the salon realizes what an asset she is to their company! Why is it that I forget that Ulta has a salon? I always pop into the Ulta at Northern and 91st Ave to pick up whatever Izzie is offering up for the week. The under eye make-up brushes Izzie recommended for concealer were a hit - so much so that my daughter took mine and I had to head back up to see Izzie and get more - little did I know that the perfect shade of eggplant came in an affordable large eye liner - thanks, Izzie! But today I headed to the Salon for an appt with Lizzie. My stylist of 14 years had retired and I needed to find someone new and Lizzie did not disappoint! It's always a bit awkward the first time meeting with a stylist and trying to explain exactly what you are hoping to leave with. Lizzie took the time to not only listen to my needs, she matched the previous highlights perfectly while covering up the dark landing strip that had become the part in my hair all while lifting the grey that has somehow creeped in faster than I had realized. I LOVE the 2 Tarte products that Lizzie recommended while we were waiting for my hair to process. The new shape tape formula is all that she promised! I can say - with certainty, that Lizzie will be stuck with me sitting in her chair until she retires!! Our household is so very grateful that this store reopened last Thanksgiving so that we no longer have to drive to Arrowhead - we could walk here if needed. Where do I begin. Let's start with the first impression- looks like two year olds ran amuck- unsupervised- scooping anything within reach. The assistance (or lack thereof) I was hoping to get some advice - any other Ulta I've been in, I've been warmly greeted and offered assistance. I was not acknowledged until I took my item to the check out counter. It was steady with younger ladies, but it's Monday afternoon- not crazy busy. I was hoping for some guidance, but there was none to be given. I wondered around looking for my current product, finally found it. Snooped around a bit more to see if I needed anything to accompany it. Thought about an application brush, but it looked used, and there was no one to ask. One young lady was in my vicinity, not with customers. Maybe cleaning up the damaged samples. Who knows. She made it clear she was not there to assist me. I decided all I was going to get from this store was exactly what I picked up. I took my one item to the register I asked if it came with any perks this time. I would have to spend $6 on this particular brand in order to receive any perks. Nothing in this name brand was $6. I'd have to spend a bit more. You know what- WATCH PRETTY WOMAN! I was in the mood to treat myself, but the cashier made it clear I didn't deserve to. I'll drive over to the Ulta at Arrowhead, even though I'm within walking distance of this Ulta. I wanted to try a new brand so I asked the first employee that I saw(that was doing nothing but stocking the shelves) & she acted totally annoyed I asked her for help. She rattled off a couple brands I might like & walked away. I love makeup & I spend a lot of money on beauty products but because the employee was so unhelpful I decided to wait & get my stuff somewhere else. Here's a thought...If you want people to spend money when they come into your store make it a pleasant, welcoming experience. I don't wear very much makeup but I always come to Ulta for the few products that I use. They always have great prices and daily sales/steals. I was able to buy a few products on a BOGO deal, helping me save even more money! This store is very clean and organized but a lot of their products are used and opened. The samples are always empty or very dirty; no one touches them so they start opening the other products to use.. Some of the products were broken or out of stock. Besides that, I had no troubles looking for what I needed. The associates answer all of my questions, they are around to make suggestions and help out. They're all done up (which makes sense for a make up store) but they're ugly with their nasty attitudes. It seems like they are just miserable and therefore do not have to engage customers. This store is the worst Ulta I've been in. The employees, if you can find one, could not be less interested in helping you. The tester products are never cleaned off and caked over with product. There is no merchandise behind the testers (and no employee to look for back stock-see above) should you actually find something you wanted to purchase. I was at this location a little over a month ago to do a return/exchange. It was passed the 60 days so I could only receive a store credit, which was totally fine by me; there is always something there I need! I needed to return/exchange a Bare Minerals primer. The cashier (who had a manager title on her name tag) looked up my account and questioned why I was returning this product after 60 days, and she was "concerned because it's about empty". I explained to her that I had purchased the product in February but did not open it up and use it right away as it took me about another month and a half to finish the primer I had been currently using. She continued to question my integrity, ASSUMED that since I purchased in February then I most certainly must have been using it since February, and accused me of attempting to return product that had been all used. I was completely embarrassed as there were two people in line behind me and this employee was belittling me in front of them. I let her know when I purchased this bottle of primer, it was really only filled about half way, as most products are (think about when you buy a bag of chips and it all settles to about half way up the bag) so I had asked her if she could grab a new one off the shelf and compare the two and see that I really hadn't used a lot. She said no she would not do that. The sweet lady behind me chimed in and said she gets annoyed when product isn't filled all the way to the top too since we spend so much money on them. The employee then said she would grab a new one to check but that she was sure that wasn't the case. Again, belittling my intelligence and integrity. When she returned to the register and opened the new bottle to see that it was only half full, she very nonchalantly said "ok well I hope you know I can only give you store credit for this". No apology, not even any eye contact. Just scanned the gift card, said "there you go" and looked to the next person in line. Horrible customer service. On a previous visit, I was in exploring liquid foundation. I use loose mineral powder, but was interested in something that could offer more coverage during times I needed/wanted it and wouldn't irritate my sensitive skin. The employee working the prestige section asked if I wanted to try anything. I explained to her that I didn't want to try any makeup on today because My face was already done for the day and I was going to a dinner later and didn't want to experiment with makeup that day, that I was just in to get some insight and see what my options were. I use the Bare Minerals powder, so I was looking at the Bare Minerals Foundation. She grabbed a makeup sponge anyway, picked a random foundation nowhere near my correct shade, grabbed my hand without permission and started slathering this foundation all over the back of my hand. I was furious. I specifically said I did not want to put any makeup on and she grabbed me and did it anyway. I pulled my hand away, explained to her again that I asked not to have makeup put on me because I preferred to check the ingredients first. Instead of listening to my concerns, listening to what I was looking for, offering professional input and recommendations, She got annoyed and told me I HAVE to try it on my skin or it was pointless even shopping. Look, I worked for a Bath and Body company for 14 years. I know all the tricks, tactics and strategies to get product on a customer's skin. GRABBING a customer without permission after being told they don't want anything on their skin is not one of them. read more

The 1 star is because I know they give samples out all of the time to their friends. Yet, every single time I've come, I spend over $50, but have never been offered a sample. This last visit, I spent $200, while my sister spent $80. No sample. I could easily buy these same products at Sephora (free samples), Macy's (free samples), or Dillards (free samples) and get an AMAZING "Gift with purchase", but I chose to come to Ulta because it's closer to home. Customer service was horrible, she was disrespectful and I was on the phone with my friend who went to go pick up order. She was giving him attitude and refusing to provide assistance. I have always gone to Ulta salon to get my hair cut. I will never go there again! I had made an appointment to get my hair cut a couple of weeks ago. I went into the place and said why I was there. The lady at the receptionist desks tells me " the hairstylist could not make it and could we change my appointment for either a later time or date." I said, " well I would really like to get it done today." I had other plans the following days, so the only other day I could do it would be Monday. I then said "there is no way you can fit me in now." She flat out said "no" when I walked in she was just standing there lookng on the computer, not really doing anything. Needless to say I was livid. I had never been trerated that way at a place of business. I walked of and put my hand in the air to wave her off and said "ok, cancel it!" I know other people heard me because their heads turned. I did how ever go to Super Cutts in the same shopping center and got my hair cut by their manager who was wonderful and met every ounce of my needs plus, I saved ten dollars.
