Reviewing Ashley in the skincare/spa section specifically: I was very impressed with her setup back there as well as her knowledge. I live between NYC and LA, and her tools (exfoliation, microdermabrasion, steamer, etc.) are exactly what the best aestheticians use in other cities. I've been on the road for several months and my face just felt icky. Ashley gave me a nice, thorough, exfoliating facial for $55 (not including tip). She's only 22, but went to school specifically for skincare and clearly spends lots of time learning about dermatology and the latest skin treatments. I'll absolutely come see her again when I'm back in Florence. I have no idea why this Ulta is "$$$$." If that we're the case, the facial would have been $250 or more. I consider Ulta to be "$$" max. Rude employees that only want to help certain types of people. While others just ignore customers.

They just can't get it together. Can't accept cash at a register with out a manager, yet they want money. If you are in a hurry, forget it. Even when a manager comes to the front to solve a problem, they don't help with waiting customers. read more

The incident yesterday was the FINAL straw with this store and Ulta in general. I will NEVER shop at Ulta and I am closing my credit card account with them. Yesterday I went to purchase 2 Nubian Heritage lotions. When I got there the NH section was completely wiped out and everything was on clearance. There were only a few items left and luckily the 2 items I needed were there. I got one Indian Hemp lotion and hand lotion and one Abyssinian Chia seed lotion that was a full bottle but a tester. I had two coupons one was a 20% off and the other a $3.00 coupon I planned on using. When I got to the register the lady tried ringing up the Abyssinian lotion first but it was not ringing up. Apparently they marked on the bar code with black ink and she said it must be a tester and it's not in our inventory anymore so you can't have it. I said could you ask your manager and she did and the manager said no. So I asked to speak with the manager and the manager told me the same thing that it was no longer in their inventory and I could not have it. Mind you this was a FULL bottle of lotion and I said so what are y'all going to do with it just throw it away and she said yes. I thought that is stupid and a waste of product. I am offering to pay for the product but she still said no. So I bought the other two items and left. I called customer service to complain and even the rep agreed with me that he didn't see an issue of them letting me have it. He said they could have just scanned the other product and charged me that way since they were both $5.99. I said I wanted my complaint sent to the DM and GM. I get a call today from the DM and pretty much she said the same thing that it's no longer in our inventory and per Ulta policy they can't sell it. She also apologized and I said so then what was the point of this call because you haven't said anything to help me and she said well you had a bad experience and that's why. I told her I would no longer shop at her store and I was closing my Ulta account. She did not try and persuade me or stop me. She even told me how to do it lol. Usually managers at least TRY and keep customers by offering them maybe a gift card, coupons, or something. This lady did nothing and I wasn't even looking for a hand out. Just wanted to buy that product that I can't find anywhere else in this small ganky town. Even if they couldn't sell it to me the manager could have given the authority to just give me the product since they were going to throw it and the other full bottle testers away. I will say at least their social media reps on FAILbook tried to help me. This is not the first incident with this location. The first time there was a buy one get one free sale on the Nubian Heritage products that was of equal or lesser value of the same brand. When I picked my free item the cashier argued with me that it wasn't for that and only the free items they had at the register. She refused to let me have my free NH product and gave me some product I don't use they had at the register. Lol I could read the signs in the NH section and she was wrong. In the end it turns out she was wrong, I was right, and the manager called me back to explain the situation and that the cashier wasn't informed, and let me know I could come and get my product. Either way I will NEVER shop at this Ulta or any other Ulta location EVER and I am still closing my account with them. I will stick to the organic mom and pop stores that sell Nubian Heritage and Shea Moisture products. Unfortunately the nearest one is Huntsville but I'd rather travel that distance then deal with the horrid customer service I always receive at the this location, their uppity and snobby attitudes, and the staff nor management not willing to help customers. read more

I really wish I could give this store 0 stars. Yes they have the brands I am looking for, but their service is horrible. The store was completely packed and 5 employees were leaning on a make-up counter chatting about cell phones. For some reason its always slow and under-stocked at this location! I'm writing this review on January 23 and they are still cleaning up from Christmas (??) so most shelves are not stocked with product and the testers are ...*shivers* don't apply anything from the testers to your skin. I saw a tester primer oil bottle with foundation poured in and mixed up by some awful customer (i assume), tester eye shadow palettes that look like they were dug into with tools, and opened/used products everywhere. Weirdly enough, I went specifically for a new bottle of L'Oreal Lumi potion and was disappointed to see 1 bottle on the shelf had been tampered with (visible residue all over the cap). Hilariously enough, I saw the same exact thing when I tried to buy a new Lumi at this location three weeks prior so either nothing on that shelf had been restocked or cleaned up in 3 weeks and it was the SAME BOTTLE or there is no supervision of customers and products are regularly tampered with. read more

The salon is not for basic wrap of African American permed hair. I had a stylist that had shampooed my hair and wrapped it before putting me under the dryer. She proceeded to use a flat iron without pulling anything on my hair to protect it from the heat. Then she put more moose and gel with neck strip and back under the dryer. I then just asked to have my hair shampooed so I could leave. The stylist said " I wish I had a pressing comb. ". I was shocked and told her you would never use a pressing comb on relaxed hair. The ultimate insult was the bill for $40 for wrap and curl. I said no way I paid $23 for the pitiful shampoo and left. I tipped the stylist because she told me she had no experience with African American hair since she was in cosmetology school.
