This Ulta location is pretty large and offers so much products from very many brands. I can always find what I need here. The staff is friendly, willing to provide their thoughts and assist with helping you choosing the right products for yourself. They unfortunately lock up a lot of the perfumes including the testers. We bought a lot fo stuff and was able use our coupons well, the ladies were very helpful! I docked a star because i felt a bit uncomfortable with the Loss prevention officer almost always hovering where we were. Like at all times, like dude we are paying customers. This is a pretty good location. Upon entering, I was immediately greeted by a greeter. Since I was in the area, I visited this location for a specific purpose. Once inside, I looked around for the targeted item but could not locate it. For this reason, I requested the greeter's assistance. I told her what I was looking for and she immediately escorted me to the display. Though I was unable to find the exact item, I purchased something else since I was already there. The wait was not too long before reaching a cashier. The cashier was friendly and even attempted to help me find the item on the company's website. The item was sold out everywhere. There is not much else to say about the visit, the location was clean and pretty much like all other Ulta locations. I don't shop at Ulta often but I will definitely return. read more

This review is strictly for the Salon, not the actual store. I made a reservation for Signature Haircut which also included deep conditioning. I opted for this this time because I had a coupon for $20 off a $50 or more service. The Signature Haircut is within that range. I headed over to Ulta around my appointment time and she started working on my hair and asking how many inches I wanted off, the usual. Got to the washing part and she used shampoo and conditioner. I thought she didn't deep condition my hair, (what my appointment was for) but I have never gotten it before, so I wasn't completely sure. Onto the cut - pleasant experience. The usual, typical haircut. She even blew dry my hair and it looked very smooth and nice. I went to pay for the service and she said it was a regular haircut, not Signature. Wait, what? I thought I booked a Signature Haircut appointment. I wanted to use my coupon! But since she didn't actually deep condition my hair, she couldn't technically charge me for it. Fine. I went to the cashier to pay. Since I'm a Platinum rewards member, I got $25 off any salon service. I showed them the code, and it didn't work. They had ME calling HQ to figure out the code. I believe I was there for 20-30 minutes figuring out the $25 coupon code. (i originally didn't even get the code in my email as usual, I had to contact Ulta prior to receive the code) After a couple of days, I got home and washed my hair with my own shampoo and conditioner (I use Redken). I air dry my hair 95% of the time. The cut seems choppy. All the pieces didn't lay properly as it should. I thought I would need to grow my hair out a little more for the cut to blend thru properly. About 2 months later, the cut is still choppy and not professional at all. My friend recently went to Ulta as well and she had the same choppy haircut. For $45-50 a pop for a haircut, I want a professional salon haircut, not something I'd get at Hair Cuttery. I've been going to Ulta for years, but I'm sad I have to find a new salon because of this poorly done job. read more

This was my first time in an Ulta and it was a positive, the store was super bright, the aisles are wide and comfortable to shop in and there is so MUCH STUFF!! I could probably spend hours here. I just needed some nail tools and acetone. I was happy to find it buy one get one 50% off so the acetone turned out to be like $4 a large bottle. Can't complain. I also go the cuticle pusher I was looking for so that was good. I had to ask the staff for help finding it and she was SOOO helpful and so was the cashier when I checked out. Ulta makes me feel like a kid in a candy store. They both bring me joy and the selections are abundant. Two reasons why I like Ulta is that they are a one-stop shop to get all your beauty needs and they have discount & designer products. They have everything you could want: makeup, haircare (shampoo, conditioner, styling products), hot tools (blow dryer, curling iron, hair straightener), and facial products (lotion, face wash). They also have services available such as a hair salon. Ulta has a rewards program in which after you accumulate a certain number of points you can redeem them for a discount towards a purchase. As a rewards member, you are notified of sales and promotions. I am made aware of coupons via mailed circulars and emails. Another perk of Ulta is that within 60 days if you try a product and don't like it, you can return it with a receipt. That definitely makes Ulta a more favorable place to shop over other beauty stores. I met with beauty consultant, Alejandra, to get her recommendations on a primer, concealer, eyeliner, and makeup brush. She was patient in answering my questions and gave me a few tutorials on how to apply a few of the products. I've worked near this Ulta for several years on and off and it's my go-to for immediate makeup needs. I don't wear a lot of makeup, and I'm pretty basic about what I do wear, but Ulta also offers hair and nail products which I do use a lot and invest in. Every time I've been in, the store associates are so helpful! They may not always notice I've come into the store, but if I'm meandering around, or even marching around the store with purpose, someone asks me if I need help. And when I do, they guide me around and show me whatever I need, sometimes multiple options. I like how they're all very knowledgeable about the products in the store - there's a ton of stuff in there, so I'm impressed they're able to store all that info and pull it up on command. The store itself is bright, airy, and clean! The front of the store is occupied by registers to one side, and makeup the first few aisles. The further one gets in the store, you find nail care products, then hair products. The far back of the store houses the salon, which I've not used and likely won't. At any rate, this place is great and I'm glad it's so convenient, especially in an emergency! read more

I came here for a facial today. I have a lot going in life ... family member with cancer and a lot of family members lost last year. I've been busy but wanted to come into relax . This was a waste of time. The products are good that's why I gave two stars. I've had many facials at the White Marsh Ulta in the past and also at other places. This wasn't close. It was obvious the facialist was merely trying to run down the clock and did the bare minimum . She was rough when turning my head to look at my skin. She didn't explain what products she was using. She seemed more focused on trying to clean up her area as I heard her washing things in the sink. She didn't bother turning the lights, didn't ask if I was warm or cold. She just slathered stuff on and put on towels. I could say more but for the sake brevity I will stop here. I believe I did reviews before about Abigail in White Marsh she was awesome. I've also had them at Timonium and it was much better. Everyone in this store was RUDE except for 1 woman at the cashier. The manager was so unprofessional and disgusting in demeanor - I was charged $60 twice and she insisted it didn't go through the first time even though my card accepted and it said "transaction approved". Maybe her fake eye lash strips were so long she couldn't see but I did not appreciate her attitude. Who would make someone like that the manager of their store???? Now I'm jumping through hoops to get MY $60 back and they may end up sending me a check in the mail with my refund. Are you kidding me? I will never shop at an Ulta again. So I'm new to this ULTA thang. I generally just go to the big ol department store and do severe damage when it comes to my make up and what not. However, my coworker had to educate me about how you can get just about whatever you need here; plus, they have sales AND coupons on top of their sales. The store is separated between the drug store or lower priced items and the higher priced items. Everything is pretty easy to find and there is always someone available to address your concerns. There is nothing in this world that drives me crazier than terrible customer service. As a 25 female I've just started diving into the world of "high end" makeup (aka not target or Walmart makeup). It would be nice to walk into a makeup store and be assisted with my lack of knowledge. Before coming to the store I had an idea of what I needed: a contouring brush and a eyelid primer. I did my research and looked on Ultas website before going since it is a little overwhelming going into a store with so many options. I was looking forward to getting help and advice. I walk into this ulta location and the store is a bomb. Everything is everywhere. No sales associate greets me nor does anyone ask if I needed any help. Finally after walking around the store aimlessly for the products I was trying to find I walk up to 3 sales floor associates who are chatting and ask for some help. They do not offer any advice and point me to a corner of the store where I could find what I'm looking for. No one showed me they just POINTED. I came back and said I couldn't find it and the sales girl takes me to pretty much the most expensive brush in the store $40. When I asked again where the ulta brand brushes were she wrinkled her nose and said they would only last a few days after use and she wouldn't recommend. I felt judged with my lack of knowledge and frankly taken advantage of. No i did not buy the $40 brush she suggested. Which leaves me with the question of why this girl was even working at ulta if she didn't want to help others in their makeup journey. I didn't buy anything. I had a hair challenge that would intimidate many stylists. I have lovely silver roots that I wanted to keep as I embrace my grey, but I wanted fun colors to cover the remaining blonde growth that was leftover hair color from a year ago. I also didn't want to use any harsh bleaches on my hair, if at all possible. I wanted to add some fun colors in purple, but nothing too vivid or flat. Taylor, a stylist at Ulta, rose to the occasion! She was very thorough in asking about my needs, if the color in my hair was done at a salon or at-home via a box. I had not colored my hair in over a year. Evidently, different treatment options are used depending on what is already in your hair (who knew??) We talked at length about what I was looking for, brainstormed ideas, and she listened to my ideas to help give me exactly what I wanted. And I couldn't be more thrilled at the results. Taylor is an amazing artist with color! She hand-worked in 4 different colors for a dimensional, multi-tone color experience. Before coloring, she used treatment in my hair to ensure it will remain healthy and undamaged. The entire process took a while, but with what I was asking for I didn't expect it to be done quickly. Taylor stayed late just to ensure that my style was done to my liking, and did not make me feel rushed, even as the registers were closing down for the night. I loved the level of attention, service, and care she gave me and I am going to recommend her to many! read more

Came with a friend to use our 20% off your entire purchase coupon. As we entered the store, we were greeted by a security guard. I guess it's because it's that time of the year. My friend hit the store running and quickly snapped up her items. I went on the leisurely path and strolled up and down the aisles of endless makeup, perfume, hair tools and other items that would entice any true blue girly girl. They have a promo going on that if you spend $40 or more on perfume, you get a free fleece robe (the coupon does not apply to perfume items). The store is well laid out with perfume and high end makeup lines to the right, including an eyebrow bat and bargain makeup and skin care items to the left. In the back they have hair accessories and a hair salon. Ulta has a rewards program where you rack up points according to the amount of money you spend that you can redeem for items in the store. They also send you a coupon to redeem a full size item during your birthday month (last year it was a Calvin Klein mascara; this year a full size Moxie lip gloss) in additon to sales and promos at the salon and eyebrow bar. My friend jumped in line to purchase her items and when l went to get in line with my bogo 50% lip gloss, the line went back into the makeup aisle. I have until 12/24 to use my coupon, so l gingerly put back my two items and strolled out knowing that l would be back to redeem it for sure. read more

Lol I was at this location just looking at Mario Badescu products which is what I typically use for face moisturizer and a few other things and an employee comes up to me and asks if she can help me with anything. I said, "no thanks, I'm good!" She proceeds to give me a look and tell me "you should really read the ingredients when it comes to Mario Badescu... they just... have a lot of chemicals. So just fair warning. That stuff has a lot of toxins." And then she walked away. The experience I have here is pretty solid. The people working here greet you, but they don't hover, and they never swoop on you like they just know you're here to steal. OMG, what a relief. And if you need help, they're actually helpful. I KNOW, SHOCKER. Does this mean you will always walk out with a perfect foundation match? Nope (When does this ever happen anyway?). But I've never left feeling like a criminal or like the help I received was half-assed. Lately I've been picking up liters of conditioner here. This place is good for sales. Ulta has more high-end brands than they used to. I still wish they carried more brands. But for now a mish-mosh of Ulta, other stores, and online shopping will have to do. If you are a person of color and need sunscreen for your face that doesn't make you look ashy, try La Roche Anthelios, 60. I've never tried the mineral kind, but this sunscreen is amazing. It was recommended to me by someone working at an Ulta. The cashiers are cordial and keep any eye out for discounts, promotions, and special gifts you may benefit from. I just recently tried to get a refund for merchandise I had purchased. I was informed that only a store credit would be issued because my return was beyond 60 days. I read the return policy on the back of the receipt before I went to the store and it states returns are easy with a receipt, which I had. The manager referred me to the store credit policy where it states beyond 60 you will receive store credit. i pointed out to her that this info should be under the refund policy, not a separate topic. Why would I read about store credit if I'm doing a return? She actually agreed with me that the info should be under Refunds. My return was 2 days beyond. HOWEVER, she would not issue the refund. I would like to find out who the owner is to actually deal with someone of authority who has common sense! read more

Originally the order was for curbside. After much refreshing and restarting, the Ulta system could not complete the check in, so my daughter went inside for the order she placed with her card and email address. A short while later, she asked me to come in because they would not give her the order without and ID. I am pregnant and due next month, so this was quite the inconvenience. If the system worked, someone would have brought it out to us and I doubt they would have asked for ID, and if they had, we would both be right there already. Even so, there should be another method for checking identification, such as comparing cards used to make the purchase, email confirmation numbers, etc. In addition to all of this, the associate who "helped" us only mumbled a word to me, and I have no idea what she said. I only knew what needed to be done because my daughter briefed me. Additionally, I wore my mask in store and the woman who checked my ID did not ask to see my face. So again, what is the point? Especially if you aren't going to REALLY check things. And what did she have to compare it to? I didn't make the order, my young teenage daughter did with her own account. The woman lacked customer service skills and perhaps social skills too. I thought Ulta would be held to a higher standard. Lastly, my daughters box was open even though the bag was closed. I got my hair cut again here. Tiara (it might have been Ciara, the call connection wasn't very good so I could barely hear the person who made me the appt) was nice enough to clock in early since I had arrived early and put off getting her own hair done to start on my hair. She took the time to talk to me and understand exactly what I wanted which I appreciated. She knew I didn't want to get too much cut off so she did the cut incrementally and double checked with me before she cut more off. Considering how long it took (I have thick long hair) I was shocked at how cheap it was. I definitely got my money's worth and still recommend coming here for hair cuts. read more

Being in the military I have very little time for the makeup and Ulta's tend to be a little overwhelming for me. I came into the store because I had a masquerade ball to attend and needed a lot of help. In one hour I had a sweet cat eye that was blinged with crystals, false eye lashes, and complete make up. They have everything I could possibly want and many things I don't know I want until I get there. :) Unfortunately they don't exist where I live (maybe one day - now we at least have Sally's), so I have to keep a list until I can make the pilgrimage. This review is for this specific Ulta store/location. I've had 2 experiences here and they have been terrible. The first time I came, it was an hour before closing on a week night. I get that no one else was in the store when I entered but the employee at the door gave a half-accommodating "hello" as she was in mid-conversation with another employee. I was looking for a product and didn't see it on the shelf so I had to search for an employee and asked if there was more of the product anywhere in the shelves/back and the employee tells me "no, the product is there" as if I'm blind and an idiot when I had JUST been where the product is and the employee didn't even come over with me until I replied back and said "I just looked, it's not there". Another time, I had called to see if a specific product was in the store, they claimed they did and held one for me. I arrived at the front desk and they product they had on hold for me was the sample. It's your job to check the product. You couldn't see that it says "SAMPLE" up top? Employees don't seem to know anything really and aren't helpful at all and that seems to be the general agreement across the board based on the other reviews, unlike the Ulta in Rockville where employees are SUPER helpful and seem to have a lot of knowledge about the products. Unless it's an emergency, I'd probably go to Sephora at the mall or the Ulta in Rockville. read more
