If you're Ukrainian or know/love the culture you will enjoy this shop! It doesn't have a huge selection, because most of it's sales are now online on their website. But the staff there was fun just to have conversations with!
Growing up with my maternal side being full Ukrainian; so I grew up eating typical Ukrainian food, doing certain activities/celebrating holidays a certain way. With Ukrainian not being a huge or well known culture it was fun to interact with the staff and talk about difference restaurants and delis we grew up eating/going to. I enjoyed being able to talk about different part of the Minneapolis community that only Ukrainians would know and appreciate. The staff speaks Ukrainian which is always fun to listen to, (I grew up knowing a few words here and there but have forgotten them over the years.). The staff knows a lot about their culture, their products and were just fun listening to people talk about something they are so passionate about.
If you're Ukrainian, I'd highly recommend you go! If you enjoy learning about new cultures or Eastern Europe as a whole you'd enjoy it. They have a wide selections of gifts, Pysanky eggs, Pysanky materials, craft kits, dyes, books and just a fun (basic) website that's fun to look at and appreciate the culture. I have bought a few gifts from here for family and plan to return/purchase online. I purchased a Kramarczuk's family classic cook book which my mom LOVED and only recently found out it was autographed! (You know the 'correct' way to say it if you're Ukrainian and not Polish... lol).
Overall, WONDERFUL store with high quality staff that run it. read more
