Lazy Santa Claus? Yup, one stop Christmas shopping From quite crude to prude Stopped in here after having dinner at George & The Dragon next-door. For some reason, I always thought it was just a store for women. While they do have a large selection of purses and jewelry, it offers way more. I had no idea walking in that I would check four people off of my Christmas shopping list. It is somewhat like an Urban Outfitters, but with much less emphasis on clothing. Lots of gag gifts and other items that will make you chuckle. Heavy on the dick and fart jokes. Saw a somewhat thick book entitled something like "What Every Man Thinks About When He Isn't Thinking About Sex". Thought to myself, hmmmm that looks interesting. Picked it up, started flipping through the pages and,,,,,,,,,blank page, blank page, blank page. You get the idea. While I was tempted to go with some of the gag gifts, I played it safe. Got some whiskey glasses and stones, a metered wine glass (little bit of a gag), a book of short biographies, a bath and body set and a book on grilling. I could have knocked out everyone on my list except I have been given very specific instructions for some that Patina could not fulfill.

This is a great store for decorating your house. There is a lot of Minnesota specific nik-naks. Also this is great place for out of towners that would like to take home something from Minnesota.

There's a lot of fun gift ideas, but I will say the main items are geared towards children or women. I did find a shampoo bar I've been wanting, but was also browsing their cook books and candles. I found a new shop to consider when buying gifts for my two sisters. ‍ The staff were welcoming and nice and they talked up some of their chocolates at the checkout area. My friend purchased me a small chocolate that we enjoyed in the theater - they were right! Very good.

I snagged a seasonal ornament at 50% off and browsed for about an hour (could've easily stayed longer, but the rest of the day was calling). Such a cute boutique with tons of goodies! I absolutely loved ALL the jewelry. It's about a 30-minute drive from where I live, but it's definitely worth the trip, and hey, maybe I'll catch a movie too. The real icing on the cake was Julie. She was so pleasant and engaging and truly made me feel welcome. Great customer service is rare these days, and she nailed it-thank you, Julie! If you're in the area or looking for a fun little field trip, this place is a must. Everything is beautifully arranged: jewelry, candles, stationary & clothing, purses, and toys for kiddos. I'd say prices are normal for a boutique and the quality of everything is great. Plus, lots of unique finds. Side note- I was so zoned here that I completely forget to take photos.

Moved to California 30+ years ago and every time I'm in town I gotta take a peek and do that whole nostalgia trip in my head-if only the walls could talk, OH MY! I love the creaking floors as you walk across the showroom remembering those sounds heard in the basement packing my own orders to ensure in stock items were shipped. The cast of characters that visited and cool musicians- one day Devo came popping through handing out 3-D buttons with those flower pot looking things on their heads and strange jumpsuits. "It's not too late To whip it Into shape Shape it up Get straight Go forward Move ahead" my daughter wore my old jacket from 1979 (in picture) . The nice staff were very friendly and enamored with the jacket and the manager took some pictures which gave my daughter a huge tickle. Midtown Global Market has been such a staple in my life. It does such a good job of having food options from so many cultures and parts of the world. The food is reasonably priced and the workers are all so kind and knowledgable. Beyond just food, there is a huge selection of art, groceries, clothing, and more. MGM has always felt like the ideal of what Minneapolis is and can be. I am sad to see a lot of booths closed right now. My heart aches for my neighbors and community. I hope (and know) that MGM can bounce back and continue to be a place of diverse community. Love MGM always.

Angie appreciated my feedback and she told me the backstory to the name of the store! The name "Moona Moono" is a rough translation of two Korean words meaning "culture octopus," representing the various "tentacles" or facets of the Asian American experience. How COOL is that?
