If you've always been curious about martial arts and wanting to learn how to self-defend, please…read moreconsider taking their 1 hour free class offered on Saturday mornings at 10:00 a.m. Our family had a great experience in being introduced to self defense methods of Ken Po as one example of martial arts. Our Niece is going off to college and it has motivated her (just from this one class) to explore further martial arts classes while she's in school. I'm so grateful for the experience we had and I can't speak highly enough of the instructor. Michael is definitely in his element and you will learn so much in that 1 hour that you'll only want to learn more about how to self defend when you leave. It's worth it! Check it out!

Great martial arts and DDP!…read more This school is phenomenal. If you are serious about self defense or just want to broaden your martial arts horizons with Wing Chun, Kali, Kickboxing, Jujitsu and Judo, then you have to check this out. The instructor has 20 plus years of martial arts training, he's a black belt in multiple styles of martial arts, and he's a great guy. Say goodbye to the ego, and the "I'm always right" mentality found in other martial arts schools. Here you will find an instructor who really cares about helping you learn and grow as a martial artist and as a person. If you have questions he's got answers, and the thought process and research behind those answers is incredibly well researched and thought out and then tested over and over. Michael doesn't just want to know if it works, he wants to discover if it works best. He wants the best for his students, and he has poured years of research and training into developing his system that helps you stay safe. I have always struggled with physical coordination, but Michael takes my strengths and helps me maximize those. He also helps me adapt grow in the areas where I struggle. I have seen incredible progress in the time I've been studying with him. He is kind and courteous to every person who comes in to train with him and his students, and he genuinely wants the best for you. The training is effective and you see results so quickly. Many martial arts styles save all the really good and effective techniques till the end of your training. Not Michael, he starts you with a great foundation of incredibly effective techniques, and then helps you refine and grow from that foundation. This allows you to develop a skill set quickly and effectively, and you will love the results you see. The quality of instruction for the price you pay is a phenomenal value. Michael gives you a generous schedule in which to train, and you will be hard pressed to find a better value for the classes he offers. Even if you have physical limitations, even if you aren't in great shape, and if you are wondering if martial arts is right for you then you owe it to yourself to give this a try. The school now offers DDP Yoga, and it's a phenomenal way to stay in shape and lose weight. It's a fusion of yoga, physical therapy, and dynamic resistance that is not hard on the joints and the body. Any person at any fitness level can do this and make great strides in their health journey! Don't take my word for it, go try a free class. You won't be sorry you did!

I was looking for a really nice martial arts facility in the broader Indianapolis area and after…read moresome extensive search I finally found it. Having trained with Antoni Hardonk at Dynamix MMA in Los Angeles and a world kickboxing champion back in Russia I had a solid kickboxing foundation but couldn't find a gym in Indy that would be equally satisfying and being as much joy. I researched a lot of martial arts and was always interested in Krav Maga and Sambo as the most practical and applicable in real life and it was great to find a certified Krav Maga venue nearby. After a free class I needn't have convinced myself anymore - I got the right vibe of the place and signed up the same week. Krav Maga Worldwide Indy is like a big family and I only met nice people here. Everybody is helpful and a great partner to practice all sorts of techniques. Jeff, Kevin, Mike, Junior are all different but equally amazing coaches who care about their students and are very knowledgeable. Long story short - I highly doubt there's a better self defense gym in Indy with highly qualified coaches and a great bunch of people to train with. It is worth every penny to come here and learn so one day KM could save yours or someone else's life.

I've trained with a variety of the instructors here and I can honestly say I love them all- they will have different training techniques so it's great to get different perspectives. There are classes almost daily so it can fit almost any schedule. I'm proud to be part of the Krav family! Anyone who is skeptical should give it a try- you can get a free first class. Everyone is so welcoming and they work with any fitness level. It's so worth it!

My child's school has closed due to Covid-19. I called to put my child's account on hold for 1…read moremonth to see how this plays out and not subject him unnecessarily to the close body contact this virus spreads by. I was repeatedly told "you're on contract" "If your child gets sick we will take a note from the doctor" so our children have to get Covid-19 before they will take it serious. I am not so sure that I want to send my son to a place that does not have his health and safety as a top priority. I asked what happens when we die then who's paying this contract? I also asked to speak with the owner of the company, at first told there was no way I could. Then was told to call back tomorrow. Adults are one thing OUR CHILDREN are different. We are to do our best to protect them and this should be a place that is on the same page! The schools close but this place knows more than the whole district? They should be respectful of the sensitivity of this situation and have a plan! They should want all the kids to return without getting sick not wait and see.

Exercise extreme caution before signing anything. Like any business that sells you a workout plan,…read moreyou are just as accountable for attending the classes as they are holding up their end of the deal. However, I experienced a breakdown on their end immediately. The private lesson that I was given as my first free lesson was very encouraging. I was excited about losing that extra 20 pounds and was preyed upon by these sales people. Immediately following this lesson I was put in a sales office with the owner. He told me FOR THE FIRST TIME that this lesson wasn't really free. Keep in mind that I was already done with the lesson at this point. The deal was that if I didn't sign up for their high pressure legally contracted lesson plan that I NOW HAD YO PAY OVER $100 FOR MY "FREE" LESSON! I was uncomfortable with their sales approach of essentially tricking people in to signing up or paying for that lesson... but they got me... I signed on the dotted line. In this meeting I was promised over $500 worth of equipment included as part of what I signed up for... I received a T-shirt... which they asked me to pay for at first and then was told that I needed to spend literally hundreds of more dollars on essential equipment that came from them. I was ignored and taken away from the group when I mentioned that "I signed up for the package where my equipment was included." The instructor tried to separate me and give me a pair of gloves to "shut me up." The reason I wrote this review is because of one thing. I was paying them over $150 per month to work out there. I told them that I did not feel I was given what was promised and the classes are NOTHING like your "free" private lesson on the first day. I had paid on time in full for 4 months and sent them an email. I asked about terminating my contract because I didn't feel they were holding up their end and requested to sit down with them. Immediately I was met with a legal letter telling me that I was lazy and wanted out because I'm of low moral character. The letter went on to say that they were threatening legal action. I was blown away, I asked for a meeting to discuss something and had never missed a payment and that's what I got. This business clearly wasn't for me and I should have never signed up for something I was this uncomfortable with, but I was motivated by trying to improve my body. All I will say is please don't sign anything until you have went to a few of the regular scheduled classes and have 100% of the information about what they will expect you to purchase from them once you are a member. Don't let your feelings about your body cloud your judgment about this business. I would recommend declining the "free" lesson and paying for a few GROUP sessions before ever signing anything. I was trapped by a contract to workout somewhere that I was uncomfortable with taught by people who I was very uncomfortable with.

Indianapolis Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu - Prof. Greg Eldred - 2nd degree Black Belt

Indianapolis Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

UPDATED Review--…read more After a year away from Indianapolis Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, I decided to give the revised format for initiating new students a try. And I have to say it made a huge difference in my experience. Last year I tried Indy BJJ and wound up with a bruised rib and feeling pretty lousy for a couple weeks while that healed. Prof. Eldred reached out to me earlier this year to let me know that they'd changed how they introduce new students to the system and invited me back when I was ready. In the interim, I trained heavily at Title Boxing in Glendale. Getting into much better shape there was probably a good start for this. The new system for initiating first-time students helps a lot, too. And this system brought back the missing stars from my previous review. The new system starts first with private instruction with Prof Eldred before joining a group class. That way when you get tossed into the group class, you're not totally at a loss as to what's being discussed. It doesn't mean the first class won't be confusing, it just means that you won't be going in totally blind. It really helped me to have more confidence. Grappling is one of my least favorite things. If, God forbid, I were ever in a real fight, I'd much prefer to rely on my boxing background. That said, BJJ is a proven defense system employed everywhere from police to military to combat sports. And it's a great work out that tests some very different muscles from boxing. So I feel like it's worth trying to learn. But it's intimidating as all get out! Those private primer classes directly from Prof. Eldred really took the sting off in jumping into group classes. If you're looking for a BJJ school that focuses on self-defense and has a rock-solid lineage back to the Gracies, this would be the right fit for you. I'll probably never be a good grappler, or even really enjoy it. But I've got some faith that under this school's tutelage, I'll at least be sufficient enough to have an idea of what I'm doing if I were ever in a grappling situation.

Stopped in after my friend John has been receiving instruction for almost a year. I love that it's…read morevery focused on instruction and not theatrics or easy belt promotions. I signed up and I've been to three classes and while my technique isn't perfect I've learned almost a dozen movements and have a basic understanding of the transitions. Whether you've done martial arts or haven't this is the perfect dojo and instructor to get started or start again. If the junior instructors are any indication of the teaching then you'll see why I signed up for three months in advance. Hope to see you in class soon.
