I used to come here solely to eat their Pasta Gamba which was weirdly delicious. Ever since they…read moreremoved this dish from their menu I have tried so many different things on their menu and was not happy with the options. I most recently had the bruschetta which was incredibly dry and unpleasant with very mushy tomato mix on top. The restaurant is supposed to have Spanish food but I would say the options in that category are very slim. Also last summer they had an "American" menu featuring Hot Dogs, which is an extremely strange choice - and not good. You can however never go wrong with their ice cream and drink specials. I still come here from time to time as the atmosphere is pleasant, but have recently been very disappointed by the food.

I heard about this place when I was living abroad in Munster for a short time. I haven't been there…read morefor any other meal other than their Sunday brunch. It's a great experience, especially because its an all you can each brunch for one set price. They have a guy who can make you an omelette, a variety of breads to choose from. Sometimes it's different from week to week, but generally there are some classic German break foods. The lox is pretty good and the fruit was fresh. Parking wise, I'm not sure what is available because everyone travels by bike. It's the center city so there is a lot of bike parking available. It can get pretty loud on a Sunday but it's never so crowded that you feel cramped. I recommend going, if not for the food then at least for the brunch experience especially if you are a tourist or someone studying abroad. Nothing else is open on a Sunday, might as well. I recommend going early.

This restaurant shares the same courtyard as the other Kiepenkerl restaurant, so one could be…read moreforgiven for assuming they would be similar, but they're quite distinct. Their menus are quite different, featuring different local fare. Grosser has a page dedicated to a raw fish delicacy which we did not try. Grosser also prides itself on its vegan options. It sources its meat and vegetables from long-standing farming relationships. It even makes the point that it washes and irons its own napkins instead of outsourcing to a laundry in order to be more environmentally friendly. Kleiner noticeably uses a lot more soft furnishings: tablecloths, napkins, curtains, etc. Both meals were really good but Grosser's meal tonight is closer to my own tastes with more fresh vegetables in the minestrone soup and lots of mushrooms in the pasta and meatloaf (jagerhackbraten). The house beer is the bierbowle. The second beer was an herb beer featuring strawberries! For dessert, we had the damencreme in contrast with the herrencream from Kleiner. The damencreme's custard was flavored with aniseed. Instead of rum, it had amaretto and instead of dark chocolate, it has white chocolate.

Hands down- best asparagus I've ever had. And believe me, living in an area famous for it for over…read more25 years, I've eaten kilos of it! The outdoor courtyard is busy, but the waiters are attentive and the chairs are comfy. The asparagus was cooked perfectly- tender but still firm. The flavor is what captured my attention. Clearly it was cooked in salt and a bit of sugar, but something else brings an incredible depth. Schnitzel was just the right thickness. I know that the correct way to serve is pounded almost newspaper thin with waves of breading exposing the interior. This isn't that. Instead you have a tender piece of meat with great flavor and golden brown. The potatoes were plentiful, similar in size, snd tossed in butter. The hollandaise was unctuous and just the right amount for this generous portion. Finally, the rose was chilled perfectly and a generous pour. The decaffeinated coffee was accompanied by a tiny pitcher of milk and a cookie. Delicious end to an incredible meal. Must go!

Our eyes have been opened to the glory of German sausages. Our son tells us that the name of this…read moreplace means "stool maker". According to the menu notes, the family got into the F&B business 4 generations ago. They cheekily say that the town hall is next to them as opposed to the restaurant being next to the town hall. After tasting their sausages, we are inclined to agree! Seating was a surprise. No reservations and you do not wait to be seated. The waiter told us to grab a table as soon as the previous occupants leave. The white sausages were served in a consommé. The brown sausages were served with sauerkraut. There were two types of mustard. Our son and I much preferred the dark brown one with our white sausages. We ordered a bottle of Riesling as well as water. Finally, I need to talk about their pretzels. These are the best pretzels we've ever had. They were soft and fragrant. The salt on them isn't hard, but crumbles easily when pressed. Can't believe I had been eating supermarket bakery pretzels since we arrived in Munster for the past several days. The pretzels are such a draw that the four ladies at the table next to us simply ordered a beer and a pretzel each.

The food, the views, the great weather (when there's great weather), and the excellent wurst. Lots to choose from on the menu, seems like the kind of place anyone can find something to enjoy. And by the time you're a few beers in ... you'll enjoy everything even more! Likewise can't complain about the service - our server was quick to point us to a table, get us a bottle of water, and came back a few times to see if we were ready to order (quite a lot of menu to review so it took us a while). What more can you ask for? Great lunch or dinner spot in the heart of town.
