UFC GYM is permanently closed as of September 28th, 2025. This gym started as LA Boxing before the chain was bought by UFC Gym. The gym was appreciated, as it was friendly to most ages and skill levels. And lots of different quality trainers taught there. The removal of the boxing ring may have started the downward spiral. Can't speak highly enough of this gym. I moved to San Bruno last November from the city and needed to find a new Muay Thai gym. I took up a free boxing class as an intro and met all the coaches and staff, and I instantly felt at home. I've been coming here 4-5 days a week since then, and it's been awesome. This gym has a great group of guys running it and some of the best prices you'll ever find in this area. Great variety of skills and experience in every class, too. I have been coming to this gym for over eight years! The support and level of training that you get with all the coaches is really good! Chuck signed me up after 30 day. Trial and Anthony has been my primary trainer. It is true that schedule in person training can be a challenge, simply because the demand is very high. FAKE AND THIEVES I decided to text Anthony regarding the personal trainer prices. Anthony convinced me to return back and the price was around $150 for the three days. And Anthony charged me right the next day. He said that one of the coaches will be in touch with me so I waited for a week. I called to the gym numerals times and the employees always put me an hold for over 30 minutes. Until I texted Anthony again justifying the coaches. I have been coming here on and off since 2010. What a game changer. I was in the BEST shape of my life when I was religiously attending their classes. I would even go 2x a DAY at time. I was that addicted. I joined when it was LA Boxing And then it was acquired by UFC. Nonetheless, the instructors have all been very knowledgeable and helpful. I met a lot of cool people who also attended the classes. Some that I am still friends with to this day. Anthony and Chuck the GMs have been nothing short of amazing. I've been going to this UFC gym for about a year or so now, and it has been great. The gym offers different group training classes such as kickboxing, boxing, jiu-jitsu, and muay thai. They also have weights and treadmills. I was intimidated at first coming in as a newbie 5'3, 160lbs out of shape guy, but Anthony and the rest of the staff made me feel comfortable. People come to this gym to get a good workout in and to learn/practice their own craft: they don't judge. The staff and gym goers are friendly and welcoming. The gym offers a community filled with positive and encouraging people. The coaches are knowledgeable, experienced, and helpful. I'm glad I signed up for this gym as it became a therapeutic outlet for me, especially during the pandemic. The first group class I attended here was a boxing class with Oscar. Oscar noticed I was new and he took the extra time to show me the basics. The other group classes I took also had helpful coaches who had their own unique style of coaching. I joined this gym mainly to get in shape but I also learned self-defense. I made new friends here too and appreciate the sense of community. People spar here as well and learn from each other. There are usually promotions for personal training and I took advantage of that in the past. I recommend Oscar for boxing. I have been working with him once a week for a long while now and yet I still learn new things and continue to be challenged. He spends a lot of time teaching the fundamentals like proper stance, footwork, and positioning. He teaches different punching combinations, counters, proper form, setting up your feet, etc. Oscar continuously assesses what areas you're specifically weak at, and he helps you improve them by using different drills and by practicing your skills in sparring. Overall, you always end up getting a great workout, learning something new, and enjoying the process! read more

People are always asking me why is it that I drive all the way to UFC San Bruno with so many other gyms around me, and let me tell you there is more than one reason.                     First one is Anthony, the head coach, who is always making sure the gym is as safe as possible. Since reopening after COVID, he always makes sure to check everyones temperature as soon as they come in and is constantly walking around the gym to make sure everything is clean and disinfected. Another main reason why UFC is worth the long drive is Chuck, the manager. He is extremely nice, friendly and is always making everyone feel welcome.   As for the rest of the coaches they're all very experienced, especially Tony. He is one of the best coaches I've ever had, he is always checking everyone and makes sure to correct any bad postures to prevent us from injuring ourselves. His way of teaching is innovating; everyday he implements new training techniques and motivates everyone in his class to give out our very best. These are some of the main reasons why I don't mind driving a farther distance everyday, because at UFC San Bruno I actually feel like a member and not just like one more customer! Found a great value deal on Groupon, which gave about 6 boxing classes for a good price. Oscar was a great teacher. He taught good form and different punch combinations. Boxing is a great way to work up a sweat as it's high intensity and functional fitness, not to mention great stress relief. In the first class, Oscar even pulled me aside to teach me the boxing stance and how to properly throw punches. Each classes started with jump rope and then went on with learning jab, cross, hook, and uppercut combos with dodges tossed in, while practicing with a partner. There is a mix of beginners and the more seasoned taking classes. More experienced boxers take the classes too and I learned a lot from my partners as well. As classes went on, I learned more combinations and even got to learn how to spar during a class. It was a blast-- definitely had a fun time learning something new here. There are also weights and cardio equipment inside, so this could easily become someone's primary gym. They also teach jiujitsu and kickboxing and have a boxing ring. Side note: There are very trustworthy people here. My phone somehow fell out of my bag in there. Losing your phone is one of the worst things that could happen. Luckily, I went in to check the next morning and some kind soul had turned it in to the front desk. Thank you basedgod! read more

Hello everyone, Christy here!! This rating is completely long overdue. I've been coming to this gym for about the past three years now, and is by far, my favorite gym. It's seriously like a small family. Everyone knows everyone and everyone are friendly - staff, coaches, and gym members alike. The coaches are there because they desire to be there, are passionate about what they do, and are not forced. My top favorite coaches are Oscar (boxing), Josh (boxing), and Ed (kickboxing). They are patient, kind, motivational, and keep the work out fun and engaging - plus they play really fun music which encourages you to keep pushing through the hour long class!! Yay! On another note, kindly please do be mindful that though this place may not have the state of the art gym equipment and restroom amenities which other gyms have; staff and the gym-mates make up for it with how welcoming they are. It's not intimidating! Trust me. So it doesn't matter whether or not you have any boxing experience - just come on over and have a fun work out session!! I'm usually there almost everyday during the weekday so don't be shy and feel free to introduce yourself to me and we could hit mitts together! read more

My friend and I bought the groupon to check this out - it was fun! We unfortunately only came two times (talk about laziness). If you buy the groupon: note that you only have ONE MONTH to complete the courses. We thought we had 3 months...so please read the fine print. All of the staff are very nice and helped us wrap our hands since we had no clue what to do. You can ask them for boxing gloves to borrow for each session. Second note: 2/2 times that we borrowed the gloves, they were really wet inside. For all of you experienced boxers, this is probably something that you are used to but for noobs like us, we did not expect that and a bit grossed out (feeling a little princess-y right now). But hey - we still used them! Just washed our hands a lot afterwards :) I wish I could remember the instructor's names. We had a good sweaty workout with both, and I liked them both. The first instructor was a great teacher - he helped us with our techniques. The second guy was clearly a good boxer - instructor, not so much. When we said we were unsure of the moves, he smiled and said something to the effect of "you just do it like this!" Ummm...easy for you! You know what you're doing! Maybe I should teach him piano and if he can't play, I'll respond with that same response :) All in all, really glad we got to experience the classes. Solid all around gym with a good mixture of every day folks who just want to get a sweat in, as well as actual competitive fighters who teach the classes. All the instructors here are solid. Oscar, Travis, Alfred, Brian, and Anthony have all done well to teach me new things, and take the time to make me feel welcome and at home. Cheapest rate around and lots of class options and open gym times. Lots of bags and equipment, clean, organized, and the weight selection is pretty solid for a general strength workout. Great place, YOu can tell The instructors have experience fighting. THey know you well right away, by the way they analyze you real well it shows they have skill. Some different workouts here , its pretty amazing. The instructor showed me some great new techniques. These people have a real close vibe which helps create great teamwork. I like how they get you in to sparring. I like a good challenge and I like a workout I can feel and they have that all right here. They have a cool lil gym area too with great cardio equipment. I'm in the bay area for a project. Coming from Mendez Boxing Gym and Church St. Boxing Gym in NYC where I usually workout, my standards are pretty high. However, the UFC gym in San Bruno is by far one of the best boxing gyms I've been . The place is clean (with new hitting bags), properly ventilated with tons of room to workout. They even provide towels and a cold drinking fountain. Located just 10 miles outside (15 min drive) of downtown SF and walking distance away from the San Bruno BART station. I worked in downtown SF and would use BART to come down and take the classes. They have classes during the week all day starting at 6am to 8pm. As far as the classes, they are all different and challenging. PLUS, the trainers don't yell at you in a negative way (like NYC), they are tough, but encouraging. My favorite trainer by far is Anthony. He teaches the morning boxing and kickboxing classes and also ultimate training classes. Anthony got to know my by name and prior to my first class with him, he also asked me if I had any injuries (I had knee surgery last year). From that point, he always watched out for me when I would not use my hips to ensure I would not put stress on my knees. His classes are intense, but if you're just a beginner he will spend time with you one on one to correct and properly teach you during the class. Anthony's boxing classes range from upper body to intense abs. He always, "most of you are here to get in shape, but if you had to use this on the street, it will work if done properly." I also liked LaRon's class. He's a hardcore heavyweight boxer they will help you with technique. I would highly recommend UFC San Bruno for anyone in the bay area. read more

Finally the gim that doesn't want to ripp you off. If you a paying 100+ for fancy gym with "certificated" staff that achieve nothing but six pack in sport world you need to rethink yous live choose. This gim have awesome schedule and martial arts trainers who are participating in real competitions. Also, the membership is incredible affordable especially when they have special events. Only cons I wanted to point are 1. Despite some teachers are great but some just ok. However there are definitely no bad trainers whose purpose is to give you minimal base in group classes and push you to buy personal sessions when they teach you "real stuff" 2. I've been going here on and off for a long time (when it was LA Boxing) and it is a great work out. I appreciate this gym a lot more after leaving and not being able to replicate the high intensity workout at other gyms. You will burn calories for 60 minutes and be in rockin' shape if you go consistently for a couple weeks. I moved to San Bruno so going to Millbrae to work out just wasn't gonna cut it anymore so here I am in a new gym and I'm pretty amped. So far the boxing classes I've taken are pretty legit and I never realize how much time has passed when sweat is dripping down my face. There's alternate sets between punches and workouts so for sure I'm getting my cardio in without being bored on the treadmill. Outdated equipment but a lot of punching bags. A lot of cardio circuit programs, Anthony is a great coach and others do know their stuff. I had a problem because I was charged for freezing my account when they promised it'd be free and some bigger dude with glasses was UNPROFESSIONAL. I joined this gym 2 months ago....and I promise you that you will see the results you want in just few weeks.......I'm 42 years old, work a lot, and have no time for cardio and being in shape....these guys at UFC gym San Bruno are really about business....Business of helping you get being a great shape and get better at self defense techniques. ......When I called this gym to get some info, I spoke to the assistant General Manager, Anthony, and he got my attention when he told me that they train different at this gym.....and damn he was right.......Because of my busy schedule, I'm only able to attend 2 classes per week and NONE OF THE CLASSES I TOOK IS SIMILAR TO THE PREVIOUSE....They do train you differen !!!!!!! No lies.........They are totally worth it. I lost few pounds, my abs look a lot better, I breath better, and I'm learning a lots of boxing/ kickboxing skills and proper techniques.......special shout outs to coach JOSH and couch ANTHONY for their efforts to help me be/get better.....amazing !!!!! I have been a member of many gyms but this one is my favorite by far. It really is a no non-sense gym. I started attending boxing classes in October 2018 and have been more regular with my attendance since January 2019. My physique is the best it's ever been. The classes are challenging (especially in the beginning) but super fun. I was able to put on muscle without lifting a single weight! Coaches are also great, laid-back and very approachable. I have taken classes with Alexis, Oscar, Anthony, Ed and Josh - all of them are awesome! I always try to bring friends and family whenever they are visiting from out of town and we always have a good time working out there. read more

Had an absolutely terrible experience dealing with the new General Manager, Matt. Long story short, I had injured myself while training at the gym. On multiple occasions in the past while dealing with the previous manager, Gary, I attempted to cancel my membership because I simply was physically unable to participate. On these occasions, I was convinced to put a hold on my membership instead and to wait it out to see if my injury would improve. Jump to a few weeks ago when I noticed that my hold had stopped and I was charged a monthly due. I tried emailing the GM email address given to me and got no responses . Today, I called Matt, the new GM, to explain to him that I was still injured and that, despite very much enjoying my time there, I would just like to cancel and have this charge refunded. Matt refused to even consider a refund and didn't care that I had been charged for a month I didn't even use. When I also explained to him that I had been trying to reach them for a while using the email they had provided me, he promptly stated that they had updated the email address and thus not received anything. Most people forward old company addresses or notify customers about these things - just an idea Matt. Long story short, the customer service was terrible. I think more than anything else the lack of understanding and even interest in trying to find an amicable resolution really bothered me. When I tried to explain to Matt that this was resulting in a bad experience and that I was not likely to recommend this gym to anyone, he did not care and accused me of threatening him. Doesn't look like this gym is in very capable hands anymore. Too bad. read more

Gym is clean and equipment is up to date. The staff is super welcoming and helpful. My son signed up with a short term purpose of preparing for Army Basic Training. They knew we where not going to be long term members - because he was shipping out in four months. Other Gyms might not have been interested in someone only joining for a short time. But they embraced his goal and helped him achieve it. Coach Anthony was a huge help in getting my son ready to ship, even tailoring work outs to his needs.. My younger son enjoyed the classes with his older brother and this is defiantly a place anyone of any skill level can join and learn. A small misunderstanding around my sons cancellation when he left for the Army was quickly handled by management and I am very grateful that they where there for my son as he prepared to leave home. As a female who is used to working out at home, I was at first intimidated by the thought of joining a boxing gym that was male dominated. But I decided to walk in randomly to check it out and noticed there were plenty of men and women of all shapes and sizes taking the class. I've been going for several months now and have had nothing but positive experiences. The classes I've attended so far have been coached by Anthony, Kurtis and Alexis. You will definitely leave sweating, but you won't regret it. Even if you are a beginner, they still motivate you and will individually show you how to improve. I'm not aspiring to be like Ronda Rousey or Holly Holm, but attending these classes have only made me love boxing more. And this is coming from someone who likes pilates. I think they occasionally have groupon deals. Definitely worth trying. read more

this place has really gone downhill is a short amount of time. the water fountain is routinely broken (and the front desk still charges $1 for bottled water; the fountain is broken!), the thai pads and mitts are old, smell and ripped. the facility (ring, half cage, etc.,) rarely seems clean. the machines are old and out-dated; there's still only one stationary bike, one elliptical and two treadmills, and i'm pretty sure they're the original equipment from when the gym opened in 2008. the gym is too small now (it's the only UFC gym that i know of with only a half cage and not a full one), and there's an open store front right next door (get the hint!). also, there's been consistent changes in instructors, staff and managers. bottom line - you would think after several years, the owners would try to improve this place, but yes, it's gone downhill and seems like they're just in it to make money. get it together! read more

My niece and I purchased a groupon for 6 sessions because we weren't sure if we would like it or if it would be too intimidating for us. Our first class was with Anthony. He was very nice and didn't make us feel out of place at all. His class also moved at an easy to follow pace for us first-timers. I left feeling fine and didn't think I would be sore but as the day went on, I definitely started to feel it and by the next day, I was very sore and in mild pain. That's how I know I got a great workout! Our second class was with Mike A. His class was more intense than Anthony's but also a terrific workout! I would recommend going to Anthony's class if you're trying it out for the first time. He really takes the time to make sure you're doing everything right and not hurting yourself. I brought my sister to Mike's class for her first time and it was filled with more advanced people and she was lost the whole time since he did not provide any direction or instructions. It was not enjoyable for her. I don't blame her. Why would she want to pay to wave her arms and legs around like a fool when she can do that at home for free? I was paired with someone more advanced and she ended up teaching me the proper techniques, which I felt bad about because I'm sure that's not what she signed up or paid for. My opinion is that unless you're going to Anthony's class, your experience as a beginner is completely dependent on if the class is filled with more advanced attendees vs. more beginners. He's just more interactive. That's why I knocked off a star. It is pricey but I think they're comparable to other gyms. They let you borrow gloves if you don't have your own but your hands get really sweaty and it grosses me out to use gloves that have other people's old sweat in it. They have gloves you can buy but seem very pricey (~$90), especially for someone like me who's just taking these classes to get in better shape. Overall, we really enjoy the workout and signed up for another month. Yes, it's expensive and you can jump rope and do the workout yourself at home if you're really motivated but I'm just not and this is likely cheaper than paying for a coronary artery bypass later down the line. read more

this gym is great, love the atmosphere and trainers are all really good. They have everything down except their business practices. I tried to cancel over the phone but they said i had to come in to cancel, then covid hit, they closed, i got no emails about having to pay or about a late fee, no calls or anything, instead they sent me to the low lifes at the debt collection agency. pretty awful business practices if you ask me, whoever is operating and managing the gym is pretty shady BEWAREEEE!!!!!! Also they use SwiftFunds to collect the debt from you, look them up, their basically financial terrorists who hold your credit hostage until you pay them, DO NOT COME HERE UNLESS YOU WANT YOU'RE CREDIT RUINED. read more
