I wasn't planning on joining a boxing gym, but my brother and his son kept telling me to try Solis Boxing--and I'm really glad I listened. From day one, I felt welcomed. The gym has everything you need: plenty of space, top-quality bags, and a setup that works for all levels. Whether you're brand new or experienced, you can train comfortably and actually improve. Fernando is a hidden gem in South San Francisco. What he's doing for the community is powerful--you can tell he genuinely cares and is building something bigger than just a gym. Shoutout to the coaches--Erica, Danny, CT, and Leon. They're all supportive, knowledgeable, and push you to get better every session. What I like most is the environment. You see men, women, kids, and all skill levels training together, all with the same goal: to improve. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a real boxing gym with a strong community. read more

Solis Boxing - Fernando showing my nephew the sweet science! - Boxing Near Me - South San Francisco, California

I've been coming to Solis Boxing for the past 3 years with my son Max, and it has honestly been one of the best decisions we've made. From day one, the environment has been welcoming, motivating, and full of positive energy. All of the coaches -- Cesar, Danny, and Erica -- are amazing to work with and truly care about helping everyone improve, no matter their skill level. A special thank you to Fernando -- he is incredibly knowledgeable and has taught me so much about the fundamentals of boxing. You can tell he's passionate about what he does and genuinely wants to see people grow both inside and outside the gym. Since joining, I've gone from 185 lbs to 155 lbs, and beyond the physical transformation, I've also seen a huge boost in my son Max's confidence, which means a lot to me as a parent. This gym is more than just a place to train -- it's a community. We're very grateful to be a part of it. Thank you, Fernando and the whole Solis Boxing team! read more

Came in for a quick lunch workout and little did I know not only would I get a good workout but also educated on the art of boxing. Great teacher and clean well kept gym with all the equipment you need. read more

Coach Fernando is amazing ; he's knowledgeable, professional, and passionate about overall health (mental and physical). My younger son is a teen athlete who is doing an asymmetric sport. He likes to train all year round with someone who's seasoned and wise with regard to injury prevention, daily diet, and smart, efficient use of training time while bringing out the most of himself. Fernando's encouragement, experience, and kind nature can help anyone who is rehabbing, training, and/or trying a new hobby. This new location is quiet, safe, spacious, and comfortable ; plus, there's ample parking outside. read more

Review from a parent here. Coach Fernando is the real deal. He's not only an amazing trainer, but just a genuinely good person. Super down to earth, easy to talk to, and really cares about the kids and families he works with. My son trained with him and learned so much, not just boxing technique, but discipline, confidence, and how to push himself in a positive way. Even after moving to a new location at 298 Lawrence Ave (South City), the classes are still top notch. You can tell Fernando puts a lot of thought and effort into everything he does. He's also really responsive, always quick to answer questions, and makes you feel like your kid matters - not just another face in the gym. He builds a great vibe that feels like a real community. read more

I've been going to Fernando for about a year now for personal training. I've had several coaches in weightlifting, bodybuilding, yoga, and crossfit. I've also worked with several physical therapists over the years for injuries both acute and chronic (broken arm, neck pain). My goals have changed over the years. I'm in my 30s and work at a desk most of the day. My primary goal now is health and wellness. I want to be strong and mobile. No coach has contributed to my wellbeing as much as Fernando. I haven't felt this capable and pain-free in years. Many of the things he notices and addresses remind me of sessions with extremely talented physical therapists, and the workouts he develops challenge and engage me in ways workouts often haven't before. I could write a lot here but I'll cut it short there. If you want to hear more, or are a desk worker with a lot of chronic pain, reach out to Fernando. I would be more than happy to personally reiterate these things and more. You are not likely to find another like this dude. 100% well worth it. read more

Best boxing gym I've been to , I've been training off and on for about six years, and been a member at about four gyms all over the city and San Bruno throughout my journey. Solis boxing gym is by far the best one yet . Definitely old-school boxing aesthetics but with all the best new American made Grodex equipment. It's got a family feel to the gym small and intimate, and the trainers are well rounded, and very knowledgeable , informative. Definitely five stars !! read more

Great family friendly boxing and fitness gym. Good for kids of a ages and adults. Everyone is super nice and supportive. Fernando, the main coach is a very seasoned and knowledgeable instructor. Prices are very affordable compare to others. read more

Coach Fernando trained me for several years as a professional MMA fighter. He helped take my boxing to another level. He's knowledgeable not only in the sweet science but fitness as well. I highly recommend working with Fernando whether you just want to get in shape or learn to box; either for fun or for stepping into the ring/cage. Not only is Fernando an outstanding coach, he's an even better human being. The guy always had my back whether it was just practicing on days when nobody else wanted to or even flying across the country to corner me in one of my fights. I still use and teach many of the same valuable lessons I learned from Fernando to this day. read more

Fernando continues to amaze me with every training session! I used to box when I lived in DC and I've been missing it, but haven't found the right spot here in SF - until I tried Solis boxing. The workout was the perfect combination of strength, skills, and cardio. And Fernando was a great trainer/coach. It's clear I'm not the only one who feels that way - everyone there training before/after me seemed to have the same energy and enthusiasm. Look forward to continuing to get stronger and better as I continue to workout here! read more

fernando and all of the instructors are extremely talented. fernando's system really teaches you the fundamentals and mechanics of using your body. i usually train muay thai and i've trained at a lot of gyms and this is the best boxing training i've found. the classes are accessible if you're totally new to boxing or if you have some experience and want to improve. i've learned so much!! i also see the kids and teenagers training and it's clear that fernando and the other instructors really value teaching the next generation. read more

I did personal training with Fernando for about 3 months and still continue to go to Solis Boxing to train on my own. I'd like to say Fernando's boxing knowledge and philosophy is exactly what I wanted in boxing training. He's friendly, professional, and has a positive attitude. I've always respected the heart of a boxer and the honor in fighting. It's great to have a trainer with a similar mindset and perspective in boxing. About the gym itself - it's a positive environment. Every boxer is there to work on their craft and better themselves. No one there is trying to show off or be a jerk. Everyone is just there to box, and everyone has the boxer's respect for each other. If you have children, and they're interested in boxing, this is the place for them too. Fernando personally trains/leads the classes. read more

Such an amazing mentor and friend! He really is good at what he does. He is very passionate and doesn't see this as just a "job". He really cares about the students and trainees he teaches. My nephew started coming and just loves it. I hope to sign up for adult classes soon but for kids it's amazing. Highly recommend Fernando! Thank you for being there for our community. read more

I had an amazing experience with Solis Boxing! Fernando is a very knowledgeable coach and has something to offer no matter how much or how little experience you have (I had zero). He and the whole crew of coaches (shoutout to Daniel and Cesar!) are very welcoming, supportive and motivating. The workouts are a good mixture of cardio, mobility, conditioning and technique, they definitely helped me stay healthier with my WFH lifestyle. Highly recommended! read more

Solis boxing is the real deal. I've been training with Fernando for years and he is one solid dude. Knowledgeable in all things fitness and boxing, a great teacher, good business owner and just an overall good person. I especially love and admire what he is doing with the youth in our community. Kids come to Solis boxing not only to learn how to box, but as a place to commune and stay out of trouble. Best feeling is to walk into a gym full of kids doing what they love. Keep up the great work!! I'll always be a fan of Solis boxing!! read more

Trainer Solis is one of the best in the game! He taught me all the fundamentals in regards to weightlifting and training. Fernando is extremely patient and explains the "why" behind everything he has you do! In 6 months I decreased my body fat in 5% and became confident in weight lifting BC I developed these strong skills. He also taught me the fundamentals of boxing, which was something I'd never thought I'd acquire and love. I'm so grateful to trainer Solis for all he taught me and the great training I had with him! read more

Fernando Solis is experienced, professional, extremely knowledgeable. What makes him special is his approach and genuine interest in your overall development and achieving your goals. He's very focused on your specific needs. I thought I knew, but I really had no idea how important breathing was and how out of touch I was with this automatic function. Through exercises and drills I have experienced immediate results and, while we have quite a bit of work to do, I am enthusiastic about the progress and potential that lies ahead. It is not only improving my training, but it is also applicable outside of the gym. Truly life changing work! If you are not into boxing, but looking to improve your strength and conditioning, go see Fernando. And if you're interested but never tried boxing, go see Fernando. Looking for a boxing coach? I have learned so much from Fernando. He isn't a trainer that is on autopilot trying to get through a class. He genuinely wants to teach and for you to learn. He is able to explain techniques so the student can understand and execute. He has made learning boxing so much fun! It's the thing I look forward to doing every week! read more

I've been working with Fernando for about 1.5 years now and he really knows what he's doing. You'll get a a good workout at almost any gym, but Fernando will teach you real boxing technique. I'm not planning on prizefighting anytime soon, but it's cool that I'm learning the right way to box, down to how to breathe. When you've been in his class for awhile, you can feel the difference in how all the different movements come together and how you strike the bag. When I get lazy, he'll catch it and correct it. Definitely more than the typical training class! read more

I've been working out with Fernando for about 2 years and he's pushed me further than any trainer I've ever worked with. Working on boxing technique and endurance has been really amazing but the mental training he offers has been the most rewarding experience. Fernando challenges you to go beyond your physical limits and teaches the psychological game in the ring. I highly recommend stepping in the gym with him. You won't regret it. read more

Two years ago, I was looking for personal training and decided to try a session with Fernando. I've been going twice a week every week ever since. Fernando is great with people of all levels and really tailors the workout and exercises to your own style and goals. Awesome mix of strength training and boxing combined to be the best works outs I've ever done. It's been really helpful for not only boxing but other activities like golf and tennis. My only regret is not finding Fernando sooner. He's always energetic and really engaged in the session. Explains the exercises thoroughly and the logic behind the movements to understand his thinking behind each set. Couldn't recommend him more highly for anyone looking to achieve their fitness goals read more

Fernando Solis is an excellent trainer for boxing. He takes his time to train you, and he explains to you how to become a better boxer by teaching you the fundamentals of each move . What I enjoy the most is that you're not just in some class full of people trying learn a bunch of moves, you get that one on one training attention to help you understand and to get better as a boxer. Also every time you come to train you learn something new, and you can go home and practice the move at home so you'll be ready for round II when you come back. Also this boxing gym is clean, spacious, and there is a lot of equipment to use to train. The staff is friendly, and welcoming. You don't need to be at a certain level to come here, you just need the drive and motivation. read more

I have been boxing for many years and in and out of various gyms but didn't feel to at home at those gyms. I kinda gave up on boxing gyms for awhile before coming to Fernando. It was in 2017 that I gave solis boxing a chance, since coming into the gym I was greeted with a warm welcome from Fernando and other members of the gym. The atmosphere gives off a good welcoming home feeling. Fernando wasn't hesitant to give me advice on my technique or work mitts with me with out any question. I've been to many gyms where many don't ask or want to hold mitts for you if they don't know you. This was a nice change to what I've experienced in other gyms. Fernando Gave me that spark back to get back and do what I love. He let me enjoy boxing once again and build a family of team members. I highly recommend this gym for any beginners or advanced boxers. Fernando has a lot of knowledge and knows his craft very well. He's very good with kids and puts his heart and soul into his teachings. Don't be hesitant to try it out!! read more

Fernando Solis is a terrific boxing coach who really knows and loves the sport. He works well with all ages and experience levels.
