I joined this gym a few weeks ago and it was the best decision! I had been wanting to join a gym but was worried about the safety during COVID times. After touring a few other gyms, this was my choice for multiple reasons: it looks absolutely clean and everyone is always cleaning after they work out, the staff is SO friendly and helpful, there are options for a variety of classes (boxing, kickboxing, HIIT), it is not crowded at all (unless you go at 5/5:30, it gets a little busy), there is a no disrespect policy so everyone feels comfortable doing their own thing. At $69/ month ($79 for non-students) this is one of the best deals I found for all that is included (also an option to pay less to just use the gym without classes). The equipment is relatively new and good quality. An extra bonus: the music is usually great! read more

So first, I want to say that the staff and equipment are great. Everything is clean, and everyone is helpful and friendly. I'm writing a negative review because I don't agree with the way the contracts are handled. I came for the group fitness classes. After evaluating the classes, I was excited about the instructors (one in particular) who led the classes. I thought I could get a lot of benefit from it because I have learned over the years that an instructor who meshes well with my goals can make all the difference. My favorite instructor ended up leaving suddenly. The other instructors were good, but not a good enough fit to make me want to stay. It's unlikely that I would have signed up in the first place. Again, not bad people, not bad at what they do, just not a good fit for me. But by then I was stuck in a 6 month contract. Moreover, they have a $39 "enhancement" fee that hits 4 months in unexpectedly. I would have liked to be allowed a graceful exit from the contract due to the extenuating circumstances of my favorite instructor leaving. Instead, I've had to pay $177 for the two months plus the "enhancement" fee for a gym I don't even go to anymore. Yes, I could have continued working out and taking classes, but the value of the membership changed out from under me in a material way and this didn't seem to trouble anyone else. I was just told that the situation was "unfortunate" but that a contract is a contract. So I get it, there is a contract, but it feels predatory. When they change their service in a significant way and I have to keep paying, that feels bad. And now here I am writing a negative review instead of recommending the gym to everyone. I don't really understand why you'd want someone who is unhappy to keep paying. Maybe there are business reasons at the franchise level, I don't know. Again, everyone is friendly and I'll even admit that they have other instructors, and that other students weren't necessarily bothered by the change. But I was, and in the end the letter of the contract was more important to them. So that's my story. Good people, clean place, just be aware that they might switch things on you and leave you with the bill. read more

I'm not sure why I haven't reviewed this gym, because it's definitely worth mentioning! I've lived in several different (major metropolitan) cities, been a member at several (and I mean several) different gyms, and this gym is in my Top 2 faves. First, let's clear up any misconceptions...it's called UFC, and yes, there's an octagon in there, BUT it's not what you think. They've got 5 different fitness areas within the location: (1) cardio - elliptical, treadmill, tower and stair climber, (2) weights - dumb bells, benches and weight machines, (3) the octagon, which I have never stepped into, and don't ever plan on it, but if you do be sure to take off your shoes, (4) boxing bags - if you've never boxed for fitness (you and the bag), you are missing out! It's super fun and you will sweat bullets, and (5) functional training - prowlers, Bosu Balls resistance bands, etc. So you have plenty of options. Take note of the fact that while there is an octagon, there, there's no MMA fighting. Which leads me to the clientele. The people you see here aren't the typical meatheads that you're probably picturing. You know, the guy who has no neck, can't put his arms down because his lats are so big, he grunts obnoxiously during his workouts making everyone uncomfortable, and can't stop flexing in the mirror. The members come in all ages and shapes. You'll see a wide range of body types which just lends itself to the fact that this is an inclusive facility. There are people younger than me, and people MUCH older than me as well. So it's not intimidating at all. Also, I have to mention that it doesn't smell...like AT ALL! Most gyms, with the exception of Equinox (and even then...some locations do), end up smelling like a dirty gym bag that's been sitting in a steamy locker room and then left in the sun to marinate after a bit. They've been open for a year, and it literally looks like a brand new facility every single time I walk in. If you've never been inside, just walk in once...I promise you'll be amazed at how pristine everything is. And as far as the staff...every single person I've spoken to has been so helpful, nice and extremely welcoming. Take my word for it...go check out UFC Gym, I can almost guarantee you'll love it! (I say "almost" because I don't know if your preference for fitness facilities sucks or not.) #NotAFightingGym read more

UFC GYM Reno - Trainers Near Me - Reno, Nevada

I came to the gym for a Yelp event. Last time I had a gym membership was in 2006 in Las Vegas. Between my lack of dedication, exercise induced asthma and osteoarthritis, it has been a long time since I thought working out was a good idea. As with all events, we were introduced to the staff which were warm and welcoming as were the owners. The coaches, Kelly, Leslie and Shelace were also friendly and well trained. We learned of their credentials, which were not only impressive but it was nice to hear that they are actually trained in their specialty and not just someone who learned how to be a fitness coach via YouTube. One of the aspects that I found was impressive was that they emphasized to go at your own pace. My pace is very slow and my jog resembles speed walking. But I didn't feel pressured to keep up with the group and wasn't given an evil eye when I took a break or two. This gym also teaches self defense classes which I will probably be attending in the near future. While this gym has jujitsu classes, their emphasis is fitness. So if you are looking to fight in the octagon in the near future, this gym isn't for you. All in all this is definitely not your average gym. If you want to try it out, on their website they offer a free day pass that is worth trying. read more

This was my first time going to a UFC Gym and I just say I'm impressed. The receptionist was attentive and super customer service oriented. She helped me find what I was looking for and was easy to talk to. She showed me around the gym and even offered to help in any of the gym activities. The gym itself was clean and full of energy. The minute you walk in you feel the energy from those working out around you. The noise of folks kicking the boxing bags, the noise of the kids practicing self defense in the octagon, and the noise of the folks jumping on the blocks in CrossFit all add to the atmosphere. I felt gravitated to all of it and wanted to be part of everything. Dave the manager not only was helpful and knowledgeable he also provided insightful information on how to work out and stay in shape. I would recommend this gym to anyone from a novice to a hardcore bodybuilder. The only reason why I don't give it a six stars is because I don't live in Reno. :( read more

I first came here to the UFC gym for a YELP elite event. During the event, which was an amazing and informative workout, I won a raffle prize for a month free membership. Since then my bf, Bryan and I have came back. So far we have done another DUT class. Leslie kicked our asses with lots of weight exercises. But the pain hurts so good that we can not wait to come back and do another DUT class and kickboxing. Bryan is very interested in all of the Brazilian jujitsu. The staff here at UFC is so warm, inviting, and lets you work at your own pace. They explain things so well. I have to admit it was not my intention to join nor have I ever heard of UFC gym. It was my 14yr old that brought me through the door. We had gone to other boxing/mma gyms before. I thought "oh boy another waste of money/uniform that we will pay for and not go " he couldn't wait till it opened up, I ended up joining too and I'm so glad I did. Trust me it's not just a UFC gym, they have weights, treadmills, other exercise 1equipment, classes and its not like other gyms where you can only participate in limited classes. The Xbox1 has never been ignored this much. We come to the gym at least 4 times a week and on weekends when we can. Coaches Kelly and Johnny, Leslie have boxing and kickboxing classes, each one has a different style and that's what I love the most! My husband, son and I have been going 4-5 days a week for the last month or longer and are totally loving it. Our 6 yr old son enjoys wrestling, Jiu Jitsu, and DUT classes while we do jiu jitsu, boxing, kickboxing, fightfit, and DUT classes or free weights so we can all be there together and keep an eye on him. The coaches are all awesome and you can tell they love what they do and love people! What a refreshing change. The coaches are friendly but they also stretch you to push yourself. Hands down the best Gym around!! Been going here for a few months now and I can truly say it has been an incredible experience. It's not just a fighting gym, as I have never been interested in the "fighting culture", but the coaches and staff here have taken the time to show me the ropes! From their daily ultimate training, to their boxing and kickboxing, this place has it all. Let me start by saying, I am NOT a fighter. Hell, I wouldn't even consider myself very athletic. That being said, the UFC Gym is for EVERYONE. I stopped by on a whim and talked to the staff there. I was intimidated at first, because I was not in the best shape at the time. I figured this would be the place for only top tier athletes to train, but I was wrong. The staff are all so friendly and helpful. Not to mention, the gym itself is clean and well organized. They run a $15 for 15 Days trial, so I decided to try it and sign up for some classes. They are hard work and you'll be sweating in no time, but they are a lot of fun. Kickboxing Conditioning is my absolute favorite. The instructors are very experienced, and will teach you everything you need to know. Again, this is coming from someone with no previous experience in the UFC world. It's such a welcoming community, and a great place to get in shape. If you've been eyeing this place, but feel a little intimidated just come on in. They'll make you feel right at home. read more

One example is Kelly the MMA/BJJ/Muay Thai instructor.
