The best coffee I've had so far in England is a V60 pour-over by a Witney UE Coffee barista from a bean that he recommended to give me the bold, dark-roast flavor I wanted. It was smooth, perfectly prepared and delicious. UE Coffee Roasters are based in Witney with three coffee shops, only in Witney, and a roastery with windows to allow viewing the process. Their larger shop at 62a High Street offers "filter brew" in three way - V60, Aeropress and Chemex - each with beans ground just for your one cup. They offer a large number of excellent bean options with these three brewing methods. They don't do vat-brew filter coffee like Starbucks and some other coffee shops provide in addition to the ubiquitous espresso options. Vat-brew coffee is not as good as the three filter methods UE uses. No other coffee shop I've found in London or any of the villages in the Cotswolds offer all the filter options provided by UE, including UE's emphasis on pour-overs. And UE's breakfast, brunch, lunch and pastry food options are also the best found in any coffee shop in London and the Cotswolds. This is now my go-to place for coffee when in England. Fortunately my son and his family live in Standlake making access to Witney feasible and frequent. read more
