As such, when something significant is on my mind (like new hiking boots or poles), you'll most likely find me at REI. This Big 5i is located very close to the 88/395 interchange and I've enjoyed the convenience of stopping there for last minute trip incidentals (like wool socks or a water bottle). I've found this store to be a little dense inventory wise and a bit difficult to find what I'm looking for. At the same time, staff has been helpful and I've had good luck finding what I'm looking for.

He got a kick trainer for his birthday and it broke on the first day. The salesman that was sorta hovering and eavesdropping - popped out when we discussed the kick trainer and said "We don't have much soccer stuff. All there is are soccer balls." Then, to my shock, he recommended the competitor in town. Weird. So we went to the soccer section and whaddya know, kick trainer is there (along with many other options for a soccer kid). Before we found it another sales associate came over and said that there is "nothing really for soccer. We are out of shin guards and there's only a few balls. While he discouraged us from looking - I found it!! Wow. The inventory was pretty light, but not as light as the associates thought it was I guess. We asked about a couple of other things (I know what you are thinking - WHY?) in hopes that we would save time without searching. Sales Associate #1 told us they "haven't had live bait in months. I can't even remember the last time we did." Again, he recommended Sportsman's Warehouse. The only reason we would come back here is that they are priced below many other places. He did get most of what we came for - but not because of the employees. We'd have bought everything elsewhere if we had listened to them. Not a huge deal but hygiene was a definite challenge for Associate #1 as well. It was off putting when he smiled.

Brent at the Carson City Blue Zone is an absolute rock star…read more I addition to being kind and helpful he is amazingly knowledgeable. My wife bought new boots, not at this store, and had problems with the fit. Brent bent over backwards to help her out and after several adjustments over multiple visits they now fit her perfectly. He is one of those boot fitting geniuses, that the Tahoe area needs. I have talked to him multiple times about skis and bindings and he really knows his stuff. If you need any help with ski equipment, or skiing, he is also a youth team coach, Brent is your man. Blue zone is lucky to have him.

I checked out the Disc Golf section and had to let the employees know that the basket they were selling is being sold online for $30 cheaper. Brand new. Free shipping shipping. And if you go to an off website, it's significantly less. Sometimes it's OK to just let other people order in price for you.
