I've had to get imaging done here in the past and then recently two different kinds of CT scans…read more While it's a place I don't like to come, I've had positive experiences every-time. My most recent experience was for a neck CT scan. Something I was dreading and really worked up about. Thankfully the staff here were all A+ at helping me navigate something that I was really freaked out by. It starts with the front desk and the man/women duo were friendly, all smiles and instantly gave warmth from the minute I signed in. They didn't know about my nerves but nonetheless they were really nice. The waiting room and back changing area is fine. Nothing specific to write home about but it's clean and they get you in and out so you don't spend much time in those areas. I'd definitely give kudos to the staff for being experts and kind. As I mentioned above the staff running the neck CT scan machine were great. Two gentlemen and I'm sorry I forgot their names (I'm on medical professionals overload - so many nice people too many names to retain). They knew I was scared and they did their best to support me and try to make the process as pleasant / streamline as possible. Even more impressive was when there was an issue post scan they called a doctor right away and got me safely assessed with record speed. It was a lot but solid nice staff make all of the difference.

This review is for ROLLING OAKS RADIOLOGY - HILLCREST location (225 W Hillcrest Dr., Suite 110,…read moreThousand Oaks). My MRI was scheduled over a month in advance, and I took time off work to attend. On the day of the original appointment, I was called two hours prior to my scheduled time, and told that my appointment was canceled because the MRI technician was sick. When I attempted to reschedule, I was routed through an out-of-state automated system and told I needed a new insurance referral, despite the appointment already being authorized and canceled by Rolling Oaks. I explained this repeatedly but was refused, forcing my doctor to restart the process and delaying my MRI another month. On the day of the rescheduled appointment, I called that morning to confirm the location due to Rolling Oaks operating multiple sites. I was told to go to 415 E. Rolling Oaks Dr., Suite 125. When I arrived, after waiting about 15 minutes, staff said they could not find my appointment and told me I "probably should go to the other location". I was told that this branch would notify the other branch that I was en route (approximately 2 miles). I then immediately drove to the West Hillcrest location and arrived at 3:20 PM for my 3:30 PM appointment. The front desk staff member, LILY, refused to check me in because I had not arrived at 3:10 PM, even though the delay was caused by incorrect information provided earlier that day. She did verify that the other branch had in-fact notified them of what had happened, and that I was en route. There were no other patients in the waiting room, and no attempt was made to accommodate or escalate the situation. I also explained that my appointment was for 3:30 PM and that I had 10 minutes remaining to complete my paperwork prior to my scheduled time. She only stated my appointment would not be honored and it would need to be rescheduled citing "the office policy of arriving 20 minutes prior to your appointment time". l asked to speak to the Supervisor, and waited for her to come out as she was in a meeting. EVA, who is the branch manager later came out and I explained the entire situation and surrounding circumstances. She was dismissive and showed no concern for patient impact, continuity of care, or the delay of medically necessitated diagnostic imaging. She cited a prior text message, which I showed her only confirmed the date and time, not the location-precisely why I called that morning to verify. No corrective action or accommodation was offered. Overall, the practices of Rolling Oaks Radiology at the Hillcrest location and its leadership reflect a serious breakdown in communication, compassionate care, scheduling coordination, and administrative competence, resulting in a preventable delay of necessary medical care and a failure to meet reasonable patient-centered healthcare standards in California.

My doctor, Dr. Caroline Pieszak, recommended this place, and I'm so grateful she did. I usually get very anxious about MRIs, so I made sure to let them know ahead of time. When I arrived, they were incredibly kind and understanding. They gave me an eye mask, lavender patches, and a warm blanket -- such a thoughtful touch. I truly believe the lavender patches helped calm me and made a big difference. From start to finish, everyone was so nice, patient, and caring. I felt comfortable and supported the entire time, which is not something I usually say about MRIs. I'm so happy I found this place, and I will never go anywhere else for an MRI again. Highly recommend Tracey Cunningham

Rough start to my interactions here. I was scheduled for an open MRI, but when I was already being…read moretaken in to the changing area the tech told me that I couldn't have the open MRI machine; it would have to be the full tube. Um, no. That's not going to work for me on several levels. Also, why wasn't this indicated beforehand? The only way I could tolerate an enclosed MRI would be with advance prep. None of this was discussed with me ahead of time. So I wasted a good chunk of my afternoon, taking time off work, only to not be able to get the diagnostic test that I need to move on to treatment. It felt like the whole experience was handled with inadequate communication. Additionally, the tech kept trying to talk me in to "just trying" the other machine. If I had wanted just a traditional MRI procedure, instead of the open option, I could have gone to a different facility. The reason that my doctor booked me with this one was it's one of the few open machines in the area. Additionally, I had indicated multiple times that I have a recording device implanted for a heart condition, and the tech was the one who told me that it won't work with an open MRI. Gee, the doctor didn't think that was the case. Then I was patient-shamed because I didn't have the implant device card on me. I found out later from the cardiologist's office that they mail them some time after the implant - could be several months later. I thought they gave it to me at the time and I was the one who misplaced it. No, turns out that I never received it. Being treated as though I was careless on top of the other inconveniences of the experience did not endear me to this facility. I was pretty hopping mad when I left there, actually. I would hope for a better result on a subsequent visit which will have to be rescheduled after two other doctors confer and get on the same page. Very frustrating!

Wow! Way to discourage women from getting mammograms - this is what Rolling Oaks is all about!…read more My doctor sent me to Rolling Oaks for a mammogram and a DEXA. I called to make an appointment and they called me back. 15 minutes on the phone, the woman on the line had me take a picture and text it to her of the doctor's note - ok done. Then my ID and insurance card photos - alright this is a bit much to do to make an appointment, but ok, done. The day before my visit I get an email (which is asking for my photo ID, My insurance and my doctor's note again. I was in the middle of a deposition downtown and could not reply. There is nothing new in the email - they are simply attempting to get you to upgrade your mammogram. The appointment was made for today and I showed up to the place listed on the back of my report (415 Haaland I think, I have been here several times before.) Nope - we have changed locations and you need to drive to Hillcrest, do not worry I will call them and let them know you are on the way. I get there at 10:29 and the woman behind the counter says we may not be able to get you in because you needed to check in at 10:20. I explained that it would be nice if they let the doctor's know of the change in location and that someone had just called from the other Rolling Oaks. Nope no call had been made. She hands me paperwork and I say nope - not unless you can see me. Anyway I did fill it out and I was seen. The staff is nice but this is a money making machine. I was referred to them by my doctor and he had nothing but amazing things to say about them. My doctor said it's his favorite radiology lab because they're perfectionists and they always give him their 100% with the X-rays they take and the details they provide. It turns out he was right. When I first called, I spoke to Jessica. She was so helpful, sweet, efficient, and easy to communicate with. She sent me the link of the form to fill out online and gave me an appointment with no hassle and without having to be on the phone for too long. The form was so easy to fill out, and I was also able to upload my ID, insurance, and other information on the form so that they had everything they needed prior to my visit. I wish all offices did this prior to you showing up in the office and having to fill out a bunch of paperwork there, even before Covid. It just seems much more reasonable and organized, and it also saves so much waiting time. When I showed up, Jessica greeted me with a smile and told me it will only take a few minutes. All staff members were wearing masks and they had hand sanitizers everywhere and proper signage. It was perfect. In just a few minutes, Bianca called me in to take my X-rays. She was so sweet, super gentle, and efficient. The whole process of going, waiting, and having the X-rays taken took less than 15 minutes. I was so impressed and happy with my experience. I highly recommend this lab!
