The noodles looked right, but they tasted like they were sauteed in seawater. I had to play line cook at home and doctor them with rice vinegar, fresh lime juice, and sugar just to mask the sodium down to an edible level. The egg rolls were huge and had an exterior crunch, but the filling was practically medium-rare. To top it off, someone completely forgot the pork. I even checked my receipt to make sure I hadn't accidentally ordered vegetarian by mistake. Massive portions don't mean much when the noodles eat like a salt lick and the egg rolls are missing the meat. Hopefully just an off night on the line, but a rough return to an old favorite.

When I say everything we ate was phenomenal I mean it rivaled a lot of the major local spots that people flock to in KC for BBQ. I also loved the sauces and did feel the regular/spicy had enough of a variation to appeal to differing tastebuds (I'm a spicy fan and while it wasn't the hottest I've had it had some bite.) Despite some other reviews on here we felt the price was a great value - especially on the nachos and potato - for the amount of BBQ/food. The Mac and cheese we ordered for our daughter was also some of the best we've had out of the house and as a Texan I loved the flavor of the queso on the nachos. We have since returned many times and the service and food have been consistently good. We have brought friends and family each time who similarly rave about the food and good people serving it - and many have returned on their own without us. We also recently took the chance to try their (weekday morning) breakfast burritos after salivating over them on the menu...WOW is all I can say. Worth every penny - huge and had tons of flavor. We brought a group of 15 people, so we had plenty of opinions at the table. Unfortunately, not one person left particularly impressed. The brisket was overcooked, and the rest of the BBQ was seriously lacking in smoke flavor. They were already out of ribs at 11 a.m., but we were told they'd have more ready in about 30 minutes. Sure enough, 30 minutes later, ribs appeared -- but they tasted like they had taken a detour through an oven rather than a smoker. Naturally, being a BBQ-loving group, we had to investigate. We looked outside for the smoker and found it... but the smoke stack looked like it had been on vacation. There was virtually no smoke smell outside or inside, which probably explained a few things. I know BBQ can have an off day, and I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe we caught them on a bad day. I'll probably give them another shot sometime because I'd genuinely like to see what all the good reviews are about. When the food arrived, it was outstanding and I can say it was easily one of the most delicious Nigerian meals I've had at an African restaurant all year. The flavors were rich, the portions generous, and everything tasted freshly prepared and carefully seasoned. Truly off the chain.
