I was in Kalamazoo for a night a couple of weekends ago and when I asked the guy at the desk at my…read morehotel about a taxi referral, he directed me to Godspeed.... Pros: -The cab pretty much arrived on time (not going to sweat 5 minutes). -Cab was clean. Cons: - I made the mistake of telling the driver that I was from Chicago and I'm pretty sure I received the "Big City Special" as a result. I was, needless to say, flabbergasted when we arrived at my destination, which was less than 10 minutes away and roughly 4 miles, and was told the total was $18. EIGHTEEN DOLLARS? That was at least double what I'd have paid here in Chicago, so if this guy assumed I wouldn't bat an eyelash at the heavy price tag, well, he was wrong. -There is no meter, at least not in the cab I was in. So, I'd be willing to bet that these drivers just make up the rates as they see fit. On the way to the destination, I had asked how difficult it would be to find cab late-night. The driver gave me his personal number and said he'd give me VIP treatment, to call him when I was ready. My bad, but by the end of the night, after a long day of driving and a few drinks in me, I didn't feel like screwing around with hunting down another cab (and who knew who much it would cost, anyway?), I called him. He came and picked us up (my boyfriend was there this time around) and took us back to the hotel. This time, to no surprise, the total was $19. He explained that it was an additional dollar due to the extra person and made it very clear that he "wasn't trying to rip us off". Conclusion: Don't. Or, if you absolutely have to, don't say that you aren't from the area, although, judging by the other reviews, that may not make a difference, anyway.

I took a cab home from a bar last night. The fare was $6 for two people (0.9 mile ride)…read more Today I took a godspeed cab back to my car. When we got to my car, the driver said, "that will be $8. Uhh, $10." So I paid him and tipped him. I feel like I tipped him for ripping me off.

Wow. Could not possibly be less professional. Scott Smith emailed a quote for an event. I tried to…read morecontact him for a week, to give a deposit, through email text and calls. He forwards his calls to his drivers, who know zero about the schedule or taking a deposit. The day of the event, he finally emails me to say there is no availability. Really??!!

Horrible! My…read moreexperience began really well - the company quoted a very fair estimate and seemed great/helpful during the planning stage of our event. I had arranged for an 11AM pick-up for our party of 13 people to take a wine tour in Southwest Michigan. At 11:15AM, the driver had not arrived yet and I began calling the company and "Scott, the Manager" - only to receive voice recordings from each. At approximately 11:30AM, I received a "txt message" reading - "Sorry, our shuttle bus broke down on the highway. It is not good. The turbo blew. All we can do is refund your deposit. Sorry." No one from the company had the courtesy to call me and personally apologize or offer assistance to find another option for our wine tour transportation, which was an activity we had planned our weekend around --- we had traveled to SW Michigan from out of town to celebrate our friend's wedding engagement. This company may be cheaper than a few other options out there, but please note - if an unforeseen "break-down" occurs, this company will leave you hanging... not what I would want anyone to experience for a wedding/special event of any kind. Use at your own risk. (Also, I have not received my deposit back yet... another frustrating aspect of this situation.)
