I thought I had written a review for Uber Dog Training but to my shock I have not!! This is a going to be a relatively long review and I apologize but I just want to make sure I communicate how uberly amazing these trainers are. So grab popcorn and read on. Even before we had a pup, my Hubs was interested in putting the pup (that we didn't have yet) in training. Hubs goal was to have a "off leash" dog that will behave and stick to us while off leash. We started looking around and didn't really know where to go. Months later we got the pup and a friend of ours had recommended Uber. Then we saw how much they cost. Eeeek! Didn't feel like we could afford that. So we asked our neighbor for their trainer...still expensive...and pondered going that route. After sleepless nights from crate training a now 10 week old puppy, I got online and set up a FREE 1hr in home demo with Uber. I was ready to give my dog back to where he came from or pack up and move out...lol!! Puppies are crazy! Uber offers this for free because it's treated like a consultation. The owner comes to do the in-home demo and I was so comfortable with his ways, views and method. He had our pups attention within 2 minutes. He then takes us outside to show us his dog and what Uber will teach Our dog to eventually do. Me, my hubs, and even our pup stood in our front yard with our mouths wide open in amazement at the control he had and bond he has with his dog. Sold. Sitting on the couch with zits and messed up hair we signed little Valentino (my pup) up. And to this day I am SO glad we did. It's well worth it. For about $1800 you get 1 puppy lesson that's private(if you have a small puppy I guess?) and 4 private 1 on 1 lessons. You get an E-collar (not to be confused with a shock collar...they are totally different) and you get group classes for the lifetime of the dog. Meaning you get to go to every.single.group training class no matter how many there are in a day week or month!! That's such a great deal. You are constantly training the dog and socializing them at the same time. After our first private lesson we saw a tremendous difference. He slept better at night, was calmer during the day and was starting to build the bond and trust between us and pup! Valentino is now 7 months and he's so well behaved. We hardly use the e collar and most people think he's fully matured because of his behavior when we go in public. We take him everywhere and train him everywhere. He's not afraid of fireworks or loud noises. I can give him a "place" command and vacuum and/or sweep around him and he just watches. He won't move until I tell him he can. All this is because of what we learned at uber. They give you the resources and work so well with all dogs. You have to put in the work ...don't expect to just do classes and then not do anything when your home. Best investment we could have ever made. The services and staff of UberDog are amazing! We actually live in Apex, NC and drive over 3 hours (1 way) to go to UberDog. We had been to several trainers in the Raliegh area with our Australian Shepherd puppy and none seemed to be able to address the high energy aspects of the breed. Most training focus on training the 80-90% of dogs that are easier to train and they would rather not deal with the ones that need a little more attention. We had seen several videos and had actually met Katrina at a picnic that our breeder had. We just thought the services were awesome, yet we didn't think that we could do the 7 hour roundtrip for each session. Well, things changed quickly during a weekend "vacation" with our puppy to Charlotte. On a walk to a lake in Fort Mill, the puppy decided to throw one of her usual fits. We didn't know how to address it. All the other trainers told us to stand there and ignore her. I ended up muddy, sweaty, and bloody. This was the first day of the vacation and I told the wife to call Katrina at UberDog and see if she could offer any advice. Katrina quickly gave us some simple advice over the phone for the night and asked us to come in the next morning for a free consultation. Her approach to training was completely different than we had seen from other trainers and worked immediately. In the prior months, I had read 10+ books on training and her 2 hours of consultation worked better than any prior technique could have. The problem at this point was still that we had a 7 hour round trip for training if we wanted to proceed. The wife and I used the consult techniques throughout the day and discussed our options that night at the hotel. Since that time, we have been back for a couple of training sessions. We also found another great dog with their assistance and have him in training with them as well. It was easy to signup on their website, and I received a couple reminders about my appointment, which was nice. Greg and Uber Dog changed our life! We added a 2nd dog to our home which completely upset the balance.Our new puppy Lucy, a 6month old English Bulldog, was full of wiggles but also very dominate. We didn't know how to handle her and she was getting aggressive with the neighbors' dogs. DO NOT TRUST THIS NEGLIGENT BUSINESS TO BOARD-AND-TRAIN!!! Negligent and misused ecollar causing open wound on my dog's neck. They had the collar too tight and left it on too long in the same position WITHOUT inspecting my dog's neck daily, as the manual states. Otherwise, the wound would have been found by them, and not by me as soon as I arrived at home. They were using the collar to stimulate directly in the open wound! Made excuses and blamed everything else as cause. They had the nerve to write the following: "From the pictures and video we took of Storm during her stay with us, we cannot see the wound." My response: Even a child would know that you cannot see the wound without taking the collar off and looking underneath her neck, under the place where the collar hid, so no videos or pictures would show the would. They (Greg) blames the following for the wound, saying it "can be caused by various reasons such as heat, the dog's immune system, skin type, allergic reactions, water exposure and leaving the collar on without moving it - as your Sport Dog manual states" and was not due to their negligence. When we first looked into Uberdog, it seemed like a great deal; four private lessons and a lifetime of group lessons for a flat fee of $1075. We met both trainers briefly and they seemed competent and knowledgeable. During the private lessons, which ranged from 30 - 60 minutes each, we learned basic commands and how to use a shock collar. As instructed, we practiced with our dog several times a day for about five minutes. In short, the private lessons were adequate. We were instructed to start group classes and that is when things became disappointing. Our particular pooch is super excitable with other dogs and people. Our first group lesson was just okay. Other class members worked on the place command and we struggled to keep our dog under control among so many other people and animals. At one point a frustrated trainer told me I needed to handle him better. At that same time, the other trainer was making off-handed remarks about my children being a distraction. The second class was horrible. I went alone because my husband was refused to go back. With around 15 other dogs present I found myself totally overwhelmed. My dog was so excited he would not listen to voice commands and the shock collar was useless. To top things off, by their words and actions I felt the trainers were annoyed with me, as though I was the cause of the crazed puppy at the end of the leash. What I didn't feel was the lifetime support they offer, or any clear direction in how to handle my dog when what they had taught me clearly wasn't working. I ultimately left in frustration before the class even started. We will continue to work with our dog using what we learned in the private lessons. And we have identified resources at Petsmart to help us with socialization in a small, controlled environment. But I am doubtful that I will return to an Uberdog group class (my husband certainly will not); they are too big and I didn't feel we had enough guidance. Before signing with Uberdog I highly recommend you consider how you and your dog will do in the large group classes because that is what you are really paying for. If you factor out the group classes, we spent roughly $268 for each of the 4 private lessons. I could have spent $109 for 6 weeks' worth of classes at Petsmart, learned the exact same commands, and would be in the same place I am today...only $966 richer. read more

Proof...You Can Teach a 10 Yr. Old Dog New Tricks Max was a very protective and aggressive Maltese with people and animals of all kinds. He would bark, attack, and act like a fish on the end of a line of his leash when he saw any other people or dogs on a walk. He also watched TV and would bark at any animal he saw. This behavior was nothing but a cycle of chaos, embarrassment, helplessness for 10 long years. We had tried several dog trainers and had even followed all recommendations on the dog training TV shows, but still had no success. We had resigned to the fact that Max was going to be an indoor dog only and would always be crated when friends came to visit. This was such a sad thought because, Max loves walking and is, underneath all the fear, a very social dog. So, living only inside and isolated was boring and not any quality of life for him. Then, hope showed up...Greg and Katrina from Uber Dog drove up one day while we were outside eating lunch. Seeing his green car around several times before, I felt it was a synchronistic event for him to pull up right in front of us and sit right beside us for lunch. Being quite sure they had nothing new to offer and that I wasn't going to plop down more money on a new training method that I was quite sure wouldn't work for "OUR DOG"...since we had tried so many times before. However, because of liking them so much and their confidence that I could get results, I found myself making an appointment for a FREE in-house training for the very next week. I did have a small glimmer of hope that maybe this could work, but really I had much more cynicism and skepticism that it wouldn't. But after our first free session with Greg, I was feeling a little more confident that Max "might," just "might," get some results. Then came the moment of truth. Would I take that small, very small hope, and spend my money (which I didn't feel I had) on Max AGAIN? Yet we did, still with a great deal hesitancy. BUT it turned out to be one of the best leaps of faith we have ever taken! After the second session, we did get some results with Max, which was very exciting, and gave us just a little bit of confidence that there was a small glimmer of hope that he could change, just maybe. Those first sessions made us feel that he wasn't broken, and neither were we. Then, week after week, we kept getting results and every week we gained more confidence and so did Max. Max wasn't the perfect student and he resisted the collar/training at first, causing me to cave in with guilt and fear I was going to hurt him, but with some emotional support from Greg, we stuck with it and Max and I finally broke through and things started clicking for both of us. Now, after just a few times of in-house training and a few months of group sessions, we are walking with ease in the park "like normal dogs and owners," we are walking him in Birkdale Village, and letting people and kids, and even DOGS, walk up to him and greet him with no negative reactions. It is a real breakthrough!!!! No more leaving outings utterly embarrassed, frustrated and hopeless like we used to. We have gained our lives back. And our dog. We have order and control again...no more guilt for not being able to give Max the quality of life he deserves...no more blame and beating ourselves up for having such an out of control dog. Now, I share Uber Dog with every dog owner I run into, who is looking for some kind of improvement, in hopes they will gain the quality of life we have for them and their furry friends. Greg came to our house to meet with our family and of course our dogs! At the time we had a seven month old rescue, high energy, mixed pom/spaniel. We also have a nine year old cocker spaniel. In order to get the best experience out of this form of training you need to not have a job and if you do and realize you can no longer attend, understand that you've wasted 1,000+ dollars even if you were only able to attend 4 classes. Shock collars are required for the training and actually made my dog's behavior worse. This is probably a great way to train your dog if you don't have much going on. Otherwise it's a complete waste of money. I'm sure they've had this complaint before because when I signed up they even had me sign a waiver that if I can't bring my dog in consistently it's my fault and no refund will be given. Great way to conduct business. Lost 2,000+ going here. Awesome place! Let me just say that I brought my two girls in four times, maybe five, and their behavior didn't get better. I worked with them at home, but Gregg never helped me with what I came in there for; their fear of other dogs that would manifest as aggression. Just do your research before you go here. If the issues you're bringing your dog in for will be fixed with a shock collar then go for it. I adopted a 6 month old pitbull that was severely traumatized and had become highly dog aggressive. Like most first-time dog owners, we did not know how to correctly train our pup ourselves (HELP!). We fell in love with UberDog within the first 10 minutes of walking into Katrina's home (where we met for our consultation and where our dog was mostly trained). Katrina and Phil not only trained Mozzy to be house broken but also taught him acceptable dog behavior (no play biting, no jumping, no barking, how to greet people, how to get your dog to listen to your commands, leash training, easy commands, how to play with your dog, crate behavior, potty training, amongst other things) in the house and in public places. We can take our dog everywhere now - to our friends & families homes, to dog approved shopping areas, to work, etc. While Mozzy was at the 2-week Quick Start we received regular message, photo, video updates on Mozzy. We received follow-up home visits (trust me, you will need this), and amazing support (they always reply to my phone calls and messages). As a long time dog lover (and owner) I thought I knew it all. Well Parks showed me I was wrong! My other two pooches (Fred and Sam) were pretty easily trained as puppies with a 10 week class with a good friend. A street smart boxer mix at 18 months old with high prey drive and protective tendencies was a different situation all together. After trying everything I knew for a few months I did some research and booked out a free demo with UberDog Training. After talking for a bit and getting to know my expectations and issues Katrina took Parks outside and before wrapping up the demo got her to place, sit and stay (none of which I was able to do in 3 months)! I hesitated at the cost and the e-collar. After some thinking and talking I decided it was worth it with the private lessons to get the basics, group lessons to have her interact with other dogs/distractions/situations and that she would have training for her whole life. It just made sense and I signed up that day. Their philosophy of "good dog, good life" resonated with me! The private lessons were great and Katrina even incorporated my other pooches to work with Parks. Before we ever used the e-collar Katrina made sure that we tested it on ourselves so that we would understand what we were doing. An e-collar is only as good as the education that comes with it. There is no "shocking" for punishment and you learn how to use it in a very safe and effective way. The e-collar can literally be a lifesaver once your dog is off leash trained. Katrina additionally came to my house with her own crate when I couldn't get Parks to love her crate. We went on trips to other locations sometimes with her brother and sister as they were a pack at that point. Finally Parks was ready for group class! I am not sure I was, but Katrina assured me I was ready so I jumped right in. Like any new situation it takes time. You have to check yourself at the door and be ready to listen and learn. What is great about UberDog is that not only are the dogs in training but so are the owners. They strive to address everyone's issues by asking before, during and after class, offering individual time at every turn. Katrina and Greg are there to help every class member so sometimes you have to be patient. At UberDog I feel part of a community. After 1 1/2 years I still participate in as many classes as possible (up to 4 a week!). I have met with Katrina before and after class to work on specific things as well as contacted her via email and text with questions. Greg has taken time during class to work with me on walking most specifically but also to remind me to let Parks know what she is doing is what I expect. At least once per class we are reminded to play with your dog as part of the training. How simple and fun is that?! Dog training is not "one size fits all." It is very individual using proven techniques. The fee is well worth getting the basics that you then build on every day of your life. The group classes are work (and fun). There are all levels and types of dogs in the classes so you need to be aware. This is school after all and everyone is there to learn. However there are also hikes, group outings like a hockey game or even concerts at WWC. Heck I would have never thought to take my pack out to Triple C if it weren't for UberDog. Über Dog has been a life changing experience and has been worth every penny. I moved to Uptown Charlotte six months ago from a small town with my wife and two dogs into an apartment building. Being from a small town where the houses are so spread out we never realized the behavior issues that our dogs had, especially in walking by other dogs. Walking down the streets with dogs in the city was a struggle everyday, but unavoidable because it was the only option. After a month of the dogs pulling us on the leash down the street, barking at every dog, lunging at dogs and people, we had had enough of ducking around corners to avoid oncoming dogs. Greg came to our house and you could immediately see his connection with the dogs and could tell that he was sincere about wanting to improve our lives with our dogs. So after the demo my wife and I talked, about it and decided this was a great fit, we especially loved the fact that your dogs were signed up for life and the idea of weekly group lessons. There has been no looking back since that day, the transformation is absolutely astonishing. We now comfortably walk down the streets all over uptown and we are excited, no longer terrified, to see other owners walking their dogs. We even take them to a field by our apartment and remove their leashes and throw their favorite toys around and allow them to freely run while people are jogging by or walking their dogs with confidence that they will not chase them. We adopted two 4 months old Dachshund puppies and were looking for help with house and obedience training. Since these are our first dogs we were quite inexperienced with dog training, and quite frankly were somewhat overwhelmed. We contacted a few dog trainers in the Charlotte area, and decided that we would take advantage of the Uberdog free in-home demo session.
