Dropped my 1 year old cat off last Wednesday and she had a great 5 night stay. We picked her up and she was a little shaky from so many changes. My daughter and I kept her cat with Debbie and Kaitlyn over the holidays and they were excellent hosts to our cat. When I first went to see the facility to make sure it was okay for her after reading the reviews, a lady dropping her dogs off greeted me. She was a repeat customer and she brings her dogs multiple times a week. There were other customers I ran into with dogs who said the same thing. We were happy with how our cat was treated but also how the staff treated my daughter and me. Quick to respond to texts and no problem if we needed to extend. When we move to Brunswick County NC in 1998, we searched for a reliable and trustworthy kennel for our baby, a Pomeranian. Diamond-a-kennel became our pets home away from home. The Somersets became extended family to us. From sometime in 1999 til 2021, we boarded not only our pom but later our shih-tzu there. I highly recommend this kennel. We have not gotten another pet since our last one died in 2021, but if I did I would not hesitate to board it at this facility. I have boarded my dogs here for many years. My dogs run in barking hello. Diamond A cared for my diabetic dog when I had to travel. They are family owned and operated. There is someone on the property 24/7. They are open on Sundays but their hours are shorter. I am glad they only allow visitation by appointment as this prevents a barrage of people coming through the kennels. My dogs like peace and calm. I have trained and shown dogs for many years and I am very pleased with the care my dogs get here. read more

Everyone, please listen, and read Google Reviews of this place, as well as the September local news story that speaks of this kennel's violations and 3 dog deaths. We boarded our dogs earlier this year, and it was a frightening experience. Our dogs were dehydrated and not let out, as evidenced by their dog bed being completely saturated with pee when we picked them up, to the point of dripping. Both of our dogs had significant declines in health after staying at this kennel. The kennel also reeked, and I should not have dismissed that. No camera access to back or in-person inspections of the kennel are red flags. Good kennels do NOT work like that. They are transparent. Since the deaths and numerous warnings via Google reviews and on the news, it is obvious the owners have gotten people they know to flood it with 5 star reviews rather than humble themselves about the problems that are there. January violations were repeated in the fall. To me there seems to be a pervasive attitude of pride, which is resulting in endangering little animals who cannot speak out about their experience. This morning I am asking the Lord to shut this place down, and provide for the owners someplace else where their pride is not able to harm defenseless creatures anymore. read more

Very nice owner and friendly staff. That's what I thought. First of all I paid extra for a bath before I picked her up. They did not bath her that day. Her hair was greasy and the coat not shiny and smelled bad. The placed smelled horrible and that was just in the office. We wasn't allowed to see her living quarters during that week. It is my fault for not just walking back out the door. This Kennel was recommend by the place we stay at. Something else, we noticed. she peed, poo and drank so much. She cried and about jump out of my arms just to use the bathroom which she never cried like that before. We will never use this kennel ever. Something isn't right about this place. learned my lesson. read more

Droped off 2 maltese Saturday, 6/1/24. Asked to go back to see kennels. Would not allow, 1st red flag. Closed Sundays, no visitation, 2nd red flag. Picked up both dogs for fun time Monday. Asked again to go back and view kennels. Not allowed. Both dogs extremely dehydrated and drank so much water, the older dog threw up. I'm a dog trainer with 35+ years experience and a retired AKC trial event judge. I know kennels and dogs. These dogs were allowed to go without water too long. I suspect all day Sunday. This kennel is substandard and I would never recommend boarding at this facility. Additionaly, both dogs came out smelling of urine which tells me they were not aired properly. read more

Let me start by saying that I don't usually board my dogs; they travel with us almost all of the time. Debbie and Steve are the sweetest, kindest pet loving kennel owners around! They are extremely knowledgeable, take exceptional interest in all of their clients and any special needs they may have. My girls are French Bulldogs and have to be kept together and they love going to see Debbie and Steve. So glad I have them to rely on when we can't take Ella and Libby with us. I have boarded 2 of my dogs here (one at a time) and am very please how well they took care for them. Going to board here again and this will be the fifth time I have used this kennel. My one dog (Gizzy) needed 2 different kinds of medicine each day and they were willing to give her the medicine. This is our second time using the pet boarding at Diamond A Kennels. We are extremely pleased with the way they treated our dog, a cocker spaniel named Gus! His first visit was for 12 days over the Christmas- New Year holidays 2019-2020. Gus was taken good care of by Debbie & Steve, the owners. Just recently, we had an emergency & needed to board Gus for a few days. We immediately contacted Diamond A Kennels. We had no problem getting him in for the visit. Honestly, I'm blown away at the care my dogs received while staying here! This was my first time ever boarding my dogs (one is 8, the other is 3) and I was extremely hesitant. The owners are so friendly and you can tell that they treat every animal as their own. My older dog is on 3 different medications and she can be pretty difficult with new people as she is an ornery heeler. They were prompt in getting her medication at the same time every day and making sure all of her needs were met while respecting her breed and interacting with her properly. My other dog drank a bunch of saltwater while I took him out to the beach and of course got sick. They knew exactly what to do and how to make him feel better and took such good care of him throughout the night. Extremely knowledgeable family who's passionate about animals! Can't recommend this place enough to anyone needing a place to board their pets. They definitely take the time to understand the needs of each individual pet and make sure they are taken care of. Excellent first time (for us) boarding experience with our beagle, Jackson. We spent the days at the beach with him and returned him by 6, when he was warmly greeted by staff-owners with petting and scratching! He was perfectly content about returning. WE had separation anxiety the first night but got over it fast, because he was so content and calm and about going back. I left a baggie of treats with him, and there were just one or two left at the end of his stay! Very experienced, accommodating and friendly management. read more

Had to bring our Doberman with us on vacation and booked kind of last minute and they were very accommodating! We were able to go pick Jax up for the day one day so he could spend time with us! We will never use them again. We work for Fire Dept's in SC, because both of us had to work during the storm and the flooding for extended periods we had to board our dogs. We don't ask for anything but to charge someone who is out helping the citizens of the county full price is totally wrong. If they had any respect for public safety they wouldn't have charged us 480 dollars to keep our dogs for 6 days. If we owned the business any public safety personnel would not be charged a dime after what we all are going through, pure greed at it's best. read more
