However, after an inspection, we discovered that replacing the older furnace was the best course of action. Despite the hot and humid weather, Boehmer's efficiency and professionalism shone through. The entire process, from the initial inspection to the installation, was seamless and swift. I highly recommend their services. The technicians were prompt, efficient and knowledgeable. They did a great job installing the furnace, air filter, and new thermostat. Our new furnace is running flawlessly, and the post-installation gesture of cookies was a delightful surprise. We have no complaints so far and are confident in our decision to continue working with this outstanding HVAC company.

I hired Simple Fix Home Repair and Remodeling for two large projects and unfortunately had a very…read morefrustrating experience from start to finish. For the first project, they removed and rebuilt a set of egress steps at the rear of a duplex. I provided professional drawings, site plans, and had already requested the permit through the City of Pittsburgh, so expectations were clear from the start. Communication throughout the project was extremely poor. I consistently had to chase down Brad, the project manager, just to get basic updates. He would often respond saying he needed to check with Tyler (the onsite worker), but then I would have to follow up again to actually get any answers. There was no proactive communication, and workers would often show up without notice, which made managing the project unnecessarily stressful. Quality of work on the first project was also disappointing. During the final inspection, several items did not pass. One of the required fixes was to apply silicone between the new deck and the house. The result was shockingly sloppy--silicone was smeared across the wood in multiple areas instead of being neatly applied where needed. It honestly looked like it was done with no care or attention to detail. The second project involved multiple items identified on a borough inspection report, including building a deck, installing handrails with baluster guards, replacing floor jacks with mono columns, and installing a condensate pump to eliminate a PVC drain line that was a tripping hazard. Unfortunately, the same issues continued--and in some cases were worse. The scope of work was clearly defined in the inspection report, yet key items were done incorrectly. For example, the existing basement pipe handrails were removed as requested, but instead of installing code-compliant handrails with baluster guards, they installed simple wood handrails without any baluster protection. Similarly, they were instructed to replace floor jacks with permanent mono columns. Instead, they initially installed new floor jacks again. After I raised the issue, they returned to install mono columns--but even then the work was not done correctly. The posts were installed with undersized screws at the top and were not bolted to the floor at all. When I questioned this, Brad responded that drilling bolts into the concrete might cause it to "blow apart" and said I would need to sign off on any risk if they proceeded. This was not an acceptable solution. I ultimately had to hire another contractor to properly secure the posts with appropriate fasteners and anchoring. A few weeks later, another serious issue surfaced: the condensate pump had been wired incorrectly into the furnace circuit board. I had a licensed HVAC company come out, and they confirmed and documented the improper installation. In addition to the workmanship issues, there are still unfinished items. When the deck was built, piles of dirt were left in the backyard with the promise they would return to clean it up. That has still not been completed. Between the lack of communication, repeated mistakes, incomplete work, and the need to hire additional professionals to correct their errors, this was a very disappointing experience. I would not recommend Simple Fix Home Repair and Remodeling based on the quality of work and overall project management.

Key Takeaway: My husband and I highly recommend Phillips Heating & Air Conditioning. We'd like to…read moregive a special thank you to Jim, Nate, Mike, and Wesley. What a fantastic team - each team member was friendly and professional. They even managed to befriend our cats during the install and were very careful making sure neither of them slipped out during all the trips in and out of the house. We couldn't be happier with our experience and the end product, which is a beautifully installed system that both cools (and heats!) our home perfectly. We have already recommended the team to friends and would choose them a hundred times over if we had to do it again. Full Experience: We were fortunate to find Phillips Heating & Air Conditioning during our search for ductless AC since our home does not have an attic or an unfinished basement. We did our due diligence in having walkthroughs with 3 different companies during our evaluation process. Jim Phillips was the only contractor who found creative ways to preserve the unique style of our home while saving us from another summer of melting. He is also the only contractor who followed up with us after providing a quote and had several phone calls with us to address all questions and concerns. So we confidently contracted with Jim's company because we knew that they would take care of us as actual customers since they took such care with prospective ones. On the first morning, Nate and Mike arrived promptly and conducted an independent walkthrough to learn the layout and ensure that they were comfortable with the execution strategy. Soon after, Jim arrived to confirm the final plan with them (and us). We really appreciated this extra effort and it gave us total comfort in our decision to contract with Phillips Heating & Air Conditioning. Each morning of the install, the team arrived right on schedule and got to work after greeting us. Throughout the day, they consulted with us on any decisions that needed to be made and ensured that we were comfortable with location of units, line hide placement, etc. We also appreciated that they would share recommendations and treated this job as if they were working on their own homes. At the end of each work day, Nate always made sure to do a closeout update with us to show the progress that had been made, communicate the plan for the next day, and answer any questions. They always asked our permission to leave tools and materials behind for the day (which of course we agreed so they didn't have to waste time staging everything in the morning). Because our install was during the pandemic, they wore masks any time they moved through our home and they wore shoe covers and/or used a drop cloth inside at all times. They were really diligent about this and not once did I have to remind them about PPE. I am a germaphobe and was very grateful that they did not give me a single thing to worry about. They also used a shop vac wherever they were drilling so they kept things really nice and neat. They did a phenomenal job with the install as well as the cosmetic work. We thoroughly enjoyed working with them and are thrilled with the outcome. Go with Phillips Heating & Air Conditioning. You will be glad you did!
