The good stuff: very accessible and helpful to deal with on the phone. I was kept up-to-date on the front end of my move and U-Pack did what it said it would do. That made my life a lot easier. Not-so-good stuff: there was a significant failure to communicate between U-Pack and the staffing company (which they selected) in my new location in terms of where the trailer would be for unloading. That created more headaches for me and meant that I had to cancel my existing contract with the staffing company and work directly with the local folks. read more

Don in the Wichita, KS office was very nice and very helpful. Being a single woman with a huge house full of furniture, this was a great option for me. It gave me time to load, I didn't have to worry about driving a big truck all by myself, which I have no idea how to do, and I had time to unload without having to be in a hurry. The three day window before and after is awesome. Both drivers I met and talked to were very kind and helpful. The only issue I had was with the communication between the dispatch and the actual truck drivers about my truck delivery and pick up times and payment. All the men I spoke with were very nice but the one lady I spoke to was not very nice or patient. The U-pack price was very affordable also. I used U-Pack for my recent move from Wichita, KS to New York, New York and I am VERY glad I did. Let me start by giving a shout out to VONDAL MOORE. He is the customer service representative that helped me through the entire move process. He is based out of Fort Smith, AR but I got hold of him by contacting the ABF 1-800 number. I highly recommend asking for him specifically. He made sure I knew where my shipment was, when it would arrive, all the rules for NYC deliveries, and he answered a lot of random questions I had even after our phone conversations. He promptly replied to all my emails, even if it was on a weekend. Vondal gets a A++ for customer service. Advantages of using U-Pack: 1) U-Pack charges you by container, not by weight. Unlike many professional moving services, you are not exposed to risk for going over your (or their) estimate. You know how much you are going to pay from the beginning, there are no surprises, only honesty. 2) If you don't have a place to live in your new location when you move, U-Pack will store your moving containers at their facility for $125 for 30 days. This gives you plenty of time to find a place to live, then call to have your shipment delivered in a few days. 3) You don't have to drive a big truck to get your belongings to your new home. I especially didn't want to drive a moving truck in NYC! 4) You get to load the containers yourself. While the physical labor isn't an advantage, knowing your precious belongings were packed well gives you peace of mind. 5) You get to put your own locks on the shipping container so you know nobody else can mess with your stuff. 6) ABF was the least expensive (notice I didn't say cheapest) moving container specialist I quoted, and I quoted several. 7) Great communication from the company. There was a small mix up when they thought my delivery date was going to be delayed three days, so Vondal, my rep, called to discuss it with me, and he had the Facility Manager from the Wichita location call and apologize for the delay. While I was talking to the Facility Manager, he realized there actually wasn't a delay and my containers had already arrived at the destination terminal. They were so focused on my satisfaction that instead of making excuses, they immediately called to let me know what was going on at the first hint of an issue. Disadvantages of using U-Pack: 1) Depending on the city to which you move, you may have limited time to unload. We only had 4-hours in NYC. It was plenty, but we were a little tired. 2) If your destination terminal is in a big city, they may miss the appointed time. We were scheduled between 1 and 5, and they showed at 5:30. Not a huge deal, except that we only had 4 hours to unload so our friends (helpers) ended up waiting the entire 4.5 hours, too. Made it difficult to retain help. 3) You have to buy your own locks if you don't already own 4. Overall my experience as positive. I will most likely use U-Pack for my next move. read more

For a recent move from south-central KS to the Kansas City area, we opted to save money by packing and moving some of our belongings ourselves. Options were limited by the lack of service providers in our area--no pods or other storage containers. I was lucky to find U-Pack, and WOW'ed by their excellent customer service. At every step of the process, everyone I spoke with or interacted with was so helpful and professional. The drivers made sure the trailer was parked in a good position for us on both ends (loading and unloading) and that I knew how to use the equipment on the trailer. When our trailer was not delivered during the window expected, the dispatcher apologized, accepted full responsibility, and ensured our trailer was still delivered that night. The error was clearly not his and yet he didn't waste time or breath blaming someone else, he just made sure that we got our trailer. When we didn't use as much space as we had reserved, they adjusted our rate without any hassle. All around, this company was a breeze to work with and I would absolutely recommend them and use them again! read more

My husband, children, and I recently moved from Kansas to Washington. Loved how the original quote was low and then we were charged even less since we didn't use as much space in the trailer as expected. We were originally going to move with a Pod but the price was over $1000 higher. Even after adding 2 months of storage and a change in drop off location we still saved $1000. The truck driver was respectful. It was dropped off and picked up on time. Would definitely use again if we were going to move a long distance away. read more

My experience with UPack was a good one. The schedulers and drivers were very helpful and accommodatirng. Getting the 28' trailer into 2 parking spaces was very impressive! And they able to drop off and pick up the same day so as to avoid complaints from my new neighbors. They were also half as expensive as Pods! read more

It was a very good company to work with! They were very prompt with pick up and delivery. My only complaint would be how they judge what fits. There is absolutely no way a three bedroom house big or small would fit in two of their pods unless everything you owned went into a box. It was a stressful mess trying to get everything to fit! It definitely beats the price and stress of driving a uhaul just make sure you get enough pods don't pay to much attention to their recommendation on what fits. read more
