I used U-Pack moving to relocate from Iowa City to Washington D.C. It's my second time using the company to move cross-country. I would not think twice about what service provider to use if I move again-- U-Pack is the way to go. CHOOSING U-PACK OR A COMPETITOR: In comparison to their competitors (U-Haul, Pod, etc.) their price is similar. I found U-Pack to be about $100 more than U-Haul, but you get what you pay for. However, you receive a heavy duty metal box from U-Pack that protects your belongings from weather. U-Haul's service is a somewhat flimsy looking plywood box with a tarp cover over it. I might consider them for a very short move (across town) given that no precipitation is forecasted. BUT, weather doesn't have to be a concern with U-Pack because their box is reliable. PACKING THE BOX: As long as you strategically pack your shipping box, all of your belongings should arrive as expected. We personally packed our box both moves and experienced no damage to our items except for a flimsy laundry rack that we haphazardly threw into the unit. Please note that you do need to provide a lock for your unit. COMMUNICATION WITH COMPANY: The communication with their local branches was efficient, quick, and easy. My shipping box was delivered, departed, and arrived at the scheduled times by humans that were pleasant to interact with. In short, I would use U-Pack again in a heartbeat. read more

The two guys who delivered the cube were fun and easy to work with AND their forklift skills were incredibly impressive. My packed cube was even delivered a day earlier than originally expected. I wasn't familiar with U-Pack prior to my 1200 mile move and was thrilled to find an option "in the middle". I wasn't in a situation where driving my own truck of things was feasible but also needed access to items in a fairly quick manner after arrival. U- pack was easy to work with from start to finish with coordinating my loading, trailer pick up and delivery within 5 business days to my new place. Drivers were helpful, friendly and professional. The only damages were a few older wood items that I believe we didn't do as well loading/ pacing as we could have but - live and learn for next time! Otherwise from service to pricing and communication to efficiency, I was pleased all around with my experience of using u-Pack. Since I'm quite certain I'll move again at some point in the future, I'm happy to have found this option and would certainly recommend it to friends and family not wanting to deal with the hassles of driving there own items long distances. There are other services available to consider as well and it's always nice to find a company that provides comprehensive "care" during an already stressful time. Used them for a move from the midwest to the east coast. They gave an accurate estimate. Delivered 2 relocubes on request but only charged me for the one I used. Delivery was on time and they were kind enough to do storage till I could get there. Plus could track the shipment. Very reliable service and would highly recommend. read more

When we moved from Paso Robles CA to Iowa we had a great experience. The trailer was dropped off for us and we packed it. Everything was in place and all still there when it arrived. We called to have them Take the trailer it made it to our new house two days sooner. We then unloaded everything called them and they came back the next day and removed the trailer. We moved semi cheaply but only had 7ft of space and spent about 2,500 on this move. 7ft filled up quick so you need to pack things tight and smart! read more

I'm not sure if I'm supposed to write this review for U-Pack in South Plainfield, NJ; or in Cedar Rapids, IA; but we used U-Pack to move between the two and were very happy. They showed up when they said they would. They delivered the containers as promised, and they charged the price that they quoted. Also, because parking was scarce at the apartment that we originally moved to in Cedar Rapids, the guy from ABF really took the time to work through the best way to drop our two containers to fit them in one parking spot without compromising my ability to get things in and out. I especially liked that U-Pack had the option to do smaller containers than their competitor for roughly the same prorated price, i.e. we got 2 containers that were each about 1/3 of the size of the competitor's, and our cost for each was roughly 1/3 of the competitor's. Having 2 smaller containers was easier to pack / unpack, and worked out to 2/3 of the price. read more

Excellent service. Every aspect was a pleasure from sales, customer service, dispatch and drivers. Everyone was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions with an eagerness that made us successful. UPack were very flexible with our move. We did not have our destination house purchased yet and UPack gave us a week to close and then delivered the trailers, at no extra charge. The Upack cubes are a great way to move a relatively small amount of belongings across the country. I just moved 3 cubes from Cedar Rapids, IA to the Tacoma, WA area and everything went GREAT! Both the originating and final destination service centers were very helpful regarding info for the move as well as flexibility in drop off and pick up dates. The cubes packed easily, I was able to load a lot of things into the container and I did not experience any issues with damage (either from my packing or the handling of the containers). I would highly recommend this method of shipment to anyone making a move. read more

I have nothing but good things to say about my experience with ABF Relo-cube moving from Brooklyn to Iowa City. You do need to be flexible as timing windows on the days of drop-off and delivery can be wide but I definitely recommend this service! We were able to fit a good deal into one Relo-cube, it is surprisingly big. read more
