Every vehicle we've rented has smelled like cigarettes or some type of foul odor. Just go to a different one

Christina is very rude and unprofessional. Stated that she don't feel comfortable renting a storage to me.

ZERO STARS!!!! WORST rental experience EVER! I am part owner of Cleansville Movers & we have been renting trucks from Uhaul for our clients for three years now & have never experienced such a level of hatred and disrespect in all of our years of service. To begin the day we specifically ask to be booked at a different location that was closer to the client home. When we arrived to pick up the truck at 7am the young lady at that location said that she was new and didn't know how to work the system. She didn't have anyone there to assist her so we had to be transferred to another location. That location didn't have the truck size that we needed so we were again transferred to this location. My husband walks into the door the young lady at the desk looks up & then back down as if she didn't see him come into the store. My husband noticed, but stands there waiting to be greeted and not a word was said to him. Keep in mind that we have a client waiting for us arrive with the truck at 8am. By this time we were about an hour past the arrival time. So finally he spoke, she gave him a snoody look and went back to what she doing. He spoke again telling her that he had a reservation for a 26ft truck. She looks it up and sees that someone changed it from a 26ft truck to a 15ft truck. Somehow with all the running from location to location our truck size reservation was reduced from a 26ft truck to a 15ft truck. She finally tells him that she doesn't want to rent him the truck because she doesn't believe he will bring the truck back. She claimed that a lot of people don't return the trucks. Now what strikes me as odd is, as stated before, we have been renting trucks from Uhaul for three years! How on earth could she have not seen that and known that we are trust worthy enough to bring the truck back. We just came back from Savannah and spent $714.03 on the truck and car dolly that we rented. We have moved people all over the US and not once have we not returned a truck. How every other person that pulled us up and saw it knew that we were regular loyal customers and she didn't is beyond me. My husband ask, why do you not trust me and you have never even met me? He told her that we are regular customers and that we rent from Uhaul dang near daily. So she said to my husband "I don't trust you and I don't want to rent you the truck. Then she says "I will rent you a 15ft truck but not the 26ft truck." So now he is confused and says "I don't understand, so you will rent me the 15ft but not the 26ft? Why? What is the difference between me renting one but not the other?" She replies, "I don't trust YOU. So I will only let you rent a 15ft truck" So my husband eager to get to the client which at this point we are about an hour and 45mins late for their project, says, "Fine, I don't have to drive around to find another 26ft truck (keep in mind there were several 26ft trucks outside) just give me that one then." Now this client has a 4 bedroom home, there is no way will all of his treasures were going to fit into such a small truck. Then all of a sudden after all that she says "You know what, I just don't feel comfortable renting my truck to YOU." Again my husband ask why not. She replied, "It's YOU I don't trust" Then out of nowhere this big due comes from the back looking at him all crazy as if there was some kind of serious problem going on that he needed to handle. Giving my husband a look meant for intimidation. Needless to say it didn't work in the manner he intended. It only made us want to discontinue our service with Uhaul all together & go with Penske. I was on the phone the whole time hearing this lady refuse to rent my husband a truck treating him like a criminal. So now close to two hours late we had to call our client to come up there to rent the truck. We had to refund for the truck & the inconvenience of being 2.5hrs late. She gave him the same treatment stating that she doesn't trust him either. We ended up going to a forth location where we were finally able to obtain a 26ft truck for our project. When we got to the forth location and told the young lady what happened she said that she was the area (or regional) manager & that people are always complaining about their racism & their refusal to rent to African-American people. She said that every client that had complained about them doing this were African-American. You would hope that this would not still be an issue in this day and age. Here we are proven loyal customers of Uhaul and to have to deal with this mess from someone full of ignorance and hate. I can almost guarantee you that this young lady doesn't even have a clue as why she wants to discriminate against African-Americans other than that fact that our skin is different. Clearly it wasn't trust because we have a three year history of rentals with Uhaul & not on single note in the system about non returns or damages to any the property, not putting fuel back in them or anything of the sort. read more
