So when I saw a family friendly grand opening for Snapology on a weekend I had my granddaughter I was eager to check it out. Going in the place was packed and had met the limit of people the fire department would allow. I was ready to leave and come back but after seeing all the cool play stations my granddaughter was excited to play. Fortunately I decided to wait till a few people left and only waited a few minutes. During the wait I still had no idea what/how this business operated and it looked like just a room with different play stations so I took the wait as an opportunity to ask questions and find out exactly what they do. From what I learned Snapology is a number of things. The majority of the play stations are based on building; whether that be with Legos, Lincoln Logs, Erector sets, Duplex, etc. They host building workshops for older kids to use these materials to build complex subjects. They also offer hours of drop off/free play for kids 5 and up, and free play for kids under 5 with the parents present. This service is $8 hour/per child and does have limited times/hours. Additionally they offer day camps and preschool, host birthday parties, and as time goes on will probably add more services and special events. So when it was our turn to go in and play my granddaughter ran to the Lego Friends table. These certainly aren't the Lego's I grew up with! I thought they were too advanced for a four year old as they have itty bitty pieces and lots of tiny components but she loved it. There's tiny people and you can change their heads, hair, etc....as well as tiny animals, pieces to build houses, playgrounds, pools....I had to literally drag her away from that station to check out what else was offered. There was also a kiddle pool full of bigger piece Legos, erector sets for older kids, a room featuring remote control cars, a racetrack for your Lego cars to race down, a train table and so much more. A smaller area separated by (so cool!) HUGE Lego block walls was centered more towards toddlers with a dress up area, play kitchen, puzzles, Melissa & Doug toys, a huge dollhouse, and role playing toys. While this area was more in her age group she seemed bored with it and kept gravitating towards the Friends Lego station. Throughout the building staff were there to supervisor and assist. There are several tables in the back for parents to sit and relax and a few low poufs in the play area to supervisor your children. They also had buckets for toys that were dirty or came in contact with a child's mouth for cleaning. Overall we loved it and have made plans to come back. Somethings I thought they could do better; the poufs are difficult for older people to get up from. I would have loved to see higher seating throughout for the parents, as well as more hooks for coats/purses as there were only a few. Lockers would be a good alternative. I was surprised there weren't any Little People playsets for the little ones, although I think the suggested age of play for the "toddler area" would be age 4 and up. Also more classes and preschool classes available at night for working parents as everything is geared towards parents that stay home, as well as more "free" play hours. Otherwise a unique business concept that I'm happy to patronize.

They run it it a publicly traded company to maximize their profits and treat customers that have been with them for years as cash cows. Increases every year beyond the cost of inflation and their handling of the mask mandate show that their priorities are money first people second. At least two of the staff are also extremely petty and couldn't wait to shove "favors" back in peoples faces and trivialized a persons medical condition when called on it. Not the type of behavior people in community positions should be displaying.

My son has high functioning autism.I have never expected him to receive special treatment or to avoid consequences when he makes mistakes. My concern has always been that he be treated fairly, consistently, and with the understanding required of any child with a documented disability. Instead, I experienced poor communication, inconsistent expectations, and a lack of meaningful collaboration despite my repeated efforts to work with staff. I documented my concerns through email and made every effort to partner with the program to help my son succeed, but I was ultimately left feeling that he was viewed as a problem rather than a child who needed support. I want to be clear that this review is not directed at the few teachers, that showed him kindness and support. My concerns are specifically with how the recreation program handled the situation. Every family's experience may be different, but ours was disappointing enough that I cannot recommend this program to families of children who may need patience, consistency, and a willingness to work together After exhausting my attempts to resolve the situation directly with the program, I filed a complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice because I believed the issues warranted further review

A Hidden Gem in Lancaster, Perfect for Little Ones!…read more We were visiting from out of town and found Tiny Town Play Place in Lancaster, PA through a quick Google search. We are so thankful we did. Our original plans for the day fell through, and we needed somewhere fun and safe to keep our 1.5-year-old entertained. Tiny Town turned out to be the perfect solution. We paid for three hours but only stayed for two because our little guy was so active and engaged that he tired himself out. The play place is filled with a variety of adorable, themed rooms that really sparked his imagination. Some of our favorites included the diner, kitchen, hair salon, animal hospital, firehouse, and a stage with pretend costumes. Every area was thoughtfully designed, with high-quality toys and materials that were all in great condition. The entire facility was very clean, and the staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly. One feature I really appreciated was the ability to bring your own food and drinks. They also offer small snacks and beverages for purchase, which is a great option for families. Tiny Town truly thought of everything. Even the bathrooms were impressive. They were stocked with wipes, feminine items, lotion, and had motivational signs that offered a nice boost for tired parents and older kids. It is clear that this place was created with both children and caregivers in mind. I highly recommend Tiny Town to any family with young children looking for a fun, safe, and enriching play experience. We are already looking forward to coming back the next time we are in Lancaster.

There was no crowd and we actually came in time for the bubble party. The staff is very kind walking around picking up toys and making sure it's safe and clean as possible but they're not helicoptering during. They let your kids play but they do pick up after them. I think it was well worth the money my kids had an awesome time. We will definitely come back for sure.

We signed up for Science Explorers & he has enjoyed it so much that he asked to do a second week! It's all virtual, through Zoom, but a week before they send a box filled with all the items they'll need for the week. Each experiment is prelabeled, in its own bag, & only a very few items are needed from home (like scissors). The instructor is patient & engaging, ensuring the questions are answered and a break is given (it is a 2.5 hour "class"). While my son has needed some help here & there, it is very age appropriate for the group of children who signed up. I seriously recommend Science Explorers to anyone who child loves doing experiments!!

Ahhh, Woodward. My…read moreson and I just retuned from our 5th year. It has become our Mecca every summer. He for the skateboarding program and I for the volunteer parent staff. I have so many things to say about this place and yet can't even think where to begin. Woodward has numerous programs: Skateboarding, BMX, Inline skating, scooter, snowboarding, gymnastics and cheer (and soon Mountain Biking). The facilities for each discipline are world class. The instructor are world class (and in many instances, literally, they are WORLD CLASS and rated so in the world). The staff and directors are so solid and concerned for the welfare and quality of programs for the kids. There is really nothing that I come away with that is negative. The kids that come into WW for the summer are given the opportunity to learn their sport but also they are given the chance to live within their own borders and decisions (they have no clue how many parental eyes are there keeping them safe). From the youngest campers (7) to the oldest (18). They come out at the end of the week better, not just as athletes but as humans. This past week, a young man (7) who's dad was also a parent volunteer, made the decision, by himself, to try out for the Mini-Mega ramp. The drop-ins for this ramp start at 25 feet and go up to 31. It is immense to me at 6'2". I cannot imagine what it looks like to a 3 foot tall, 7 year old. It was his decision on his own terms. He passed the test and was allowed to ride the biggest ramp in camp and possibly the east coast. The growth from that one choice is amazing. He was surrounded by positive people who gave him the freedom to choose and then given all the support necessary in a safe environment. This is where men and women are made. Not in the hovering of parents but in the ability to make a life choice and have the support of those around you (again, in a safe environment). This is only one of myriad stories. Woodward is special. It's our home-away from our home-away from home. My son lives for his week away and hopefully will be a Junior Counselor next year becoming part of the tradition of a storied and grand place where kids fly, independence is granted and celebrated, and lifelong friendships are made. I cannot say enough about this place. It's not perfect but perfection is overrated. My only complaint is that at some point my son will age out and I will not be able to go for my one week during the summer to see my WW family, skate poorly and enjoy the camp and the strange and wonderful town of Millheim PA. It will rank as one of the worst things that will ever happen to me. If you can send your kid, then you should. It will be one of the greatest times of their lives and they will talk about it forever. Once Woodward, always Woodward. Til next year I will continue to dream of shredding around the bowl and down the snake run. Only 358 days til we return.
