There is a small coffee shop at top of hill and plenty of walking to do. The petrin tower only appears to be open in the summer months so check out before you plan to go. This green island…read moreoasis in the middle of Vltava River offers a green, tree filled, serene, and natural break from urban jungles of Prague. Friday through Sundays are free concerts by local musicians. A smaller farmers market of wineries, breweries, and food purveyors setup to sell food and drink...a lovely way to spend the evening away from the mass crowds. The crowd seemed to be mostly locals! You might see some local swans...but most importantly in the afternoons you'll see the invasive but ridiculously cute species of Nutria roaming around the waters. They look like small capybaras or beavers...so adorable! Technically they are disease carrying rodents and the city government discourages feeding them, but some locals fed them apples and leaves. There are dozens of benches spaced throughout to sit and enjoy the view. A great ropes course style playground for older kids. They even have a small sand beach at the end of the island, but it would be a bit gross to take a dip in the river. They installed an elevator to get prams and wheelchairs onto the island. There is a full sit down restaurant and a small barge serving beer and snacks.
