Price increases for a gel manicure are ridiculous! I just cancelled my appointment and will be going to another salon. 4/15/21 $25 5/5/21 $30 5/18/21 $35 read more

First off don't let the reviews deter you from trying this salon. I have been coming to this salon for over 3 months since moving to town and haven't had one issue. They are absolutely fabulous! The prices are great too! I have walked in and made appointments and never have had to wait longer than 5 mins. Shout out to Kelly for always doing an amazing job on my small nails and feet. I highly recommend this salon to anyone. read more

I am here now waiting for a mani and pedi. I had an appointment scheduled for 5 PM, and I have been waiting for over 30 minutes. When I talked to the woman at the front desk about it, she didn't even apologize for my wait. So rude and inconsiderate. Why even schedule an appointment if you aren't going to honor it? read more

I went there last year for a pedicure. The pedicure was great but the woman doing my pedicure injured me by massaging way too hard on my legs. She actually caused a huge bruise. I wish there was someway I coils share the photo of that, but I can't figure out how. It was at least 4 inches around on the front of my leg. I told her she was hurting me and made her stop, but it was too late. I will never go back. read more

Took three hours of waiting I am so fucking flaming right now. Got my nails done and then I'm sitting in the chair for another 2 hour as my friend got hers ahead of me when we were supposed to be put together. Do not come to this place. They will make you sit there and take people ahead of you and this is not the first time they've done this they did this to me and my granddaughter at one time. read more

I must be a glutton for punishment. I've been back to this salon five times because I like the pedicures. The issue is they overbook. Not one person overbooked. They are 4 or 5 overbooked. I get it once, but every time? This is it. I will not come here again. I'm ok with a salon saying they are busy, can you come a hour later, not ok to have me show up at my appt. time and have me sit for an hour. Too bad. Simple thing to fix read more

Finally had time to get a pedicure here at tehachapi and it didn't disappoint. Very friendly staff and I couldn't be happier with the results. Decided to treat myself to a deluxe pedicure and I'm so happy. All staff wore mask and were very professional. I will definitely be returning here for my pedicures. read more

WOW I AM SO IMPRESSED!!! Thank you Mai! I came in from out of town (San Diego) where there are tons of great nail shops. But there are also tons of horrible nail shops. I have experienced both. From color and glue all over your fingers to making your cuticles bleed. This is why I am always nervous to go somewhere I don't know. I will say you are definitely SAFE HERE . They were pretty busy, but took me straight to a chair. For spa pedi and then full set. I was asked multiple times whether water temperature was good. They provided me with a complimentary water. Also did everything I requested. I upgraded to the deluxe pedi lasted an hour, and was well worth it. She took extra time. Nails were perfect. The length and shape I asked for just like picture?!?! Mai is Very kind. The whole shop was very attentive! You can tell they value their customers! Ask for Mai! She is my favorite ‼‼ *she even gives complimentary gifts! And Vietnamese coffee for my drive back to San Diego! read more

New to town and was looking for a new salon to get my acrylics off. Not sure of the girls name who did it but it was extremely painful and I don't think she even knew what she was doing. I left with a total hack job and multiple finger nails bleeding. She cut my nails way past where your finger nail line goes and left a bunch of little nail pieces hanging. Never will go back. read more

Today, was my first visit to U & I Nails. I have relocated from the Bay Area to Tehachapi. I looked at the different nail salons on Yelp. I liked the pictures of this place best, and seemed large, so a good place to social distance. When I walked in I was impressed by the size of the place and how clean it is kept up. I found it was 15 years old, but it looks new. Mai did my manicure and pedicure. I had the deluxe. It was like being transformed to a vacation destination. So very relaxing and enjoyable. My nails and feet look great. Mai is a delightful lady and enjoys her customers. U & I will be my new go to place, and I will bring friends and family! I was so pleased to have found such a nice place to be pampered a bit and truly relax. I understand they do facials and massages, so I will need to give it a try too. read more

Here I go again. Was going to try this place one more time and once again disappointed. Called a Monday and Made appointment for pedicure on that Wednesday. Walked in a few minutes early to appointment however no one acknowledged me. One employee looked directly at me then continued working. Three other customers walked in 5 minutes later and somehow they addressed her and that she had appointment for (3). Mind you with me that would be 4 appointments at same time yet only 3 were working. After sitting for 30 min I walked out. What the hell! Ended up calling another place in town and she was able to get me in right away. Guess that's my new place to go! I highly recommend if going to This company- take a chill pill before to keep you calm! read more

I went to this place twice. The first time I got a gel mani and it was decent, however; the second time was just terrible. I usually get my nails done in LA but decided to get a fill here. I was helped by a man named Tom. My nail polish is so uneven. You can tell there's bumps of nails polish on almost every nails. There's a bubble on one of my nails. The nail polish is a mess. It went over my cuticles and sides not to mention he didn't touch my cuticles so they look like a mess on top of the polish. The nail polish cracked on one of my nails already and I just got them done yesterday! The worst thing about all this are the painful hangnails he left when he shaped/drilled the side of my nails. I tried fixing them by pushing back my cuticles and trimming the hang nails but I am so unhappy that I was charged $25 for this. I even tipped an extra $5. Not to mention how rude he was. He kept pulling on my hand too harsh then a client of his came in with a broken nail and he fixed her nail literally on top of me. It didn't bother me that he took the time to fix her nail. It bothered me that he didn't even have the courtesy to ask if it was okay and step aside to help her. read more

If I could give a no star I would never will I come waist my money & time at this place ! Came yesterday for an appointment I had didn't get help till 30 mins later ! Just to tell me can you come tomorrow! Like I had an appointment & I came back today for them to have me waiting an hour from my appointment again at 10:30 To help out 2 other elder ladies ! This was my two daughters and my first pedicure since COVID started. It was not what we were expecting. The 4 star review is strictly for the owner Mai, not for our experience. She heard about our visit and went above and beyond to rectify it. Thank you Mai. read more

You might be waiting for a while any where between 30- 45 minutes, but the results are very nice for a small town place.

I'm from out of town and did a walk in. Told them I needed a pedicure and a full set. They said ok. The lady rushed my pedicure and did a sloppy job. Even messed up one of my toes and had to redo it. Didn't even get a good cleaning and a massage. The pedicure lasted no more than 15 mins. After my pedicure they lady was rushing me to get off the chair when she had just literally finished painting my nails not 1 minute ago. She wrote me a bill for the pedicure. I said but I need a full set also. Another lady turns around and said full sets are by appointment only. Well they could've told me that from the beginning so I didn't have to waste my time. $30 for a sloppy pedicure and poor service. Never ever in my life going back to this dump. Lied that they could provide the service just to make a few extra bucks. Shame on you! What kind of nail salon only has 1 tech that can do acrylics??? Also I saw the lady do one pedicure for a lady and they wheeled her cart onto the next without sanitizing the tools! The foot tub were also disgusting and moldy and they didn't use any protective liners. read more

This man is TERRIBLE! Very sweet Megan was doing my pedicure, she let the man know BEFORE HAND that she couldn't do the design I requested and asked if he would and he said yes. When it came time he refused to do my design, loudly for everyone to hear, Megan couldn't do it because she didn't have the brushes and I was willing to wait for him to get through with his current customer but he still refused. What an ASS. Then they proceeded to yell at Megan "your clients are waiting!" Well aren't I a client as well? So now I'm waiting for someone to do this design. Wow how pathetic. Megan is WONDERFUL! And you can understand her. These others are terrible and they treat her like crap. Not fair. She seems to have the most clients as well. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. WILL NOT BE COMING BACK. Will only request Megan in the future, but I won't come to this place. Poor business. read more

Went in and got a mani and pedi from then the other day. When I asked if they had a menu of all the pedis they then turned around and told me we don't have that. So I had no clue what kind of pedi I was getting. Part of a pedi is a massage which I didn't even get. I got gel on my my toes and fingers and it was lumpy and bumpy. The massage chair sucked as it was more painful than anything. The environment was ok could have used more cleaning. Also she used to email clippers and cleaning tools that weren't sealed or cleaned after every use. All places I've been to have them individually sealed for each person not communal for everybody. I personally feel I got over charged 90 dollars for gel mani and pedi. Not worth it and never again. CLEANLINESS ISN'T IMPORTANT TO THEM! So don't risk it! read more

Peaceful atmosphere, talented nail techs and an owner (Miss Mai) that truly cares for her clients.

I seriously love this nail salon! The owner is absolutely amazing and so kind. They always do a fabulous job!

First & LAST visit. Unfortunately, like Wendy (earlier reviewer) Tom did my nails. He did the same bad job as he did for her... so I guess he is CONSISTENTLY bad! I got a full set (acrylics) and I also had thick tips with thinner, indented centers. The polish was unevenly applied - fine in some areas, but almost transparent on a few sides. My right thumb was splotchy; it looked like someone brushed oil on it and it dried that way. Almost EVERY nail has a bad application or looks misshaped. I could have complained - but I was anxious to leave and didn't notice how bad they were till I was out the door. It's a shame... I love the color; but my nails are so jacked up I will have to half hide them until I can get them redone elsewhere. I should add - don't feel bad for coming down hard on this guy - he didn't even MAKE an effort to be pleasant. He frowned the whole time and was one of those who just PUSHED or PULLED your hand where he wanted it... like he was annoyed about something. I felt pretty uncomfortable. I see the owner keeps apologizing for all of the bad reviews... but this guy is still on the loose - so those apologies are empty. Bottom line... if you're feeling lucky and you want to make an appointment (you should because I bet Tom gets all the walk-ins) just ask for "ANYONE but Tom". read more

I got a full set done and within 4 days they started coming off. The set was done with very cheap material they were flimsy. The man that was doing them left from my session atleast 7 items to take care of other customers needs so it took awhile longer than normal. I paid $32 for my set and was hoping they lasted till Christmas. :( I have paid $25 a set that lasted 3 weeks at other establishments!!! read more

We went in on a Saturday morning for a gel mani/pedi for me, a gel pedicure for my teen and a gel polish for my 8 yr old. All the staff was so nice and even though they were really busy with appointments and walk ins, the wait was minimal and it never felt rushed. This was my first time here and I'm really glad I made the decision to come here since Tehachapi does not have many options for nails on a Saturday. read more

My nails turned out beautiful, by Jordan. I love his nail technique. He's done a great job. When I was sent to Mai she was trying to do design and couldn't figure it out so I decided not to do a design because she seemed very rushed with it and was kinda scattered all over the place and kept leaving when I was sitting and waiting for my nails to be finished. I'm not really happy with the fact that I was sitting there and no one could figure out a good design for fall for my nails. I kept looking at inspiration for my nails and they didn't know how to do it. I paid $45 for a full set. I was also pretty upset when I left I had dry cuticles with no cuticle oil put on them after they did my nails, no hand/arm message like they usually do after as well. I also had dryed on nail glue that I had to peel off on my skin. They did an okay job. Just not pleased with some of the things I experienced. read more

I'd give zero stars if it would let me for this experience. I go in to get a new full set of acrylics. I had an appointment today and arrived on time. When the lady who schedules asked for my name she told me sit over there with an attitude, yet when her regular came in after me she was all nice and happy. So I pick my nail polish color and sit in the chair to get my nails done. A male comes over and tells me to pick a color out of this book, I told him no thank you I have a nail polish color picked I want to use. He then says no pick from here, those are bad and only last 2 days. I said no I'd like the polish and he argued and became condescending so I stayed quiet. He then glued the tips on and 2 were crooked so I asked him to fix them before he put the acrylic over. He then very rudely told me no that he's the professional and they were straight it's my nails. I let him know I usually see the younger girl who is currently on vacation and never had these issues. He then rudely told me maybe I should've just waited a month to see her, even though I needed my nails done for an event this weekend. He proceeded through the process and I just stayed quiet. He ended up cutting my nail bed on a finger as he aggressively filed it. At the end when he went to paint my nails with regular polish he had an attitude and negative demeanor. Unfortunately I could not see anyone else and he was so horrible I will not be going back. This set was definitely over priced for the quality. Next time I will go out of town for better service and a nicer set. I would highly recommend NOT to go here. When a client is paying for a service you should be accommodating and respectful not rude and condescending. read more

This place is in a little strip mall. It's surrounded by a restaurant, a liquor store, something else, something else, and there's a Taco Bell. The parking is pretty ample and the center is upkeep. Okay, enough of that. Here's the real deal truth: Have you ever moved to a small town and had to find all new people. You know what I mean. I need a new hair person (still looking), I needed a new brow person (found her), and I needed a new nail person (keep reading). Well, I am happy to announce, that I have found my nail individual (nail lady sounds too gauche). MAI is the best. We talked, we laughed, we commiserated at the state of my nails (bad story, too traumatic to Yelp about), and at the end we hugged and whispered promises about our next meeting. MAI's work is flawless. She fixed a nasty situation and was very professional about it. She was quick (thank GOD!) which isn't always a good thing, but in this case (quick+flawless= Thank God!) I don't have time for 2 hour fills. Tell me who time for that?! It's been 2 weeks since she fixed the train wreck that was my full set and they are still going strong. I have had no chips, breaks, or lifting. Please, do yourself a favor. I realize that there are some grouchy people that may work at this establishment. But, we all have bad days. I realize that some people aren't happy with stuff right away, I get it. But, MAI does everything in her power to make you happy and make sure that your experience is a good one. She does this for everyone, even people who are not in her chair. She is a caring, skilled, and amazing woman who happens to be great at nails. Go see her. read more

After moving into the area permanently, I needed a new nail salon. My former salon had my loyalty for 18 years. I tried one business up here twice. I was not impressed. I had a pedicure and are you ready for this ? The technician PRETENDED she was cutting some of my toe nails . I was watching her didn't hear the snip . I thought no that can't be . I checked when I got home 3/4 of my toe nails hadn't been cut ! And she completely did a lady's manicure while in the middle of my pedicure ! I wasn't in a hurry that day so I didn't say anything . There was a tech Sandy that was great and one day just disappeared. Sandy told me she lived close by . They said she was driving from Bakersfield so quit . A lot of dishonesty there . I'm not going back . I'm just wondering what's so hard about clipping a few toenails. ? I'm older than dirt and a pedicure is an extra expense and necessity I allow myself . That tech should be ashamed of herself !! I gave a one because of the dishonesty . read more

DONT GO HERE. Don't waste your time and money! This place is awful. I went in for a simple black acrylic manicure two days ago. Not only did the lady (who says is the owner of the place) cut me, got acrylic on my finger (still peeling some off) when i got home i used nail polish remover my self to get rid of the black paint she left around my nails. I asked for coffin shape and she gave me just straigh square. That's not the worst part after a few hours of being done my nails started getting bubbles and popping (with fresh paint so it was so messy!) i went back the next day for them to fix it (which they did) but mow...four hours later they started bubbling and popping. Not going there for them to fix it rather pay someone else to replace redo their mistakes. Plus the price was average you can definetly find MUCH better quality for the same prices read more

I made an appointment. I was taken right in on my appointment time. Staff was very friendly and professional. I will return.

I am not familiar with Tehachapi but this place....I would skip if you're planning on getting your nails done. The people here were very friendly and got me in right away, however that does not make up for the actual gel nail service that I had received. The nail tech rushed and didn't even cover my phone nail with polish. I asked for a gel manicure and it was very sloppily done, you should not have to go home and file the excess gel on your cuticles and sides of fingers when you leave the salon. I will not be returning back here. read more
