If I could do zero stars I would. I called to see what time they closed and I was told to come straight in and they would take care of me. I went in for a pedi and full set manicure. My pedicure was extremely rushed. I wasn't offered the list to choose from and I was only in the chair for 7 minutes. Then the lady that did my manicure was awful!!! I asked for a ombré set. She piled on so much powder, she was extremely rough, and was rushing. When I pointing out some problems with the nails she told me it oils be fine that she would file it down. My nails looked the worst I have ever seen! They were closed and ready to leave. It was $65 for both services. I went back first thing the next morning to have them fixed. She acted completely annoyed and blamed the powder for it looking like that. She said that's how the powder looks and there's nothing she can do. Her tone was rude and not once did she apologize for the way the turned out. I asked for a refund since it was not to my liking and they weren't going to be able to do what I what. She denied me the refund and said she would fix them. I was in a wedding the next day and needed them to be fixed. She fixed them by doing just a basic French tip. The day before i was told the French tip was $10 cheaper than the ombré set. I did not get the difference in price either. She then blamed the wideness of my finger nails for the way my nails looked. My nails aren't wide. Two days after she "fixes" them and the corners are lifting. The nails aren't even throughout and the bottoms don't line up with the shape of my nails. I will never go again and I have been getting pedicures from here for the past 3 summers. read more

U & I Nails is a very busy nail & hair salon located across from Taco Bell at Tucker & Valley. It is a large facility with many "stations" and pedicure chairs. They even have several children's pedicure chairs so you can make appointments for several family members at the same time. You can walk in, but on Friday or Saturday I would call for an appointment. Megan does a nice pedicure & gel nails and Katie is my favorite hairdresser! I love that the prices are very reasonable. read more

I was visiting my Dad in Tehachapi several weeks ago for our annual Mountain Festival/Rodeo shenanigans. I was in desperate need of a pedicure! Super last minute. I called U & I and asked them if they could squeeze me in for a pedicure... she said they didn't have anyone waiting so to come in "now". I arrived 5 minutes later and was greeted immediately! Very friendly people, and the owner is just the sweetest! I think her name is Mai? I feel bad because I cannot remember the girls name that did my pedicure, but she did a FANTASTIC job! I mean, like one of the best pedicures I've ever had in my life, ever. I got the deluxe pedicure for $35... $40 with tip. That EXACT same pedicure at my regular nail salon costs $50! My feet were soft for 3 weeks and the nail polish stayed put as well. I highly reccommend this place. I know that I will be returning to Tehachapi in October for the Apple Festival at which time I will be getting another pedicure! read more

I have been getting my nails done at U & I Nails with Mai, the owner, for almost 6 years now. I come in every two weeks. I got a new full set done by one of the younger ladies that work there. It was such a cheap nail job. She seemed annoyed and in a hurry. The nails barley fit correctly. Also the nails already started falling off a week later. However, Victoria does eyebrow waxing very well. I would highly recommend her. I got my eyebrows done once by one of the other ladies and they gave two dramatically different sized eyebrows. It was awfully shaped too. I am from out of town visiting my sister and mom. I decided to take my 16 yr old niece for a mani pedi nothing special just regular manicure and regular pedi with ( and I will gladly pay for the callus remover $5) Soooo I get TOM I politely introduced myself and let him know I was a visitor. I ask his name TOM HE SAID LOUDLY. He reached for the massage chair device. I said I don't want it on thank you. He turned it on any ways I turned it off. I ask for just callus remover he said no you want Deluxe pedi. I said no I don't I don't care for anything else I will gladly pay, the lady next to him working said $5 he said no $10, I said which is it laughing she said $5 he was pissed. CUT TO THE CHASE He went and got some blue scrub, I asked is that the callus remover he said it's better. I said I asked for callus remover he got up went and got the callus remover put it on left it for one minute scrub for 2 and wiped it off. He also kept hitting my feet as If to say without saying , put in the water. He did my mani, not great very quick. He left me sitting there got up and walked away. So I picked up my handbag and my drink and. Walked over to the drying station. NEVER THANKED ME NEVER HELPED ME NEVER SPOKE TO ME ONLY TO CALL ME HEIDI ( not Cathy) as he slapped the bill on the table. I got up a few minutes later and the girl helping my niece asked if I wanted to pay I said not now and asked her to help me move my pant legs down. She asked if I was ok I said no I told her my issue she said sorry blah blah blah I paid in cash left him nothing no tip her 8 bucks for my niece, I could hear him yelling at her for the tip money! My daughter recommended that I go here as she would not go to any other nail salon. Once I went I was hooked. All of the people that work there are professional and give great customer service. I personally always ask for Mya as I have gotten to know her and we always have a nice conversation. I would and have recommended this salon to friends and will only get my nails done here. This was a very bad experience. I went in for a pedicure and after it was done I waited about 40 minutes under the light and then another 30 minutes after I went home and I had to go somewhere so I slipped my shoes on and after I took my shoes off it ruined my polish. They weren't very informative either. That was my first pedicure and they left me sitting at the light without telling me when I could leave. So I highly recommend you do not go here. read more

If your looking for a basic pedicure I think they have a great price at $18. Unfortunately I have very dry feet who need some extra tlc, they did very little scrubbing so after a week it already felt like I needed another pedicure. I wish they had more then one choice for a pedicure. read more

I asked the guy if he could put more white because it was almost transparent he said " oh no oh no it's better like this" . I used to go there, but the last time I went they put so much polish on it would never dry, I scuffed it up after about an hour because it was still so thick it would never dry, I went back in for them to fix and it the lady was very rough and just about yelled at me, telling me it was my fault for not letting it dry, I told her it had been over an hour. Also she didn't cover my whole nail with the nail polish. The lady that worked there was very rude when we paid her. She was throwing the pen and the paper. Terrible experience. Called shortly after 5 to ask what time they closed. The woman who answered replied that they closed at 6 but to come in right away if I wanted to get a service. I explained that I would like a full set and would head that way. I arrived, and the woman confirmed that I was the person who had just called. She started on my nails by doing a horrible job of removing my polish. She then began to use the roughest drill I've ever felt to smooth my nail bed. It hurt so badly I had to ask her to stop. The skin underneath my nails was throbbing at this point. As she replaced the swirl head, she said she didn't have anything else softer. I asked her about the head that she JUST PUT ON. She said it wasn't any softer and I requested that she try....and guess what? It was a complete 180 in strength, and was much softer. She took out the plastic box of compartmentalized white tips, and I asked her to please finish removing the polish still on my nails before she put the tips on. She looked at me in frustration and-I kid you not- asked for me to come back tomorrow because it was close to 6 and she "had a headache". I obliged, because at this point I was already committed to going to a different nail shop. Here's a tip: Don't waste someone's time and invite them in for a service if you're going to rush through it and do a crap job, and then top it off by feigning a headache because you're too lazy to complete the job. Bonus for me, it most likely would've been an awful job anyway, so I probably lucked out. read more

OMG, finally a great nail salon in Tehachapi! We'd stopped going here several years ago due to a problem with prior management but went back due to new ownership and positive feedback. Very nice clean decorated store, ultra friendly staff, most speak English (very little "chatter" in the background), and Mai, the owner, always makes sure you're happy.
