So I'm surprised this place got 5 stars on yelp. Then I figured the newest review is 2 years ago so maybe things changed. I agree the view is beautiful and we went there around sunset it was lovely. Food presentation is nice. My juice cane with a lolypop and kids menus come stapled in a popcorn bag pretty creative must say. But here is one thing, be aware of the menu is online and guess what? English is different than French! Yep! Husband ordered an Arctic char risotto from the English menu, apparently in French it's lobster risotto! I ordered a spinach avocado salad, looks like in French menu there is no avocado! To be honest I find this so misleading and in times of google translate it's very easy to get the correct translation... service she was nice to begin with then when all this mess happened she wasn't nice . My salad had chicken I'd expect grilled or something but it came a chicken leg yes on top of my salad and was soooo salty! Anyways we left unsatisfied ! read more

We ate here after a full day of riding snowmobile. Beautiful restaurant. Good tasting food, good music and sports on the tv. Service a little slow for dinner but breakfast was quick. Would definitely come back when in Gaspe. Hotel Baker read more

We were visiting Gaspé for two days and loved this place so much we returned the following day. Plusses: The food was excellent, mostly locally sourced, and reasonably priced. Window seating gave a nice view of the Baie. They offer lots of menu options and styles n there something there for everyone. Minuses: There's a long list of craft brews but only two white wines. Service was a bit slow. read more

Absolutely fabulous! A little pricey, but right in line with prices of restaurants in our area (New England). The tap selection is disappointing, for a craft beer aficionado - but the bottle selection is deep and varied- tons of good choices- although each is a Quebec-sized bottle. The fish and chips were perfection; I had some sort of creative burger with sausage, kimchi and beer mustard. All the sauces, breads, and mayonnaises are made in house, as noted on the menu. The ambiance is funky but also sports bar, high end restaurant and family restaurant - a curious mix that I think would make many many people happy. Ah yes, and for dessert I had the poor man's pudding with maple and bacon, served warm and melts in a syrup can with homemade vanilla ice cream- to die for! read more

My partner and I were guests at the Hôtel des Commandants/Baker in Gaspe, recently. I have delayed my Yelp Review to give Tetu's management an opportunity to respond. No response was forthcoming. Hence, my email to Tetu's management is copied below. We had the most unusual and annoying experience of dining in your Hôtel des Commandants/Baker restaurant - TETU - tonight (Sep.22/18). On reading the menu, my partner and I decided to dine in the restaurant; the following are my criticisms: 1. BAD: We arrived at the restaurant at about 6:00 pm, wanting to reserve a table for 7:00 pm. We were told by the hostess that no reservations would be taken after 6:00 pm. A most unusual and annoying restaurant policy in my experience. 2. GOOD: We decided to dine immediately and were shown to a window table. A most pleasant and helpful waitress started to take our orders. 3. BAD: I wanted to have the whelks (snails) appetiser and was told, the menu had changed and was not as publicized - the whelks were not available! 4. BAD: I then asked about the lobster appetizer and was told that it was out of season and not available; instead, shrimp/prawns could be substituted! Lobster is available all year round in my dining experience. 5. BAD: One paltry bread roll with a small butter pot was served for the two of us. When asked for another roll, we were told there would be an extra charge! How ridiculous is this!! I shall refrain from further commentary (in public media or otherwise) until I hear from you. Sincerely, Lok Lee PS: I forgot to mention another annoying dining experience: loud, pop, music. The clientele was a mix of family, young and old diners having a Saturday meal together. Conversation was a shouting match against the noisy music - I was not expecting a bar scene for a quiet evening meal. The food was passable but was certainly spoilt by the above experience. read more
