I enjoy unexpected finds. My friend and I were hanging out at Lakeview Park Beach for the first…read moretime. We were walking around and found Oshawa Museum. It's seamlessly integrated with the park, steps away from the beach. During the pandemic, the museum is closed. I'd love to come back and check out the museum itself. The roof over to the main entrance has a low clearance. I barely got in there without slouching. I'd guess that it's a six-foot clearance. If you're tall, take note or you'll bang your head on it easily. Although you can't go inside the museum, we did an outdoor, self-guided tour. It can be done. We had a great time figuring things out and learning together. There were plenty of signs and historical plaque to help us out. The Wilson family was Oshawa's first pioneers back in 1790. Captain Benjamin Wilson headed over to Oshawa with his family from Vermont. There is a blue spruce tree planted in their honour. We then came across Guy House. Named after James Odgers Guy, he immigrated with his parents from England to Canada. His parents owned a farm and ultimately bred ayrshires (cattle). James married and raised seven children, and settled at what we now know as Guy House. He built a coal dealership in Oshawa, and grain elevators in Brooklin and Myrtle. He also held a bunch of community positions. There's also Henry House. Named after Thomas Henry, he moved from Ireland to Canada with his wife and seven children back in 1811. They purchased a farm that is now Lakeview Park. He remarried after his first wife died of consumption. Thomas became an ordained minister. He build a stone house, which is still in Lakeview Park. There's a cool shed that makes up Oshawa Museum. Oshawa is known for its manufacturing history. The museum is nicely maintained. We spent some time admiring the sundial and buggy in Henry House's backyard. Pretty flowers were blooming everywhere. There was not a single dandelion is sight. Impressive! We had a great time exploring, reading, and learning. It was nice to do all of it on a warm summer evening. I hope to return and go into the houses when the museum reopens. (262)

I'm conflicted. Concessions, get the popcorn at the counter which I like. Butter, well let's say…read morethe option of butter is a couple of squirts on the top and see ya. Why can't you bake it into the price? I'm sure the take up is 90% or more is you did. And stop serving the diy stuff whatever it is. I have been twice to the avr theater which I guess is their version of imax. We tried the dbox seats found them super comfortable and super adjustable. For me they didn't agree with my back. Wife was just fine. HOWEVER the sound was way too loud to the point a couple of times I'm plugging my ears. Sound volume does not make things sound better or clearer. Someone definitely needs to balance and tune the sound in this theatre. Want some reference? Go to landmark imax in Whitby. Sound done right

Been to this theatre many times. Hasn't changed much since it opened. They have an arcade to kill…read moresome time, before/after the show. There's the 3D and reserved seating options. They have the usual suspects for snacks, like overly expensive popcorn, hotdogs, nachos, candy, pop and frozen yogurt. The place was pretty clean considering it was a Saturday night. Some of the garbages were full, but the floors and bathrooms were good. If you get reserved seating, sit down slowly....The reserved seats lean back and you almost fall over if you sit down too quickly! it's funny, but be careful!

A lovely drive to this spacious and well organised orchard…read more Pros: - many apple varieties, big juicy sweet apples. - more honey crisp (my favourite) rows than most gta apple farms. - picking types posted online, paper slip given on arrival to know where to pick - rows of apples well marked for type or not ready yet - 4 complimentary sample flight range from alcoholic to non - cute baked goods & jarred shop of treats - 2 flushing washroom , 2 outdoor potty with washing sink - small kids play area - small area to enjoy your treats. - plenty parking in field(drive directly in & park right side of picking row or open field) - most except one staff all very friendly and easy going Cons: One grumpy female senior that works there mans the orchard exit. She left the worst note to our trip. We declared and opened the trunk to show one bag of apples were picked $45 pre paid at entrance. She demanded she organise the bag as it spilled in trunk in our laundry basket and claimed we had 2-3 more apples over the limit. I asked calmly if she wanted to take them out, and she snarked she'll let us have them. To be clear, our bag wasn't even close to brimming like most others. She also pulled this to the cars in front of us. Our friends being there a week previously said another staff was much nicer but they've encountered this old timer and got the same treatment Despite the crusty senior, this place is worth the drive to. No fighting crowds for tractor rides to the picking fields, or searching for a variety that's over picked. Prices are per car/bag $45 for 20 lbs of apples, another bag is $45 that is prepaid at entrance. Entrance off the single lane dirt road is a bit sudden, no warning signs the orchard is coming.

Unfortunately I didn't like the wine I tried. But I do like the idea of a winery in this area…read more Maybe i picked the wrong type of wine and I'm super willing to come and try again !
