It is nicely located by the seaside and although it is not the most upmarket of venues, this tends to be reflected in the ticket prices which makes it a lot more affordable than other theatres in the area. I have only been to a couple of performances but it is a more intimate venue you so get a great view from wherever you are sitting/standing! I guess this is the upside of seeing performances at smaller venues. Obviously there are no big name performers - more like local drama groups and singers - but I have thoroughly enjoyed everything that I have seen there. It is well worth seeing what is on if you are staying in the area.

Overall a descent place to go for a low key night out, lots of events happening throughout the months. Definitely one to check out if you're in the area.

The seating facilities are also quite cramped. The ticket prices for the cinema are quite cheap though so it's good for entertaining kids in the holidays. They also hold smaller performances such as variety shows featuring dance troupes from around the South Tyneside borough, along with local comedians and some singing acts. Last year their Christmas pantomime was particularly popular. It featured ex-Scooch band member and Eurovision star David Ducasse. They also have a website so you can see what is currently being shown and you can request a brochure which outlines all the upcoming shows. It is: http://www.customshouse.co.uk/
