After watching the ferry depart the harbour for Amsterdam we went to this place. The welcome was friendly, the service prompt and payment taken by a contraption. We sat out back with beers to catch the rare sunrays but it was off putting for us to be surrounded by smokers and ashtrays full with cigarette buts. The beer was good and the prices were fair. We sat with folks with a lovely dog and they were able to buy 'dog sausages' from the bar and the lucky pooch consumed the treat in a few seconds. It's lovely to see so many dog friendly places but smokers are a bit off putting.

Told only one authorisation number for both transactions meant I had to contact credit card co . Credit card co surprise surprise supplied both authorisation number after a two hour call . Called back yet again to be told nope we still can't refund you ?? So I'm forced to make a claim through credit card .

I have only been in a couple of times for a drink, but there is generally a nice class of people rather than drunken rowdys that you find in some of South Shields pubs and clubs! After the game the pub showed the Newcastle Utd v Everton game, the game finished 2-2, it was full of die hard/passionate Newcastle Utd fans, but the people in the pub were brilliant! The staff were very friendly, the beer was at a nice price & good quality, there were bar snacks on offer and the pub laid out a small free buffet for customers watching the football. I really enjoyed my experience of visiting the pub and there's a great chance of visiting the pub after future running events in the area!
