Yes, yes, yes, yes! Blast is an awesome fitness studio! So glad I stumbled upon this studio,…read morebecause your girl is in need of some great motivation to lose weight. I purchased the first timer promo, $36 for 3 classes, and went to my first class on Tuesday after work, and let's just say Josè is an awesome instructor! Being that it was my first time at a Blast studio, Josè showed me around, and gave me a brief rundown on how the class will be ran, so I knew what to expect. He made me feel welcomed and answered any questions I had. He also let me know the studio validates parking, in the parking deck, so I don't need to worry about paying for parking! The gym is really clean and nicely put together. There are also free lockers so you can stow your goodies away, while you burn fat! Now on to the workout. So I've never worked out for a straight 60 minutes (hence why I'm out of shape hehe), but Josè was so fun and energetic, time flew by and I didn't even realize I went the entire class without stopping! We did so many fun workouts on the treadmill and the floor. I have an semi-athletic background, so many of the exercises we did, weren't too intimidating but they were definitely challenging! I worked up a pretty nice sweat, and a few times I wanted to yell at Josè for making us work soo hard, lol but I am so glad he kept pushing us, because I know I needed it. I'll be going back to more classes at Blast, especially when Josè is there! Excellent gym and staff, and I will be back. Side note: if you're looking for a COVID-19 friendly space to work out, this studio isn't for you. No one wore masks during the exercise, and the studio where classes are held is really small, so no social distancing. Ventilation was really good though, so it didn't feel like I was breathing old air. To public: if you are coming to workout in a public place, please make sure your hygiene is up to par. Wear deodorant at the minimum, because it's just rude to others to have to smell your funk while working out. Just saying.

The studio is located in midtown next to Kale Me Crazy and parking is validated if you park in the garage. The staff is helpful for new students and showed us the studio space as well as explained expectations for the class (what they will call out, what it means, what the assistant does during class, etc). I liked the fast pace workout and the energy of the instructor. At the end of the class I felt like I had a great workout that worked all parts of my body (arms, legs, abs). I love that the attentiveness of the staff in helping students refill water during class. They also keep the shower and bathroom clean and stocked with gym essentials (shampoo, hair dryer, lotion, bag for wet cloths). The only downside is that the space is quite small so that at the beginning and end of class it can be a little crowded in the hallways.

As an olympic lifter, it is hard to find gyms within the perimeter (outside CrossFits) that allow you to olympic lift or drop the bar. Not only is it great for Olympic lifting, but they have a wide range of equipment from powerlifting to strongman to a ceiling rope to a rower to dumbbells, etc. Great atmosphere of people who just love to be strong. In addition, Citadel Nutrition's line of supplements is ON POINT. I've never seen a supplement company with such minimal ingredient lists. Their Tier 1 pre-workout leaves me feeling energized but not jittery, and never feels like I just dosed myself with chemicals. Clean burn. I love that they have a powdered vitamin that I can mix in to shakes and whatnot instead of taking pills, and their fish oils are super high quality (no fishy burps!). The quality of their products is matched only to the quality of their gym space. The guys over at CN are genuine about their love of fitness and it shows.

Hunter has always communicated with me over the years and although I've never committed to Crossfit 404 he's always been there regardless to answer any questions I may have. The only reason we choose to become members of our current Box over 404 is because over a year ago when we were looking at the best fit for us was because at 404 there was only a 7am & 12pm class that we were interested in. NOW, 404 has a 8am & still has the 12pm which has made it super appealing! Crossfit 404 is nestled conveniently smack dead center of Buckhead and super convenient! We like that we can jump into this location without allowing our head to play games on us because of our current location we are members at being so far away with the Atlanta traffic! The inside of the gym is very clean and equipment is labeled with no confusion as to where it goes! They have coffee, shakes, food, sitting area, phone charging decks and they are pet friendly! I'm posting a pic of the WOD we partook in and also what my calories burned being 1,080 were. Insane! We did have to run in the rain this day and also had to do rope climbs which we have hardly ever practiced. My shoes were wet so I had to chalk up to keep from face planting the ground from the slip and slide. Coming into 2018 we have some major considerations as to if we are going to make this our home. We love it here and can't wait to be back!

I do really love this gym and feel that it has grown into quite a home. I have been fortunate to…read morenot had too many bad CrossFit box experiences across the various places I've lived, but 404 is special and I'm happy to be part of the community. Onboarding was super easy, Hunter set me up with a week's trial period to test out if I liked it and everything was smooth sailing from there. The insides: The gym is clean, maintained, and conveniently located with lots of parking in the back. The equipment is practically never broken and the community is good about cleaning up after itself and keeping it neat looking. The programming: There's a ton of variety at this gym, seven regular CrossFit class time options during the week, three on Saturday and a Sunday WOD; an option for 'misfits', for those who are not looking to engage in as intense a program as CrossFit, two sessions of foundations classes, two weekly 'endurance' classes, and a kids program. Bring a friend one of three times a week to the basic classes and get them started. The skills-build rotates in series, meaning, that there will be a focus of building two particular movements slowly to a one rep max over the course of about a month to six weeks. The two movements are complimentary in muscle groups and then complemented with gymnastics movements such as pull-ups, handstand pushups, muscle-ups and double-under rope jumps, etc. The cycle rotate upper body strength with lower body strength so a member doesn't experience the same movement focus on an on-going basis. Lastly, 404 conducts skills workshops periodically and a barbell class every Saturday at 8am to work on specific skills, which I think is awesome. The trainers: All trainers are very knowledgeable at 404, making sure to go over the correct way to perform a movement to stretching and 'afterparty' recovery movements to keep you healthy and from hurting yourself. If you do hurt yourself, they help to ice you down and walk it off if need be. I personally have been hurting myself a whole lot more as I gain in age and stupidly now cannot gauge well what I can (and mostly cannot do anymore - when your mind tells you that you're done with deadlift - do NOT try to pick up 200+ lbs again). The member ages range from early twenty into the fifties and the trainers accommodate and adjust across any skill set. The community engagement: The members at this gym care about getting involved and giving back. Throughout the year 404 will engage in community events: volunteering events at soup kitchens, fundraisers for various causes, social media give-away contests, and holiday WOD and some parties (bowling and boating anyone?). Additionally, the gym is dog friendly, so bring your four legged friends along.

It was a Saturday so the workout was a four partner workout which was pretty fun, I had never done more than a group of 3 so that was cool. The space is huge as I mentioned, clean, and has everything you need plus some extra perks like a peg board. I accidentally left my knee sleeves there too and Harbor was nice enough to mail them back to me which was great. The equipment and community they provide is like none other in Atlanta, and if you have $70-80 a month to invest in yourself, and your lifting community, then this is the place for it. Unfortunately, they areeee a bit strict about cancellations. I won't dock that from them in stars, because it has absolutely nothing to do with what it is here for. Just know, I got diagnosed with an internal organ disease recently, and they didn't budge on the cancellation. So if any health/life or death scenarios come up where you can't lift for a good amount of time due to swollen, ruptured, or diseased parts come up, you're still liable for your end of the deal. Which is fair! It's all in their contract. I just would expect some humanity a little, but a small business honestly can't equate that into their bottom line. I get it. All in all, it's an honest, WAY above average, community powerlifting gym that expects more than you expect out of yourself. THAT is the way you manage a gym, and that is what I love about it. Thank you for your time again Donnie and Lana. Y'all are above average gym owners, and you always, from what I've seen, put your actions where your mouth is. All luck going forward!

The manager at my other gym mentioned that they were opening this one up here in downtown Lawrenceville. Planet fitness for the longest time has gotten a rep for not quite measuring up to the gym experience of other well-known popular gyms. Well I'm here to tell you as a person that's worked out at several gyms in my life. I am loving the investment that the group that owns these particular franchises have made in a better consumer experience. Every time I step into the gym it's extremely clean and because it's so new I never have any problems getting to a machine. Anytime my family and I come in for a workout. What I love most is that this location is one of only a few that actually have turf that is going to be installed for any individuals that like to do push-pull workouts like I do To buy a black card membership is an absolute steal if you can get it for $20 a month which they had a promotion for presale that I was able to catch. And I'm extremely happy that this location is here. Of course they have all of the normal planet fitness amenities such as the Black card, spa, showers, lockers. The closest gym in the area that is similar to this one is crunch fitness and I like this gym a lot better because fortunately crunch fitness and LA fitness which are both in the vicinity are often crowded with 20-year-olds and their need to film their entire workout on a selfie stick, which I've almost tripped over a few times.
