HOMEMADE EVERYTHING! The bread is so freaking fantastic! Just give me a loaf and then toast some, leave some moist and melty in your mouth, just give me the dough at this point! Nowhere can you find these Texas sized pieces that will change your life! This comes from a family recipe.... fresh, fresh, fresh! Do I say this was the most amazing bread ever??? Soups, not out of a can, made with love! Hamburger patties, you can watch them make them by hand (NOT frozen)! The mousetowner is the Mack daddy of breakfast plates... meat=good, eggs= good, home fries (hand cut) = hello not out of a bag (ME is known for potatoes). Beans.... and toast.... HOMEMADE. You have to be from Maine to understand! COOKIES, PIES, and CAKES, oh my! The lemon and raspberry filled cookies are the best thing in the whole wide world (now if you could incorporate those cookies and the bread, I'd weigh 800lbs, but I would be so happy)!!!!! This little restaurant is located in the North Maine woods, Allagash, Maine. This used to be a tiny hot dog stand that has grown into a wonderful family restaurant. When I say family , I mean it's a total "Cheers" moment. Everyone knows your name! There is a little counter when you first enter(the next entrance over is for the bunkhouse for the hunters and others that stay in this amazing place). The first table to your left you will find the owners or the locals , make friends and listen to all of the tales they will tell. This kind of communication is lost on today's society, so it's nice to unplug and unwind. They do have WiFi, as cellular service is not available in this area of the woods. This awesome piece of paradise is known to the locals, as well as the hunters, snowmobilers, loggers, and anyone else that ventures out into the beautiful wilderness. This place is adorned with mounts from hunts that the family has collected from their experiences in the woods. There are pictures all over that just take you to a piece of history and reminiscence. Take a ton of photos, you will want to show all of your friends! The family also owns a guide service (Tylor Kellys Camps Allagash Maine on Facebook). This outfit is amazing! Review on their page coming! They are mainly open for breakfast and lunch. The coffee is always on and the friendly smiles you encounter are FREE! This restaurant is also home to the Can-Am stop (dogsled races). What an up-close and personal experience with the dogs and the mushers. Do yourself a favor and get here quick! You will NOT regret this experience!

This is the spot for baked goods in this area. It has variety and a lovely view of the river. I…read morehad a unique pear pie which has a similar filling to an almond croissant. Croissants were decent. Coffee amazing. So much so, I bought a bag to go. I only been here for lunch and afternoon coffee break, but they also have sandwiches and pizzas. What won me over, as with most of Quebec, is the civilized manner of running business. Never too busy to answer a question and when I forgot my coffee grounds, it was set aside and waiting for me the following morning.

We stopped by Pains d'Exclamation to pick out some bakery items for our long drive home. Having…read morestuffed myself with croissant from all the top-rated bakery in downtown Quebec-city a week earlier, I really wasn't expecting anything comparable from a tiny local bakery in La Malbaie. Well let's just say I was pleasantly surprised... My eyes popped open when I took my first bite into their croissant. It was so incredibly flaky throughout and the outer crust near the edges were delightfully crispy. I would say in terms of flakiness/crispiness, it's as good if not better than the croissants at Le Croquembouche and Paillard in QC. It's not quite as airy as the other two places I mentioned, but it's still in the top-3 of my favorite croissant places in QC (or anywhere for that matter). We also had the strawberry brioche, which was also very good. It wasn't too sweet which I liked, but by the time we ate it, the fruit had leaked into the bread making it a little soggy. Still delicious and eating that fresh would have been amazing. The two bakery items we tried were fantastic, however, I felt the service could have been better. We got a little attitude when we were ordering because we had a difficult time deciding what to get and felt we were rushed. Could have been the language barrier, but I think she could have been more patient. Regardless, putting up with a little attitude from auntie is a small price to pay for tasting their delightful baked goods. Would definitely recommend stopping by if you are in the area!

Cute little place near the edge of town. Lots of tables a bit of a draft so I needed to keep my…read morejacket over my shoulder to keep warm. Our waitress was knowledgeable and give us some good ideas. Water was good and so the selections were mostly typical. As you know, I don't drink they had a large variety of IPAs beers, other alcoholic beverages. They also have mocktails. He did an order of the cheese curds. They were very good at dipping sauce tasted great. I ordered a salad, which was OK and pork filled a bao buns which were very tasty and barbecue juice sauce is not too spicy not too sugary. The whole sauce was very good on the bottom. Just wish it was a bit more. Make sure you have that napkins cause it does leak juice. My Son had the fish and chips. The fish was really well done they say crunchy a good portion of fish. Fries were good too.

It took 45 min for our appetizer to come out, after our server had come over twice to tell us it would be out soon. Then she didn't even bring it out, someone from the kitchen did, the same for our entrees. My steak tips were too tough to chew. My husband had the sampler and his steak was too tough to chew as well, and he said so was the chicken. He said the fish was the best thing on the plate. For me, the smashed potatoes were the best thing on the plate. Oh and the carrots were cold. I have to say, the presentation was beautiful, though. Our server never came back until it was time to give us the check. Never asked how our food was mid meal and never asked if we wanted another drink. All she did was she took our order, falsely told us twice that our appetizer would "be out soon", then we never saw her again until she brought the check. We're not ones to complain to a server so we just paid our bill and left. Our dissatisfaction was reflected in our tip, and we're usually fairly generous tippers. We're not local, but we visit the area a few times a year because my husband has family in the area. We won't go back the next time we're up there.
