This place is such a wonderful addition to the Middlebury community. They bring a nostalgic charm…read moreto this cold and old town, with kids and families coming in to play a new board game, and more serious mass game players competing with the utmost enthusiasm. You can check out the games for a measly $5, much like one would check out DVDs (RIP Blockbuster) or library books even. Or even better: you can play the games all located in the back shelf for free - right in the vicinity - which can be great if you got some free time on your hands on a lazy Sunday. Right after having brunch at the Diner, we stopped by here and played several rounds of Exploding Kittens. Highly recommend that game. Many other games also to try out. The owner was so friendly; when we walked in, he asked us if it was our first time and immediately showed us the free games in the back to play. My only complaint is that there is a faint smell that I can only know too well: boy smell. It's not the most pleasant smell, but I suppose it could also be worse. I feel like the business could use an air freshener. Maybe I'm just fussy. Nevertheless, this is still a good spot to have fun!

This is one of the worst game stores i have experienced! I am a local and torture myself by having…read moreterrible experiences and then giving them new chances where I get a good week then experience the terrible employees, management or "rules." This store is a second store to their primary location in NH. This game shop has the worst deals and "policies" Their fantastic dollar bin for magic cards which 85% are worth not even 50¢. Today I showed up approximately 20 min late for an event draft. I mainly don't care for their events especially since the "community" is unfriendly. Meanwhile I was just in earlier to find out about the promo card. Which I am told they received so many of them that they are giving them out at an earlier event then they are supposed to. I even offer to pay the price for the event just for the promo card. God forbid someone has a life outside of their schedule. Their products are never close to msrp. The only thing you can purchase is a booster pack of MTG thats an extra $1.50+. They open the extra prerelease packs and repack them with trash. From my experience I only learned because later I learned you get a special prerelease card. Never got a single one. I have purchased from other stores and tried to trade in a prerelease card for credit. This experience has been the least aggravating experience, as they dont take prerelease cards for credit. At one point I realized that the only way I was going to benefit from this store is selling cards I didn't want. So I carried on. But then oh that new Star Wars TCG came out and I would play the releases there and found no issues. But over time I found that they were hoarding the booster boxes of these. I offered well over the price of a box sales that had been set aside for someone. But for 2 months it sat there. This was during the shortage of Destiny product. Thus I go away and come back to find they cracked the box to sell the single packs for a well marked up price. The staff are great people to talk to and helpful with starting out. The community not so much. They all only play standard. If you are a new player of Magic I recommend driving to Glens Falls to use one of the many stores over there. If you like to play Brawl or Commander find a different place. This store started as the replacement of the original game shop in the Rutland Mall which was even worse then this store. If you want to support a FLGS, Family Local Game Store. I highly recommend the Freakopolis Geekery in Whitehall, NY. As they are friendly and willing to get products they run out of or a product they dont have. As opposed to this store where they only play Star Wars X-Wing. During the earliest days of this store a friend from the area asked if they would do Star Trek Attack Wing. Basically the same game. And was told they only do X-Wing. Well the same exact product from when the store open 3 years ago is now on a clearance table after sitting for 3+ years. For which there is no community. I wish I could recommend the Freakopolis Geekery for Magic but unfortunately they dont have much interest from people's already chosen MTG shops. I have additionally bough some of their own "product." They have a 500 card box which they sell for $20 filled with numbered commons and uncommons and with a random amount of rares and mythics. I received 1 rare from this box and 3/4 of the box from late nineties ice age and shards of alara. With 40 recent cards out of standard. Conclusion: If you play pokemon use the 30%-70% coupons to pick up packs at Michaels Craft Store. Or pick up dollar packs at Dollar Tree. If you play magic drive 45 minutes to a much better store in Glens Falls and the surrounding area. If you play any other games The Freakopolis Geekery which is Family run and takes requests and is willing to work with you. In an age of where youtubers tell you to support your local game store instead of mega-corporate companies. Take the walmart not even a five minute walk away from here to buy your product. The only positives from this store is the nice to talk to employees and the fact all snacks and drinks are $1
